If I review what I have done to my hair during the last two years I should be glad that I still have any. Not to mention the daily flat ironing... of course WITHOUT any heat protection 🙈 So, thank you hair for not blaming me to badly. And thanks to @cuelymau_curls who makes me aware of the CG Methode and how to take care of my hair.
My wash day routine! Here it goes. A super easy peasy one.
➰ Prepoo with @righteousrootsoils . I love this one, super light, awesome smell and you'll never actually feel there's oil in your hair. Have been using this since I started CG method. I detangled my hair before this with the Vega flexi brush.
➰ Next up, my current favorite @hairofnature mineral clay cowash. Super helpful as it's 3in1, cuts a lot of time, clarifies- detox- deep conditions. I'm definitely gonna buy this again. I keep it for 20 mins, wash with warm water, use the shampoo brush to gently cleanse my scalp. .
➰ My favorite moisture leave in has been @floracurl . Smells so good, light and has amazing slip. I used it in #prayinghands method and used the Vega flexi brush to evenly distribute the leave in. .
➰ @giovannicosmetics LA styling gel is an awesome gel. It's hard hold, has protein and no smell as such. I am currently loving this. This is how balanced my wash days, moisture leave in and protein gel or vice versa. .
➰ I normally air dry, when my hair is almost 80% dry, I use the @bouncecurl hairspray. I took little time to get a hang of it but it's awesome. Just 3 sprays and you get awesome volume. You can use it on non wash days as well. I SOTC with @righteousrootsoils and use the Roots pik for extra volume. .
Don't get stressed out by seeing so many products. Take it easy. Each of them do a different work. You'll get a hang of everything. Till then, take care of yourself and your hair. .

Today was ACV rinse day as my hair was feeling straw-y, dry, lacked shine and curls were dropping the next day. Quite happy with the wash day results. The results speak for themselves, shine and bouncy soft curls 💖
ACV on dirty hair because i was lazy plus time constraint. Left for about 10 min and rinse with warm water 🌸DC with @sheamoisture.australia Mauka honey left was about 20 min with my new @thermalhaircare heat cap 🌸conditioner @sheamoisture.australia coconut & hibiscus curl and shine conditioner, and squish to condish 🌸 leave-in @curls blueberry bliss leave-in 🌸 & @jessicurl spiralicious gel
It was a bomb #washday yesterday, and this is my only photographic evidence. I used my favorite gel going back to 1994 before the #curlygirlmethod , and it still works better than any other gel I've tried since. Tighter curls, volume, frizz control. Plus I didn't even have to refresh today. I can't quit you @matrix Biolage Gelee! 😫 I also used:
@nymbrands pink shampoo to wash
@ogx_beauty Coconut Curls to condition (🚫 contains silicone)
@curls Blueberry Bliss Leave-In
Going to try @jessicurl stylers in the next couple weeks hoping for a perfect gel like #matrixbiolagegelee , which contains isopropyl alcohol as one of the last ingredients. Shout out to @downthecurlypath who also loves Gelee.
After sevealr no-protein wash days, I'm going to work on incorporating protein a little at a time to see what my hair will take. I started with changing my leave in to one containing Panthenol. No crazy stiff frizz like I was getting when I was using more protein so I think it was a good move! My fine hairs aren't as stringy today either, but I'm going to need to keep testing this before I make a total judgment.
🌲Cleanse: @asiamnaturally Coconut Cowash
🌲Deep condition: @nymbrands Matcha Green Tea Masque for 30 minutes under the @thermalhaircare Hot Head
🌲Rinsed out completely, flipped hair over, and combed hair forward.
🌲Leave-in: @giovannicosmetics Direct Leave-In, pea size amount with praying hands, then squished to condish with praying hands and added same amount back in, scrunched.
🌲Mousse: @ogx_beauty Coconut Curls Moisture Moussed. Praying hands and scrunched
🌲Gel: @lalooksgel Extreme Sport, praying hands and scrunched
🌲Microplopped with microfiber towel the added more gel and scrunched. Diffused for AN HOUR (still not dry 😞) and air dried rest of the way.

