A lot, and I really mean A LOT has been happening lately. That is why I have been MIA from social media for a bit. Fitness wise, slightly different for about 2-3 weeks now, I have reduced the intensity and frequency. & I do not track macros as much.

Long story short:

โ€ข Firstly, Iโ€™ve been having trouble with visa application and will go back ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ for a bit to apply from outside UK. Pray for me please. Third time is the charm right? If any of you have experience in applying Tier 2 Visa from outside UK. Please DM me & guide me through the evidences I need to provide please. My situation for visa application is a bit complex, so Iโ€™m temporarily out of training program.

โ€ข secondly, due to my bilateral severe patella chondromalacia, I have changed my lower body workout and still trying to get use to it. Slowly. At least Iโ€™m doing something for lower body each week right?

โ€ข Thirdly, a lot of other things I need to prep prior to my flight.

Pray for me lovelies, may things get better from here onwards. Life is like on a roller coaster & I know it will get better eventually. I am still alive with food, some monnehhh and shelter above my head so itโ€™s all good ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I've just come off the back of a rather nasty virus that knocked me down fast but I recovered fast from too. In 2 days I lost 2 kilos and slept for 36 hours, not ideal for someone who is supposed to be in their training peak week ๐Ÿ˜ญโ €

But should you train when your sick and if not when should you start back up? The answer is different for everyone and the key is listen to your body and it will have the answer. Key things I look out for to tell me not to train are:โ €

โœŽ Severely low energyโ €
โœŽ No / low motivation to even go for a walkโ €
โœŽ Reduced appetiteโ €
โœŽ Poor sleep (and / or a lot more than usual)โ €
โœŽ Low mood โ €
โœŽ Poor concentrationโ €
โœŽ Ability to drink fluids is compromisedโ €
โ € โค๏ธŽโ €

If you're sleeping more than usual and mood and energy is low, your body is working extra hard to fight off whatever it needs to in order to recover. And if you are struggling to get the calories and fluids in, your body is not going to be in an optimal state to recover from any training session you decide to do. ๐Ÿ˜ฏโ €

Training, after all, is just another form of stress on the body and is counterproductive if you are already under severe stress through a virus or sickness of some sort. The problem is you might push yourself to train and not necessarily feel any worse for it - but a sickness which may have lasted 3 days may push into 7 because you kept adding more on more on top of an already stressed out body and didn't give it time to recover. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿปโ €

So you took a break, now what? Take it slow and remember what your body has just been through. You haven't been eating or drinking the same and your body needs time to adjust:โ €

โœŽ Start off with some walking and stretching for a couple of daysโ €

โœŽ Only then start to ease yourself back in with some light resistance work and build back up slowly โ €

I used to be one of those people who pushed through when I was sick; to me it was a form of weakness and I was anything but weak! But nowadays I go a lot easier on myself because I want to nurture my body, give it time and let it recover as quick as it can - not prolong something for the sake of my ego. ๐Ÿ˜

The problem is you might push yourself to train and not necessarily feel any worse for it - but a sickness which may have lasted 3 days may push into 7 because you kept adding more on more on top of an already stressed out body and didn't give it time to recover. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿปโ € โ € โค๏ธŽโ € โ € So you took a break, now what? Take it slow and remember what your body has just been through. You haven't been eating or drinking the same and your body needs time to adjust:โ € โ € โœŽ Start off with some walking and stretching for a couple of daysโ € โ € โœŽ Only then start to ease yourself back in with some light resistance work and build back up slowly โ € โ € โค๏ธŽโ € โ € I used to be one of those people who pushed through when I was sick; to me it was a form of weakness and I was anything but weak! But nowadays I go a lot easier on myself because I want to nurture my body, give it time and let it recover as quick as it can - not prolong something for the sake of my ego. ๐Ÿ˜
