Grove snails (Cepaea nemoralis). These European snails have become established in some urban areas of the states. Among the most attractive of land snails, their polymorphism has frequently been a subject of academic research. In the 1800's their was an attempt to name each color form. The snails typically come in a few base colors (yellow, pink, chesnut, and red) with or without stripes.
These snails were all captured on Friday when my daughters came home from walking the dog with a container holding about 30 of them. Many thanks to my eldest daughter for providing excellent photographic assistance, she's pretty good at wrangling snails :-)
“We only know a tiny proportion about the complexity of the natural world. Wherever you look, there are still things we don’t know about and don’t understand... There are always new things to find out if you go looking for them.”
Cute little Grove Snail I saved from getting pressure washed with 4200 PSI out here in Bellevue, Woop woop! Also gave it a lot of water lol and made a small water installation with a leaf and rock lol #Grovesnail#brownlippedsnail#Cepaeanemoralis
