"The Return of General Douglas MacArthur”
On the morning of October 20, 1944, Philippine Field Marshal Douglas MacArthur, together with President Sergio Osmeña of the Commonwealth government-in-exile, landed on the shores of Red Beach, Palo, Leyte roughly 14 km from the capital town, Tacloban.
MacArthur, recalling his “I shall return” announcement in 1942.
The invasion of Leyte began the campaign for the liberation of the Philippines from the Imperial Japanese forces during WWII.

Sukarno Ladja lost his sixth of 12 children, Eslina, to a crocodile last November. He never got to see his daughter’s corpse because, as he believes, the crocodile ate Eslina’s whole body. But he told me that even though it’s been 10 months since he lost Eslina, he still hopes to find his kid’s body—dead or alive—so he could put it on a much more rightful resting place.
