Wondering how I explain the characters from In The Night Garden to my 17 month old, he says dog, I say no darling that's not a dog but actually I have no idea what that is. He then says tractor, no darling it looks like a fish, but it's not a flying fish, so I'm not sure what that is. Was the creator of this on drugs? Anyone else having this dilemma?
We’ve been in bed all day and that’s ok with me. This morning kaiden complained of not feeling well so I let him stay home and rest. We slept in until 10am, we ate soup for breakfast now we are just resting.
Im catching up on some good reads and enjoying a cup of tea.
Oh and would you believe kaiden took this photo.
I’ve yet to learn how to use my Tripod.
Smiles on smiles on smiles on smiles 💕 Ps I forgot what you do in terms of sleeping when they start to roll around onto their sides and nearly onto their stomach so if you know, let’s hear it 💁🏼♀️✌🏼PSS thank you for the outpouring of love re my grandmothers passing. It was so very much appreciated xo
By now, you know we’re all a little batty over here for Halloween 🎃 👻 with Ava’s birthday being ON Halloween we’ve always kind of lived up the holiday ever since she was born! What Holiday is your favorite!?
“There are a few things in life so beautiful they hurt: swimming in the ocean while it rains, reading alone in empty libraries, the sea of stars that appear when you’re miles away from the neon lights of the city, bars after 2am, walking in the wilderness, all the phases of the moon, the things we do not know about the universe, and you.” ✨ ❤️
Today at the office I stumbled upon you in the rest room and you asked me out on a date on Friday. As if it were the first time, you timidly giggled while asking what my plans were for Friday, while you knew exactly that my plans mainly consist of juggling work and taking care of our daughter, Greta.
I loved how cherished you made me feel, how you managed to bring warmth in the middle of a work day.
Forever in love with you ✨❤️

The ‘bunny ears’ as Flo calls them seem to come out in every single photo at the moment 🤣 love this little mini me though, she’s my little superstar and I missed her and her bro loads at the weekend. Funny how you’re desperate for some time away and when you’re ‘free’ you just look at cute little kids in the street and miss your own 💕 still, everything in moderation! Motherhood is hard work and it’s ok to need some time out xx
“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”
One thing I’m always trying to stir up in my girls in their creative side. I discovered @jelloplay recently, and it is the perfect creative outlet to share with Presley. We built a yacht (per her request), a dolphin cruiser, boat dock, and lots of ocean creatures. The best part - it’s all edible!

Both of his great grandmas were piano / music teachers and I’m pretty sure he got most of his musicality from them. It’s sad to think my grandma won’t be playing this piano anymore and that another family will be living in this house that holds 50+ years of our family’s memories. They say transitions are very hard for kids and they should be handled with care and thought. The same goes for adults I think. Transitions from one phase of life to the other is no easy task, so we tread lightly and stay present in hopes of seeing the beauty in it all.
How was your weekend?! .
After a few weeks of being quarantined at home, we got out of the house this weekend. Ate yummy food on Magazine Street, hit the mall, saw the light of day and just enjoyed family time together.
The BEST post from @thismumindevon today. I've been eyeing this up for months but couldn't decide on a colour (soz for the 18374939 messages Jo 😂), but I'm so glad I kept it simple with grey as now I can wear it all the bleddy time! Currently drinking tea in it 😉 And if you fancy one yourself you can get 10% off by using 'ALFIE10' at checkout.
Easy Peasy Caldo de Albóndigas is a family favorite over here. I’ve made it twice this week but I’m not complaining. It’s so easy. I also made handmade tortillas for the first time today and they were so good.

Pardon our prolonged break from posting for The Mother’s Voice. I’ll simply blame it on, well… Life. I am so grateful for all the followers and supporters of The Mothers Voice, and have been feeling an itch to get back at it. Although I won’t be posting and reposting up a storm, I will carve out a bit of my time towards writing and also reading/reposting the inspiring and endearing stories and thoughts from all you mamas.
My daughter and I have shared such memorable and tender moments and I have to say, I feel we are more bonded than ever. She is entering into her glorious ‘two’s’. I am finding this age to be so incredibly special, and while there may be some moments of tears and tantrums, there are so many more moments filled with laughter and love.
During our recent travels to the East Coast and since our return, Nova has had a brief toddler experiment with biting; to be more specific, biting mommy. During moments of my distractions and ‘adulting’ (talking to other adults, washing dishes…), Nova’s neediness and energy would grow and culminate into taking a sizeable chomp, with her near complete set of toddler teeth, on my arms and back of my legs. Unsure how to properly deal with this painful phase, I turned to my mama friend who found an article highlighting some valuable points about what they are going through in these moments and how to deal.
Trying them out post-bite, I get down to eye level and ask her “What’s going on Nova? What is it that you are needing? Are you Ok?” And almost every time (to my surprise) she would study my eyes and my words and plant a kiss on my lips! .
I may have some bruises and bits of missing flesh, but my heart is always full of love when I make these connections with little Nova. Pretty sure there isn’t a soul on this earth who would deny that sometime ‘Love Hurts’. ♥️
My little pumpkins 💛 lovely afternoon picking our own pumpkins after spending most of the day bridesmaid dress shopping with the girls 💕 This one learnt to walk in wellies, tripped over several pumpkins and face planted the mud a lot! Happy Sunday!
Hey 👋. Topic: have you ever tried to come up with a name for a business/blog/Instagram? You’re trying so hard to get it right, so absolutely spot on, that it can stop you just bloody well getting on with it. I chose Not About The Kids in a little bit of a rush last year, at least in part because no one else was using it. It worked for me on a couple of levels. First, I was doing something that wasn’t about my children for the first time in years. Second, I intentionally didn’t want to create content about kids or mum life. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I have my doubts 🤔. As another little anniversary celebration, I’ve written a bit more about the thinking in the name, and the idea behind my blog and Instagram ⭐️ the link to read is in my bio ⭐️.
🌟 9 MONTHS OLD 🌟 Baby girl grew up leaps and bounds this past month // She is crawling all over, eager to explore every inch of our house // She started pulling herself up to standing // Finally started eating solids // She dances and claps // Gives mama the best slobbery kisses and daddy the sweetest hugs // She won’t kiss Derek, it has got to be the beard // “Dada” got her first word, with “mama” coming in a close second. 💛