Today was my work Christmas party and also wash day. I just felt so pretty during it all!! 🥰🙌🏽
It’s so nice when things start to go forward with your hair progress. I rarely have bad days anymore and I’m so happy right now! 🙏🏽😍😍
My hair needed some #tlc this weekend for sure! So I finger detangled it with my trusty #witchiloveyourhair did a scalp massage with it as well, then thoroughly sprayed my hair with my mixture of warm water and #longhairdontcare to really soak in and moisturize my hair. Once it was pretty damp and sea-weedy I went back over everything with WILYH then clipped it up and slept in a shower cap as a #prepoo . It felt great this morning when I rinsed it out! Then I #cowashed with LHDC and conditioned with @innersenseorganicbeauty Color Radiance Daily Conditioner. Suffice it to say my hair is feeling MUCH better today! #gottaridethewaves#wavycurly#curlygirlmethod#wavytrain#wavesarenotfailedcurls#cgmethod @witchiloveyourhair
Deva curl cut going strong.
Next time I’m going to request shorter layers and framing around my face. But this cut still turned out GREAT, and my stylist brought my curls back from the dead of a damaging cut, which literally caused many of my curls to start UN-curling at the ends. 😟
GO TO A CURL SPECIALIST.
It’s worth the money, and you’ll never think twice about spending it again once you see how fantastic your hair can truly be. 💜
I deep conditioned earlier this afternoon with @palmers olive oil deep conditioning pack. Left it in for three hours and then cleansed & conditioned with @aussiehairusa “Miracle Curls” co-wash & conditioner.
Then on SOAKING WET hair, I combed through @cantubeauty moisturizing curl cream activator. After I raked the cream through my hair, I twisted it into six sections and then shook out the twists gently with my fingertips, at the roots. Twisting your hair into sections will ensure that your product goes down inside the hair shaft as well as “train“ your curl pattern to behave a little better. Twisting will not create a curl that’s not already there (if you have “relaxed” hair), but it will enhance what you already have, over time. Twisting big sections of hair is not the same as finger coiling. (Bless you if you have time to finger coil.)
My nearly soaking wet hair was then plopped into my microfiber towel turban and then taken out ten minutes later. I spritzed all over with Aussie’s Sprunch Spray and then diffused until 90% dry with the @devacurl Devafuser.
For volume, I always fluff my roots with an afro pick that has been spritzed with hair spray. My hair will continue to “grow” through the day and become more voluminous, but it lays pretty flat directly after drying and styling.
Check out my Instastory to see my wild hair brushed out prior to deep conditioning. 🤣
My forehead is shrinking!? 🤯➰Since I started following the #curlygirlmethod 5 months ago, I’ve religiously done scalp massages with @righteousrootsoils every evening before bed, and sometimes in the morning to fluff my roots after refreshing. ➰ I remember one of the first IG posts I saw about it was from the @themestizamuse (her hairline transformation is astounding!) and I immediately ordered a bottle for my hormonal hairline. I am convinced that it is why my hairline is so much stronger and fuller now. It really is amazing. ❤️➰I’m sure using healthier CG stylers and no curling irons for 5 months have also helped, but @righteousrootsoils is without a doubt the main reason.➰🥰 I even gifted bottles of this magic elixir to loved ones who are struggling with hair loss because I know it will help them. I’m so grateful I stumbled across them on IG. 👏💫❤️ (Completely unsolicited praise - I just really am grateful!)
Today's results. I used shea moistures curl enhancing smoothie and LA Looks extreme sports gel with 10 hold. So this pic shows you guys that my hair isn't definitively curly or definitively wavy. That's why I say I have type 2 hair because it is multi textured. I also defused here till it was half way dry, then I let it air dry which gave me lots of volume. #type2hair#wavycurly#cgmethod#sheamoisture#curls#lalooksgel
The look in my eye in the far right pic is hilarious. Like I saw a huge bug or something. I snorted when I saw the picture.
Anyway. Look how purdy my hair looks. Even tho it badly needs a reshape. If you haven't already, google curly girl method. Even if you have straight hair. Especially if you have straight, fizzy hair!
