October is the month of the #bigdrawfestival 🎨
The Big Draw is all about drawing to learn, not learning to draw. This years theme is Play - “For kids and big kids alike, The Big Draw Festival 2018 is all about letting loose, embracing happy accidents, discovery, and most importantly having fun with those HBs!” Being free and playful with drawing unlocks creativity. Think and Make Like an Artist’ is an engaging activity book that invites young creative minds to explore and create different types of art. Become a costume designer, illustrator, photographer or sculptor (to name a few) and learn to think and make like an artist. Each media has a child friendly introduction including a quick dip into its history, followed by modern, fresh ideas for creation. Visual examples are given, but the book allows children the freedom to use their imagination to create their own unique artwork. And that is what I love about this book. It is so important not to stifle children’s creativity by showing them an end product and expecting them to recreate it. That just causes insecurity. So celebrate the big draw + get half term activities by buying this book for your little scribblers! Link in bio.

Also check out the Big Draw website, there might be an event near you this half term. Maybe you’ve already got something planned, we’d love to hear about it. Maybe your school is involved?
1. seguir o @clubequindim
2. seguir a @amordeciranda
3. marcar 3 amigas nos comentários deste post.
4. residir no Brasil (E se puder, ajude a divulgar nosso trabalho para as amigas ☺️)
O sorteio será dia 5/11.
Swollen - My childhood comes back to live when I see the today’s #inktober#prompt#swollen . I was not in any kid gangs or joined any fight because I was busy playing nice kid (I am indeed a nice kid though 😆). As far as I can remember seeing my neighbor friends with swollen eyes or bruins after a fight with friends or after being whipped by their parents for not behaving well or even in a movie was not nice but makes me want to be a hero. That time power rangers the almighty, batman, superman, sailormoon, and all kind of movie with magic and power were very entertaining and motivating to me. I wanted to have those powers to be cool and to protect people (and to be cool 😎 🤣🤣🤣). All brought me to this drawing - after a fight.
I got inspired by #elsa from #frozen , but she is not that type of fighting girl. Then, baseball came in mind as an American sport of all time. I also remember reading #doraemon in which the kids always get bruins and swollen after every baseball game. It all comes together in a sense. There I have my drawing.
Calligraphia ~ Understands that some people bring out the twisted, spiteful panther within her, and some bring out the daydreaming seahorse. Others lure her seashell soft crab heart. She keep herself surrounded by a range of others, so her menagerie can break free.
My latest children’s book is out!
Benji & The Giant Kite:
In this enchanting story, Benji learns that possessing something is not quite as meaningful as letting it go.

Well, this didn’t end the way I expected. This is a good story for read aloud time so parents/teachers and kids can talk about it. The story and the illustrations, both by Marla Frazee, are powerful. #childrensbooks#earlyliteracy#read#booksaboutdogs
Our Halloween learning shelf is all set up and I’m so excited! The last little while I have been kinda obsessed with researching and buying board games. We are always looking for quiet activities that we can do while Everett naps and board games have been amazing! They also are helping Evie with patience, sharing, communicating, teamwork, and how not to be a sore winner/loser. I find the classic children’s board games to be torturous! (I’m looking at YOU Candy Land!) But we are finding so many games that are actually fun for the adults too! 🙌🏼 For October (so far 🤦🏻♀️) I have Ghost Blasters and Go Away Monster. Ghost Blasters is really cute but we had to alter the rules a lot for it to work for Evie (3.5). We basically made it a glorified memory game where we “slime” the ghost matches we uncover. It’s still a lot of fun! Go Away Monsters was instantly a hit with Evie! Each player gets a bedroom game board. Each player needs to complete their board with a bed, painting, lamp, and teddy. You draw these items from a bag so you have to feel around for the items you are missing. However, the bag is also filled with monsters. You want to try to get as few monsters as possible, but if you pull a monster, you yell “GO AWAY MONSTER!” and throw them out. 😄 I love that it can be played cooperatively or competitively. Evie loves that she can yell inside (unless we play during brother’s nap). It’s a super cute game and a win/win for everyone!
#12daysofannestagram Day 2: Cozy Anne. I found the gorgeous children’s book, Goodnight, Anne at the library and my daughter was happy to cozy up with me (for as long as it took to read 3 pages and take this picture🤪).
Wait for it...🍂For anyone who feels like a little too much like a leaf in the wind, I’m sharing some wise words from the @laurapsalas newsletter. (Go subscribe. She’s generous with her knowledge!) There’s a whole Tetris analogy I’m not including here, but I think there’s so much heart that you’ll be able to follow along regardless... “If you feel like you have been following the rules and doing everything right, but your writing career is not progressing the way you hoped, this is for you.
If you have learned your craft, submitted regularly, and gotten feedback from editors saying, "I love your work, but this one is not quite right for us," this is for you.
If you attend conferences and look at the author speaking up front and wonder, Will I ever get there?, this is for you... You are NOT that different from the author talking at the front of the room. You're just a writer arranging all your jewels and making the most of your time until a good chain reaction happens.” I’m working on arranging my magic moments. Are you? (Book is SOUFFLÉ a beautiful French pop up!🍁🍂🍁)

ABC-themed books seem to be a staple for little kids. I think it's because parents can read them and feel like they're doing something educational 🧐 If you're sick of "A is for alligator, B is for ball" and other tired examples, here are a few of our favorite alphabet picture books, both interesting vocabulary-wise and beautiful in illustration.
"ABCs On Wheels" by Ramon Olivera
"Eating the Alphabet" by Lois Ehlert
"On Market Street" by Anita and Arnold Lobel
