Yesterday was apparently #internationaljunkfoodday (who even comes up with these?! 😂).
It was also over 100 degrees with the humidity here😓😪😮 so you know we all gotta reach back to our #dogdaysofsummer childhood memories, dig out all the change from the couch cushions and get your butt to the corner store for a fun frozen novelty!
This is the supposedly new Oreo drumstick.
We’ve had cookies and cream drumsticks my entire life. @nestlecanada makes various Oreo brand flavoured ice creams and two kinds of ice cream sandwiches but, apparently, the drumsticks weren’t yet branded by the famous cookie.
Shout out to this hilariously ominous display “the time has come” 😂 🤣 😆.
So let’s dig in!
The shell is that delicious nestle chocolate. They’ve had that down pat forever. In this case they included bits of Oreo cookies which actually downgrades their usual shell since, even if the texture is fun, it brings a bitter taste forth whenever I bit into one.
Now I love Oreo ice cream/frozen dessert. However, I don’t think that’s what they used here...not quite anyway. The base is so thin that it’s watery and there are no cookie chunks 😢.
The cone was my biggest fear as those chocolate cones tend to be very bitter. They didn’t do a bad job here. Eaten with the ice cream you actually get a taste (finally!) that’s reminiscent of an Oreo 🙌🙌.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this one. Go for the ice cream sandwiches; those have much more of an Oreo flavour.
