151.) 3/5: I really didn't like this movie, the CGI parts were amazing to look at but the plot is honestly kinda poopy. Like, what in the fuck reason would a corporation want to find this big ass dorks easter egg and rule over the oasis for? Like okay cool you profit from big nerds and people with no lives but thats fucking dumb we already have that with EA having us by the dicks n pussies with pay walls for us to play as Darth Vader or something stupid like that. I hated the romantic side plot, it didn't feel like it was real and just felt forced and it was unbearable to watch. Now the best thing about this movie is the fucking CGI parts, that shit looked like what Blizzard does for their cutscenes or any cinematic thing they've done like, it looked so good. But i didn't like how all the major references were to shit from the 70s through the 90s like Iron Giant (idk if thats 90s or 2000s im sorry) The DeLorean (idk if thats how it's spelled im sorry) Bonsai Buckaroo or Buckaroo Bonsai, idk but I've never heard of that shit and the movie made me cringe with a lot of that shit. I did like the Mecha Godzilla and Iron Giant fight, that shit was pretty fucking rad.
**NEW VIDEO: Tame Impala - Past Life (Audiovisual/Lyrics)**
LINK IN BIO!! Video Game? Lyric Video? Psychedelic Audiovisual Trip? ...How about 3 in one? 😂Very excited for you all to take a gander at this latest concoction I've been brewing up! This video completely changes my own parameters and defaults that I've set for myself when it comes to animating music. I love for my work to be immersive, and this project directly takes you on a first-person journey via cockpit; I think it's my most interactive video yet.
This is my sophomore video for Tame Impala, the first being my highest viewed video yet: "New Person, Same Old Mistakes". I tried forcing out another one months ago when someone suggested I tackle more of Kevin Parker's music, but nothing was sticking to the wall...until now! Listening to Currents' "Past Life" just recently clicked with me what I had to do, I let the narrative visually guide me to the point of this being a project of sheer intent every step of the way.
I've always wantes to do classic 80s-90s arcade game sprite visuals, and hearing the synthesizers in this track took me there mentally (also I've been playing a lot of Mortal Kombat lately so that may or may not be an influence 😂). There are so many moving parts to this project; over 20 compositions, and many, many, many text and film layers. And no shortage of symbolism. You just can't afford to miss this, LINK IN BIO!