Do Not rush out and buy a ton of shit. There are a ton of inexpensive options. And if you change too much at once, you don't know whats working.
I finally tried these complimentary hair products from @naturellepro @influenster .
I hesitated to use them at first because I'm on this #curlygirl hair journey and I'm super cautious with ingredients. After doing some research I knew these were safe for my curls. 🔥
I'm so glad I tried them!! The smell is light but Great. The leave in left my hair feeling super smooth, soft and hydrated.😍
I'm going to keep using them this week and see how my hair does. Then I'll post a review/vlog on my youtube channel. Stay tuned! 🎥
So it’s safe to say that this ring light is awesome, definitely going to be using it more ☺️ my curls needed rehab, so today I clarified, did a rice water rinse per @themestizamuse directions, then deep conditioned. I think it worked! My hair is looking and feeling much better than it did this last wash cycle and I think it just needed some protein. I had to make sure that I had a good hair day for the #curlyincolorado meetup today!
Day 2. Washed last night with @devacurl low poo and one conditioner. Squish to condish with Vo5 strawberries and cream. Didn't put any product in at all. Slept and air dried! Today I hand scrunched with only water and added @nymbrands curl talk mousse and diffused on cool until dry. Loving how easy this was! .
🦊 Feelin foxy as can be today after a fresh cut and curl re-shape at @getminty Wow I am loving this length and body!!! 😍Thank you so so much @dominique_atmint for not only transforming my curls but being so sweet and funny and making me feel so comfortable ♥️ I will definitely be back after this! #mintsalon#devacut#cgmethod#curlyhair#curls#curlspoppin#naturalcurls
Wash day WIN! It’s so dark here in the PNW and so difficult to get a good photo. So, just take my word for it :) I haven’t been straying much from my products and routine. I think I can handle some more protein, so a rice water rinse is in my future! Today’s wash:
💦 Olaplex #3 for 45 min with @thermalhaircare cap
💦 @bouncecurl clarifying shampoo
💦 @sheamoisture manuka honey mask. 30 min or so, no heat. Rinsed.
💦 @nymbrands Naturals, pink bottle, STC
💦 leave in: KKKT
💦 styled with FSG, ouidad ACC. Applied @powerdomi style. 💦 microplopped then gently scrunched in @giovannicosmetics la naturals gel and water. 💦 microplopped more
💦 pixie diffused to set
💦 air dried a bit
💦 diffused to 100% 💦 SOTC with @righteousrootsoils
Darling don't forget to fall in love with yourself first! #selfcare starts from within...
➰ BRUSHED OUT HAIR ➰
It wasn't a bad wash day, I just wanted too. And look at that shine tho! 😍💁💅💃
Wash Day Tea ⬇⬇⬇
#ricewaterrinse & @mielleorganics Babbasu oil and mint deep conditioner
Detangled| STC | Left on for 12 minutes & rinsed out.
@aghair Cloud mousse scrunched in and at roots
@mysoigne Flax seed gel
Sotc w/ @aghair
Curls are back in action!! Second good wash day in a row 😆
Did a pre poo for the first time with my @righteousrootsoils. I am in love with this oil. I'm late to the game in using #righteousrootsoils but I got a bottle for my birthday and I looooove the stuff. Such shine, perfect to SOTC and for separating curl clumps.
I know my curls are also extra bouncy as I used my go to @floracurl clay wash to clarify and condition. This clay wash never fails to deliver. I'm coming close to the end of the bottle so I'm starting to spare it 😮
Thanks to @curliest_life for the pre poo pep talk and @reallifecurlygirl for a great tutorial (I rocked the milk maid look 😉) Any one else pre poo on a regular basis?
