Meditation was the practice of the Buddha. The four noble truths, that came to him during meditation, teach the truth of suffering, the truth of the origin of suffering, the truth of cessation of suffering, and the truth of the path to the cessation of suffering.
As someone who was chronically sick & suffering every day, when these teachings made their way to me I was captivated!
But despite my captivated awareness, meditation did not come easily to me at first, I resisted it, rejected it, attached my frustration to it, and wrestled until i finally understood that my path with meditation was perfect.
The fact is most of us reject it because we tried it a few times and it ‘didn’t work’, or because our lifestyle seemingly doesn’t connect with the ‘image’ of meditating. We are told it’s a practice that should be regular, routine, and committed to.
Regular, routine, commitment were all things I didn’t want to get involved with, I needed flexibility and zero pressures! But I saw flexibility and zero pressure as something that needed to come from the outside, from my environment and surrounding.
I dabbled with various types of meditation, I practiced a little & read a lot for a long time, I understood the education of meditation long before the ‘practice’ became apart of my recovery and of me.
Meditation is an infinite reservoir of full awareness. Meditation is the focus of attention on one point. But meditation is also flexible awareness, it’s letting the outcomes unfold as they do, in their own time, in their own way.
I haven’t practiced a regular routine, I rarely practice sitting up, I don’t have a perfect setting to practice, but I get there. .
“I teach suffering, its origin, cessation and path. That's all I teach", declared the Buddha. In the first two Noble Truths he diagnosed the problem (suffering) and identified its cause. The third Noble Truth is the realisation that there is a cure. The fourth Noble Truth, in which the Buddha set out the Eightfold Path, is the prescription, the way to achieve a release from suffering.

Day 2 of sadhana intensive and I have already been up since 5am. I’m facing some challenges but also feel like I’m breaking though some barriers. I knew it wouldn’t be easy. As the bells have been ringing my bed has been calling me back, but I resist and know that the show must go on. I trust that my desire to crawl back under my duvet cover will become less as the time goes on. The other person or situation has only become an agent in order to teach us to drop something.
And what it is that you have to drop?
This emotion of ‘Mine’ is what you need to drop-“This is my habit or this is my idea”. Instead of ‘mine’ you have to get into ‘yours’ (God). _“This is your (God or Gurudev) idea. This is your habit, you take care of it”._

Vaisnava dress is necessary
Caitanya Mahaprabhu has taught us kirtaniyaḥ sada hariḥ [Cc. Adi 17.31]. Then prekṣaniya, "He is worth seeing." We are accustomed to see so many things. That is our bondage. Akṣnoḥ phalaṁ. If by the eyes you see the Deity, the Vaiṣṇavas... The Vaiṣṇavas, with tilaka, with kunti, with chanting beads, as soon as you see... And practically you know. As soon as they see these Hare Krṣṇa movement people, they also chant, "Hare Krṣṇa," giving a chance to the others. The dress is also required. You should be always equipped with tilaka, kunti, and sikha, sutra. Then, as soon as a common man sees, "Oh, here is a Hare Krṣṇa man. Hare Krṣṇa," he'll chant. Automatically you give a chance to chant Hare Krṣṇa. So this is required. The foolish rascals, they say that "What is the necessity of this, that?" No. This is necessity. You must always remain dressed like a Vaiṣṇava. That is necessity. So prekṣaṇiya: "is very beautiful to see."

Serious spiritual practice is more than serene walks in the woods, lit candles and incense. You have to be committed. You have to be willing to enter into your own darkness and transcend it. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. Everyone is psychic. People just don't know that. They think so much. They worry so much. They're so caught up in unhappy emotions. They're not patient enough. All that you need is within you. Detox your body and embrace the wisdom of your soul.
Balance is not something you find, it's something you create. You either get bitter or you get better. It's that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down. I used to meditate for an hour every day. It really helped me stay focused on my goals & quiet the negative dialogue from the judge & jury in my head. Now a days I’m barely meditating a minute here and there and I can feel the difference in my productivity and honestly my overall health. Meditating forces me to think about the areas I want to change & focus my energy on doing so; allow space in my mind for solutions to arise. It also gives me time to just say thank you for my existence in this world as crazy as it may seem. Whenever I do take the time to do this the universe begins to conspire with me and like clockwork things start happening. But it’s still up to us as individuals to take action and grasp the blessings right in front of us before they pass on by. You still gotta put in work! I wouldn’t normally post a photo like this... but it was a totally candid shot captured during my recent Bali retreat, and there is something wild and free about it, like the wind that was raging at the moment, that I love. I see this image, and I see the rawness and daring of my heart to fully yearn, love, call forth and not hold back - something that took many years to crack... and that happened through kirtan, exactly like this.
This is Bhakti, the pure, wild and free expression of love, of gratitude, of longing and praise. .

The manifestation of many dreams. I do not take it lightly that an animal gave its spirit to give me this drum. May it be helpful in connecting with my highest vibration to heal and honor all living beings.
My yoga classes and meditation practice incorporate a variety of sound healing methods. After all, all life is vibration.
I highly recommend spending time with shamanic drumming, crystal singing bowls, chanting or other musical medicine for regular tune ups!

When the noise becomes too much that's when you become too far in a negative space and it spirals. 🤯
I neglected my practice and got swallowed up by anxiety, negative thoughts, spiralling and caught up in unnecessary nonsense. Completely not who I am but am only human after all.
Back on the right path with a brighter outlook after taking a step back and taking ownership.
Take some self love and care for yourself. It's paramount for your mental health.

After dissolution of fears, your mind and emotions act in harmony to help you to make you a joyous soul. One positive person affects the whole universe. If you improve yourself as a human being then you will contribute for the betterment of the whole plane. One of our duties on this plane is to dissolve the negative emotions associated with negative memories while we motivate ourselves and other people. Meditation means to know life beyond the material plane of existence; to know and experience life not just at the surface but at the source. Remember your connection with the cosmos. Remember your connection with the divine. That remembrance will give you the inspiration and freedom. The strongest of us are those that are spiritually strong. Meditation is the alchemy of transforming, the unconscious into the conscious. It gives you a tremendous power, far greater than anger, greed and lust. The spiritual world, the world that most of us can’t see, connects us to an unlimited, enormous consciousness with no edges, no boundaries, and no limits to what it can create. Enlightenment is not a goal to be attained, it is a state of being to be regained. Spiritual enlightenment is the ultimate goal for all of humanity, not just a chosen few. Be helpful, not hurtful.
