With Beaujolais Day in 48 hours it's perfect timing to chat @veeno_cardiff's 'Family Vineyard'. Enjoyed 5 glasses of Sicilian wine along with that big ol' 'spuntini' (nibbles) in the centre in a cosy setting. Cured meats, fresh bread, cheese and an incredible black olive paté soaked up a range of white, rosé and reds 😋 Just don't get up too quickly at the end! #Veeno#BeaujolaisDay#FatBast
Throwback to last year’s work christmas dinner at @_the_classroom . I know dessert looks like a 💩 but I really loved this meal, the setting was lovely and the place filled up and I remember really enjoying myself 💓 I just had a look at the autumn menu and want to go again, completely forgot about it (dumbballs road, never really walk down there) until I found these pics on my phone. I remember the roast was just delicious as was the starter, I’ll be honest I have no memory of eating dessert as we had so much to drink by that point. I had a mulled wine martini there too which was banging 🍸 🍷 Restaurant is at the top of @cavcinsta (Cardiff & Vale College) and the people in the kitchen and serving you are hospitality and catering students. Prices are super reasonable for really good food 👍 #theclassroom#cavc#cardiffandvalecollege
First visit to the Boat House in Sully (formerly the Sully Inn) after a refurb in the summer. The nautical theme downstairs felt like being in my bathroom and the jungle theme upstairs was akin to a naff Nando's rip-off but the food was great! Fish goujons to start, a massive seafood linguine in between a rich chocolate brownie. Overall, worth venturing off the beaten track for 👌 #pubgrub#dinner#FatBast
F A L A F E L - K I T C H E N 📌 Crwys Road 📸 #Repost of @imogenfin via @EasyRepost - tis the season for falafel, falalalalalalalafel
have you ever written off cardiff as a place to visit because it’s oh so far away in ~wales~? well i bet you falafel now 😎
@falafel_kitchen is one of my absolute favourite places in cardiff, and if you visit you’ll realise why
it doesn’t look like too much from outside, but boy is it good. the service is lovely and super friendly, and the food is even better
i always go for the falafel plate (or sometimes half falafel half spicy tofu) with rice (they cook the falafel fresh!), but if you’re feeling welsh you can go for half-half rice and chips
you can take it away in a pitta, but the bonus of sitting in is you get that fluffy, airy, pillowy and light-as-a-cloud pitta anyway AND you have the mind-blowingly good salad bar - which you can revisit as many times as you like
it has tabbouleh and houmous and tahini and pickles and sesame carrots and olives and basically anything your heart desires. GO THERE NOW!!
THANK GOODNESS IT'S FRIDAY🎉
We made it through another week team❤️ Time to have a break and unwind, at least for a few hours🙌 You've got to give yourself some time to breathe, to reflect on the week and be proud of all you've achieved, no matter how small💯 Getting into the weekend the best way I know how... Food🤤 Hello Ramen🍜
Happy Friday people of Instagram. To celebrate, grab a coffee and something to eat at Uncommon Ground Coffee Roastery, one of our favourites☕️🥪 This delicious-looking lunch is a streaky bacon, creamy cheese and Canadian maple syrup bagel served HOT. There are a few other coffee shops and eateries in our arcades, choose your destination using the link in our bio.. 📸 @_uncommonground
Happy Belated Diwali... Coincidentally my line manager recommended this place last night for a simple, affordable dinner. It was quiet with just three tables yesterday.
I decided to try their thali as I can’t recall when was the last time I had one or maybe never. I’m quite well verse with Indian cuisine, I’ve had my fair share over the years.
I was told that being quiet is unusual for this place. The food did arrive quite quickly. Although I wasn’t too sure about the plating up for my thali as I felt it looked like bits and bobs leftover slapped onto a tray. The chicken curry was nice, not spicy enough for a spicy fan like myself but filling and tasty enough to fulfil my hungry barrel. Hmmm, maybe that’s how a thali is supposed to be or I was plain hungry wanting more than I was expecting, I dunno...
The basmati rice was a small portion in comparison with the naan served on the side. The naan complimented the dhal while the rice complimented the chicken. That was potentially the highlight of my dish. I’d love more sauce, no naan and more rice. Perhaps I’m bias as I had a big day yesterday and prolly thali wasn’t the best choice of the day. My line manager ordered a lamb briyani and was stuffed. The portion was generous and I assure you, it could be a portion shared by two. Perhaps my next trip here, I may potentially give this a second go and change my mind. Let’s see!
If you haven’t already, you NEED to get to @wagamama_uk and try the ‘Avant-Gard’n’ dish 🌱 created by Cardiff’s own @gazoakley @avantgardevegan available at both Cardiff restaurants and @noodlelab_uk 🍜 if this is what Vegans eat all day- Sign me up!😍 Congrats Gaz 🙌🏽
"There's no such thing as a free lunch". Well, there is when Magic Wrap need to test their new ordering system! Salad and not a wrap, yes, but that pulled pork was so good, crikey. No regrets here. Great to get a preview of the refurbished Barrack Lane shop! The staff did a great job and knocked together some damn good lunch. Re-Opens officially tomorrow! #TapWrapAndGo#MagicWrap#FatBast
These were the Porthilly oysters with dill & apple granita, on offer at the preview launch party for @heaneyscardiff a couple of weeks ago. Super refreshing and delicious, if these couldn’t convince you to give oysters a try, nothing will.
I may have eaten quite a few... 🤭
