having a nice bowl of pineapple for breakfast! monomeals (a meal consisting of one food) have become so important in my diet lately, I've been doing a lot of research on food combining and learning how to help my body digest properly! I feel so detoxed and energized! 💛☀️
You know it's going to be a good day when you start it with a pool all to yourself😁Very few people attending my gym use the pool on winter mornings at 5am- I'm not complaining!🏊Carbed up with a 6🍌& @myproteinza smooth chocolate vegan blend smoothie💪
Look up, you see a beautiful #summer sky. Look down, you see a plate of your favorite Italian cuisine (courtesy of us, of course! 💁♀️) Now THAT'S what summer dreams are made of! 📷 @gymleadersaira 😌 #HuntingtonBeach#IlBarone#SummerNights
Grain-Free tostada plus a new strategy - carb up night w/ less fat. What?! Why LESS FAT as a promoter of a high fat diet!? According to @healthfulpursuit (author of The Keto Diet)- in regards to following a keto diet, being able to benefit from a carb-up & still stay fat adapted (vs. being a sugar burner), when adding starchy carbs to a meal (the key here is MEAL - not ALL DAY), you need to swap out the fat. Why would someone do a carb-up if they follow a ketodiet? If you are like me, an athlete (I have reclaimed that designation) & are working on balancing hormones (on the heels of healing adrenal dysfunction) & dealing with a stubborn plateau, a carb-up approach is key. My main LOVE for being on a keto diet is mental acuity - as in being sharp & focused but of course like anyone, I NEED my hormones to be balanced too (those two things go hand & hand anyway). This is my own n=1. I can say this much, my run this morning after this carb up meal last night was the BEST yet & I even got less sleep last night since my cat woke me up at 5 am. I’m not actively doing keto right now (as in measuring ketones) but I eat very low carb in general. I’m going to start implementing this carb-up strategy a couple nights a week to see what happens. I’ve been playing w/ a very low carb/cyclic carb/keto approach since about 2010. I’ve been cycling in & out & sometimes go longer than other times. This approach was *similar* to what I did for my sons back in 2011, which produced remarkable results, athletically, academically, & behaviorally (& SO much more). I’ve been individualize this approach with my athlete clients but not w/this particular strategy of lowering fat w/starchy carbs. I’m still learning a lot about all the nuances with keto. I think we all are. I’m thrilled that @dianesanfilippo is writing her next book based on keto too. I nutrition nerd out on this stuff! What about you, have you experimented with lowering your fat intake in your carb-up meal while on keto or while on an otherwise very low carb diet? Please share your experience!
