You’d think the gluten free aisle would be a safe place for someone with IBS right? Wrong.
A gluten free diet definitely benefits an IBS belly, but there are often still other ingredients in gluten free products that aren’t low FODMAP and are likely to worsen symptoms. Here are a few to look out for:
- apple or pear juice concentrate
- artificial sugars and sweeteners
I personally hate shopping down this aisle 😂 I find I get stuck there for what feels like forever reading labels and frustratedly picking things off the shelf and putting 99% of them back. Not to mention how expensive everything is 💸💸💸. Once in a while I do find some hidden gems though! I will be sharing some of my faves soon.
We found our favorite guys at @theraleighnightmarket tonight!
It was waaay past Mav’s bedtime (hence the not so happy face) but we had to make a special trip to see @jpspastry
I have #celiacdisease and have to eat #glutenfree ...sometimes I wish JP’s didn’t taste so good so I could easily walk away. But, I can’t. Since my little guy has a million allergies on top of mine, I was certain I wouldn’t be having any treats for a while. Well, I was wrong! JP could make a mud puddle taste good! And he could make it soy, dairy, gluten and peanut free for people like me!! Love you @jpsgram and @izcanderf 💙💙💙 You guys are awesome!!! If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying JP’s goodies, you’re missing out!
Chocolate avocado puddin anyone!? 💕💁🏽♀️
Avocado (ripe, but not over ripe)
Whatevs you like 🤷🏽♀️
I love sweets, but I don’t like it when my blood sugar spikes and I feel jittery and all crazayyyy. Avocados are super high in fibre and good quality fats which help slow down the absorption of sugar in the maple syrup!
I've gained a few followers over the last couple days, so I thought I'd share a few things about me!
🇬🇷 My favorite vacation destination so far has been Greece. I went there in 2011 & have been itching to go back ever since! Specifically the island of Sifnos--check it out!
👣I hate being barefoot, so you'll rarely see me without AT LEAST socks on my feet, but more likely slippers or sandals. Inside or outside, day or night. 🎹 I've been playing piano since I was in kindergarten-I love the music, and an added bonus is I can type crazy fast because of it! .. .
What are some fun/little known things about YOU?
I am a pre-existing condition. I've battled it for half my life. I hid it for years. I wouldn't talk about it, hardly anyone knew. I was ashamed. In my eyes, something was wrong with me. I wasn't "normal" .
As an athlete, I was ashamed because I wasn't "healthy". As a health and fitness professional, I was ashamed because I thought people wouldn't think I was practicing what I was preaching. In my eyes, I didn't fit the mold that everyone has of those individuals. .
It has impacted every aspect of my life; my sleep, my confidence, my relationships, my running, my eating, my mood, my energy, my ambitions, my everyday life. There is nothing that has been untouched due to my autoimmune disorder.
A few years ago I decided to take off the mask. Stop hiding from what I had been suffering from. I realized I wasn't alone. There were many just like me, living healthy lives yet still struggling with their health due to outside causes. .
My autoimmune disorder is not from my doing. Many outside factors contributed to what I now have to live with for the rest of my life. The good news is, I now understand so much more about what contributed to my health issues and can eliminate those to assist in my healing as well as keep any more issues from arising.
I knew that sharing my story with others was important. Why? Because there are so many others just like me. Struggling in silence. Hopeless. Praying for answers. Praying for relief. Praying to see their children grow up. .
I did all of that. And now I pray to be lead to those that were like me. Those that need hope, relief, and a quality of life they only see in their dreams. Those that are open and ready to seeing what is on the other side.
The years and years I struggled, are leading to years without struggles. Everyday I see more changes that show me how far I've come in the healing process. While I can not yet say I am in remission, I know it is on the horizon! And man, is it a beautiful site! ♥️

Have you ever really wanted to do something but said no or backed out last minute with a lame excuse because you were too nervous or scared? And then after the fact you’re sitting there having FOMO pissed at yourself for not just doing it?! Yeah. Me too. 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Speaking in front of people has always been way outside of my comfort zone. It still is. But when I got presented with the opportunity to guest speak on a training tonight, I ignored the butterflies in my stomach and said yes.
Was it easy. NOPE.
But you know what made it easier? Knowing I’m surrounded by other women invested in my success who cheer me on no matter what I accomplish or how hard I fall.
What does that translate to? CONFIDENCE. In this coaching life but also in my personal life. When you do hard things, even though you’re SCARED, magic happens every time. Jump with me, your parachute will open, I promise. 👯♀️
It’s time for #AskDrHunter . This week we’ll be discussing a question regarding wheat allergies! “Dr. Hunter, I’m not sure if I’m allergic to wheat. How can I tell?" —Allison L. from Detroit, MI
Thank you for your inquiry Allison. Nearly everyone is allergic to today’s wheat, both white and whole, and I advise that you avoid it as much as possible. Wheat is a primary cause of weight struggles, fibromyalgia, acne, bloating, and most all digestion issues, as well as many psychological symptoms such as brain fog, poor sleep, irritability, depression, etc. If you have these symptoms, STOP your wheat intake and notice how much better you feel! Substitute raw nuts, grains such as amaranth, farro, red quinoa, wild rice, vegetables that are right for your blood type and lots of good quality olive oil, and you will not miss the wheat. There are many great recipes for seed breads!

Today is #NationalUndiagnosedDay , and for so many years of my life that one word held such weight. Undiagnosed, 11 letters. A common misunderstanding people have is when they see those who are actively searching for answers, and constantly get back clean test results and get told by doctors "that this or that is healthy and there's no problem" is that we are wishing for problems, wishing to be sick, wishing to have this hard, weary life of having a life-changing diagnosis.
This is unequivocally false. When we get disappointed by clean test results or get turned away by another doctor because we don't qualify for their diagnosis markers, it's because we had hope that we might FINALLY understand why our bodies fail us in the way that they do. How can we fight a monster if we don't know what it is? We aren't wishing for problems or diseases. We are longing for ANSWERS. We are hoping for an explanation as to why we are physically falling apart.
#NationalUndiagnosedDay represents all of the tired souls out there feeling conflicted after leaving a doctor's office with a clean bill of health, going to bed dreaming of the day they'll finally get some answers. I see you, I feel you. Stay hopeful and stay strong 💙 #chronicpainwarrior
"She wore her troubled past like scars -- she had been through battle, and though no one could see her demons, they could see the face that conquered them." 💙 #chronicpainwarrior
"You're so calm and quiet, you never say. But there are things inside you. I see them sometimes, hiding in your eyes."
Because not every day is all smiles and happy feelings, a rare look into my world on a high-pain day ❤ #chronicpainwarrior

Our God is a God who is with us in the nights we cry ourselves to sleep, the moments we feel like we don't fit in, and the times that we feel like the world is on our shoulders. He knows, He listens, and He is there. 💚 #chronicpainwarrior