On another note, sorry for the poor quality pics. I have a bad camera. In particular selfies look awful like I've filtered them (which I haven't) they look so dark! Hopefully Santa might bring me a new one 🎅
Pre poo: #righteousroots
Clarify: #floracurl clay wash
Deep condition: @garnieruk almond crush yogurt mask and @giovannicosmetics Triple Treat Tea Tree Conditioner mixed in
Stylers: all applied upside down @asiamuk Leave in (micro plopped)
@pantene natural curls mousse
I need to work on getting more styling product into the back of my hair as I missed some bits
Wash Day for a special occasion my Nonna (grandmother) turns 90!!! Having a big family gathering to celebrate!! Today I did a rice water rinse with @jessicurl deep treatment for 30 mins with my DIY @curlycailin.ie heat cap!! Conditioned with @everescents_organic_haircare Cinnamon & Patchouli conditioner. Styled with the @denmanbrush brush and @trepadoracurltherapy leave in, papaya lotion and acai gel! Love this stuff!!
Apparently a lot of people are trying to figure out what exactly is it that I’m doing with my hair. Well, today I’m going to break it down for you. And NO I’m not trying to sell anything!
I’ve had wavy and curly hair since I was a teenager and I’m always trying new products and techniques to improve my curls. I also *really* love getting highlights, so my hair has had some damage over the last few years. I’ve run across the concepts of the curly girl method on and off over the years but I never tried it because I thought ditching shampoo was crazy. Well...I’m 8 weeks in and enjoying the curly girl life!
There are tons of research and info online about the curly girl method and it can be pretty overwhelming at times. Here’s the basic rules: 1. Ditch silicones, sulfates, and drying alcohols. 2. Use only water soluble products. 3. Use a gel or other product that will leave a “cast” on your hair. 4. Minimize heat tools 5. No towels - they cause frizz. Use a T-shirt instead to dry it.
Basically you ditch ingredients that aren’t great for your hair...the ones that strip all the moisture (most regular shampoos) and heavily coat (silicones) to make it look repaired and healthy. So the whole no shampoo thing? It’s really more about how often and what shampoo you use. Personally I wash my hair twice a week. Usually I cowash with As I Am Coconut Cowash (pictured) one day and use Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo the onext. The cowash is very thick and cleanses like a mild shampoo, but acts like a conditioner. If I need more moisture I’ll wash with it.
Deep conditioners have drastically improved my hair. Totally recommend it if you color, use a lot of heat on your hair, or it’s just dry. I’m using the two pictured from Shea Moisture. The one in the packet I don’t use as often because it has a lot more protein...that’s a whole different topic for another day. The Manuka Honey mask is my favorite currently. I use it once a week, or every other week, depending on how dry my hair is. For a normal wash out conditioner I use Trader Joe’s tea tree tingle conditioner (not pictured). More info to come about how the CG method works and my wash routine!
I have just had my busiest teaching term ever and have not been on here much, but it’s mostly because after nearly a year of CG experimentation, I think I’ve figured my hair out. It has been a journey of trial and error (and buying way too many products in the beginning). Now I’m down to three product wash days and single product refreshes, and I recently donated a massive bag of barely used products to a women’s shelter. I’m happy with where I’m at and am enjoying more volume with shorter cuts (from Katie at ImageWest in Vancouver). Here’s some day 4 hair featuring the crown volume of my dreams. I hope all your journeys are going well wherever you’re at with them, curlies 🥰

I don’t really know how to introduce this page or blog. But I know that I want to give out a huge shoutout and thank you to the one who not only inspired me, @curlytalks . I have contacted Dina a couple of times through my personal IG, and I will never stop showing her love and support because I am in a much happier place because of her. Thank you Dina, and I will never feel like it’s enough thanking you.
This page will include reviews on products, how-to’s, all tips and tricks to take care for natural hair. I will pour my heart out into this page/blog to help people love and take care of their natural hair. To avoid all harsh ingredients that will chemically damage your and avoid heat.
I have been transitioning for 6 months and after every wash I see huge difference in my hair’s curl pattern and texture. That’s why I am documenting this and because of how happy I am with my hair. I want to help other boys, girl, women and men to love and care for their natural hair. Wether it’s curly, kinky, coily, wavy, or straight.
Self love is the most important
At first, I was not inspired only by @curlytalks but along the way of transitioning I was inspired by many beautiful encouraging girls/women. @curlyup @curlsbyhamsa @nohaelwakil @curlswithcoral @mismmo @raneemcurlss @vananaa_ and @loveandcurlss . These women have inspired me so freaking much to be much happier about my hair and enjoy self love.
