I still find it so hard to believe that I have actually run a half marathon🤷🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ My running journey started 233 days ago & I couldn’t even run 1km without stopping. I am so unbelievably proud of myself to have ran for @alzheimerssoc 💙 my life now consists of putting a reminder on my phone to remind me that @run4wales 10km Series goes on sale next week 🤣🏃🏼♀️ thank you @alzheimerssoc for the little gesture ☕️ and thank you for helping people live well with dementia ✨ #foraworldwithoutdementia#unitedagainstdementia#run4wales#cardiffhalf#runthediff
So this is now a thing. A very real thing. I will be taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon. It is a decision I haven't taken lightly, partly because anyone that knows me, knows I don't run. I probably wouldn't run if I was being chased, to be honest! But I do walk. Fast. Everywhere, and I figure that Is a good starting point. And I have almost a year to train. I will be doing it mainly in my dad's memory, for Stand Up To Cancer, and it is particularly poignant as it will be happening on what would have been his 78th birthday, 6 October 2019. I have chosen Cardiff not just for the date, but also because Wales is very close to my heart, as it was my dads, since he was evacuated there as a child in WW2. It is the perfect choice. It will be an emotional journey Wish me luck; I think I'm going to need it ❤❤❤
Better late than never?
I've forgotten to do any updates for a while so here's a quick recap of the last month. - Cardiff Half 7th October 2018 🏴 ☀️
Loved this race, the weather we perfect and the crowds were brilliant, especially going through the student streets with the boomboxes 💃. My plan was to stick with the pacer if I could but by 5km I was feeling ok so moved ahead slightly. I really enjoyed this race (apart from the last 3 miles 😫) and all my niggly injuries were fine. I knew I was on for a pb as I finished ahead of the pacer but it turns out they were a minute ahead which meant I knocked 6.5 minutes off my pb finishing in 2.13.19! I was so over the moon with that time and it actually felt easier than my previous pb at GNR 2015 😀. Also a massive congrats to @mgbxx on her first half! - Great South Run 21st October 2018 ⚓🌡
10 mile run in Portsmouth. Another sunny run but actually slightly too warm. I didn't race this so really enjoyed it, great day out with the gang from Rebel Runners. Also managed to win £100 for my fundraising on the bus on the way home! 💚

Sometimes you have to close your eyes & power through the darkness to climb the mountain of life to appreciate the views.
No mountain is an easy ride particularly that of life. But the summit is the most beautiful. It doesn't matter how long it takes to reach, as long as we reach, life is like a marathon, slow and steady wins the race 🤗
