Cape Verde X Lisbon //\\ I was fortunate to stumble across this gem in the ancient Alfambra neighborhood of Lisbon. Restaurant Mesa Kreol opened by a Cape Verdean brings together flavors and cultures of African countries that were former colonies of Portugal. This restaurant matches the competition of fine dining in the area by delivery a community feel along with a delicious meal! This spot was revelatory of how connected the Cape Verdean diaspora remains in Lisbon.
Happy hump day fam! We've been offline and off the grid for the last couple days. Why? Because we've been staying in a volcanic crater on the island of Fogo in Cape Verde. This pic is just after summiting Pico do Fogo, the active volcano that dominates the stunning landscape.
Fogo is one of 10 islands that make up this beautiful country. We'll make our way through four of them before heading back to the states. A full review of what we ate and how we lived out here is forthcoming. For now, we'll say it is nothing short of incredible. Don't sleep on this African nation. Pictures will not do it justice. Add it to your travel bucket list and it won't disappoint.
