100 CALORIES of APPLE 🍎 ⠀
I have compared fresh, tinned and dried apple and apple juice.
The post isn’t about which option is ‘better’ but rather showing the volume difference between the options for the same calorie load! ⠀
The fresh apple provides the largest volume making it an ideal option for those wanting a larger portion size.
Fresh apples make a satisfying and filling low calorie snack👌🏼
Apples are also a rich source of fibre (especially with the skin). They contain a specific type of soluble fibre called pectin, which helps you 💩. ⠀
Apples are high FODMAP, however this doesn’t mean you need to necessarily avoid them if you are intolerant, instead test your level of tolerance! I can manage 1-2 slices every couple of days without any issues 💁🏻♀️
The dried apple is a great option for people requiring more calories in a smaller portion! ⠀
The apple juice, which has no added sugar is nothing but empty calories since it contains minimal fibre! Sure it’s natural sugar but thanks to its liquid form, the sugar will cause a significant spike in blood sugar levels!
Apple juice is also always advertised as a source of vitamin C, which it is, but so is fresh apple.
This is the second of my “100 calories of” series.
