Being a family caregiver isn't a part-time job, it isn't a full-time job, it's a lifestyle. True, no one would choose to have a loved one be sick. Yet, illness, disease, and injury are all a part of life. Your perspective on how you choose to look at your caregiving situation is what will make the difference between a positive caregiving journey and a negative one. I know because I've been there. When I looked at caregiving as just another thing to be managed, I missed out on so many key moments and memories. It wasn't until I fully started embracing the fact that caregiving was now my new normal that I was able to make that mindset shift that led me to create my own business to help other caregivers. Until I made that shift I wasn't able to include my self-care. I realigned my priorities to make myself the first and when that change took effect then everything else started to align. #caregiving#lifestyle#familycaregiver#mindset#selfcare#priorities#perspective#wellness

I still struggle to share this kind of thing with the world. I mean, just reading it back I seem pretty messed up. But at the same time, I seem exactly like I am - someone who struggles with clinical depression, anxiety and a lifetime of feeling inferior and inadequate. But at the same time, someone who fights and keeps going. Someone who accepts that these things will happen, possibly every day, and will still keep moving ahead. Someone who pushes past depression to care for his grandparents every day. I share these things, as hard as it is, because I know there are people out there who feel this way and have lost hope. People like me who might feel like no one else can relate to them. People who feel alone and need to know they are not. People who need to know it is possible to live with these conditions and fight through. This example of my morning isn't indicative of how every day goes. But during tougher times, it's pretty common. If you're struggling with mental health, please know that you are not alone. It may not seem like it, but it IS possible to change. It's hard. It takes everything you've got sometimes, but it's always better to fight than quit. And if you fight enough, it gets easier. It does. Never easy, but easier. I believe in you and you are stronger than you know. WE are.

Wherever you are... be all there. ...
Presence. The chosen topic from my students last night during the meditation class at an Alzheimer’s caregiver support group. ... For all those treading the waters of taking care of yourself while caring for others, bravo to you. I know it’s not easy holding the needs and wants of everyone. It’s vital that you learn how to rest when you can and take care of yourself also. #mindfulness#takingcare#presence#caregiving#takerest#villageoftheheights
Theme of the day: Wellness with water 💦🏊💧🚣 #ActiveAgingWeek
Consuming the recommended daily amount of water for your body is one of the simplest way to improve your personal wellness. But, one of the most exciting way to incorporate water into your wellness program is by doing aqua aerobics or just good old fashion swimming. The benefits are so many and not to mention it can be an extremely fun activity for all ages. It is also very popular with older adults due to it being easier on the body.
🔸Alleviates pressure on joints
🔸Build endurance and strength
🔸Improve muscle strength and tone
🔸Reduces blood pressures
🔸Low impact exercise and much more........
Check your local community centres to see what classes and programs are being offered for older adults and families and get active!!!!!!

The rates for obesity, heart disease, and diabetes have been at epic proportions and is anticipated to grow. Even worse, this conditions have been and continue to affect children! So what can be done about these epidemics which continue to spread? This is one of many reasons which drove me to become a Certified Health Coach.
You may be wondering, “What does a certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach mean?”
As written in the Huffington Post, “Health coaching, also referred to as wellness coaching, is a process that facilitates healthy, sustainable behavior change by challenging a client to listen to their inner wisdom, identify their values, and transform their goals into action.”
The certification in Integrative Nutrition is only granted to those who’ve completed a year long course through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and met the graduation requirements. Students are taught a wide range of topics pertaining to wellness, nutrition, fitness, business, and more. It’s also acronymed as “INHC.”
An Integrative Nutrition Health Coach approaches a client’s health journey holistically, and also understands nutrition is bio-individual; one person’s food is another person’s poison. #prevention#holistichealth#parenting#caregiving#selfcare#certifiedhealthcoach#lifestyledwithay
