If you want a faster metabolism then you need adequate lean muscle...if you want lean muscle then you need to get adequate amount of protein in daily! Never realized how hard it is to get in enough protein daily until I started tracking my macros. Always finding ways in incorporate protein in my day...and today it starts with a little protein powder added to my morning coffee. Not bad!

Right now, I’ve honestly just been enjoying life and enjoying health and fitness for the sake of just ENJOYING them!⁣

↠ health + nutrition⁣
I currently have not been tracking my macros and just eating intuitively, around maintenance level (I’m guessing). Since I did track macros for so long, and do sometimes off and on, I have a general idea of the amount I’m eating, but I’m not physically tracking it! I’ve just been eating fairly healthy but enjoying some extra treats around the holidays!⁣

↠ fitness + training⁣
I have been following a full body push/pull split and adding in cardio as well, to try and keep my HEART healthy! My split follows as: full body push, full body pull, cardio, full body push, full body pull, and I usually take the weekends to rest! I’ve also been trying to incorporate some random cardio HIIT or LISS on my lift days afterwards! I’ve genuinely really enjoyed training lately!⁣

As far as other things go, I’m still drinking .5- 1 gallon of water a day, taking my vitamins/supplements, and just genuinely trying to take care of myself!⁣

A single mom of 2 and to look so bad ass after having kids should be illegal! I started my journey a little less than 5 months ago and can’t be happier with my results. I wanted to be fit and curvy without having to pay for surgery (b/c I couldn’t afford it being a mom) but working out in the past I always lost my butt 😩 so I was fearful to do it again...
I really was unmotivated, lazy, binge watching shows on Netflix and just eating uncontrollably, it caused me to not really want to be on camera and do videos often. I’m ashamed that allowed myself to lose so much control but @flex_levelup pushed me to get back on a healthy route! Which I am so grateful for! Haven’t truly benched in a year maybe more time than that. I hate working chest, but I’ve come to realize that mentality has hurt my progress in other lifts.

A well rounded workout routine will help you excel in all areas. It really got me down in the dumps when I had to practically start over after I had my son. I had worked so hard for a couple years before that time to build up strong lifts. Then I found it I was pregnant and instead of educating myself then about lifting while pregnant I just stopped all together.

HUGE MISTAKE. I’m slowly gaining my strength back, but this go round I’ve been trying to focus on form. I’m not perfect. I slip up and have terrible form. But then I look at it ,critique myself, and try again. Building muscle takes so much time, but I’m so happy with where I’m standing right now only to build and build and build the next few years.

Haaaaave you met my new best friend? Me and this step are about to get REAL close come January. Never did I ever imagine settling for a 20 minute workout in the middle of my living room, but here we are, pushing aside the coffee table and trying not to “hop hop squat” on the dog. Never did I think I could get a good workout without my dumbbells and barbells, but this overwhelmed mama is sure willing to give it a shot. I don’t want busy days and long nights to be my excuse to lose sight of my health. I don’t want to use my sweet baby as my scapegoat to not take time to better myself. This is me embracing a new season of my life, with new goals and new obstacles. I’m dedicating 20 minutes a day to me. Not a better, more improved me. To the same me under new circumstances 👊🏼

EXPECTATIONS. 
Both as a trainer and as a female athlete, I see people being constrained by limits placed on them all of the time.  I hear a LOT of women - and I mean it when I say way too many - who say that they “have” to be a certain size, a certain shape, and that, “as a woman, I want to make sure I’m not too bulky, right?” No, not right. 
I am dead serious when I say that on occasion I allow this to both infuriate and hurt me when I hear people, women especially, saying they can’t be “too bulky”. Let’s take a little existential step back for a moment here and realize something:  YOU do NOT have to look like anything FOR anybody else.  I repeat.  You DO NOT HAVE to look like anything for ANYONE - other than YOU.  All commentary about sexual attraction, feeling valued, aside, it is still YOUR - 100% YOUR choice to do, be and VALUE what YOU want.  We get caught up in what we “should” be - and even though we all feel those pressures and get wrapped up in it, we have to occasionally remind ourselves that we do have the choice to change that perspective.  You have the power to go out there and do what makes YOU feel good.  If you love 5K races and that makes your heart happy, then I wholeheartedly encourage you to run them.  However, if you are someone who loves lifting heavy stuff and maybe even throwing it, don’t let anyone tell you that because you’re female you “can’t” enjoy that.  Whether you are male or female should hold no weight on the activities you enjoy.
