#InstaEats presents #InstaEatsHomeMade featuring @everyday_gor_may_i_eat
Inspiration struck again. I was reminded of my youth of how my mom used to make masala fried snoek with really crispy skin with Dahl and chips. (Lord knows how I didn't end up rolling out of the house). Now I've made the dish plenty of times before but I decided to refine it a bit and put some added extras in. So here's what I made.
Masala fried hake. I used cumin, lemon and herb, leaf masala, tumeric and a tiny bit of chilli powder. I also made Dahl (is that how it's spelt) and a spicy rice which had some saffron in with crispy fried onions accompanied by a sambal which is simply tomato flesh with green peppers, red onions cucumber and lime juice with chilli flakes. I also made some crispy potato wedges. For some different texture.

Day 3 😇 #12daysincapetown
Bootlegger cafe for breakfast again 😂 then we headed to this incredible market called Biscuit Mill. It’s only open on Saturdays and it is packed with food vendors of all different kinds of cuisines, trendy fashion boutiques, live music, organic juice bars and handmade goods by local artisans. I paid $1.50 for a massive serving of watermelon slices from the organic produce section and the girls got some cucumber mint juices 😋
For dinner we decided on Asian food, and ended up at this cute little spot with a fun roof top patio called tjing tjing. You can find every type of cuisine here and they have all been so delicious it’s been a trip of walking and eating 🤤 We’ve also been taking Uber’s everywhere in the evening because they are so cheap (never more than 7 dollars) and we bar hop most nights on Breë St. 🤗
I was warned many times that Cape Town wasn’t safe but I feel very safe here during the day and at night we just don’t act like idiots and walk down sketchy alleys. Keep to yourself when appropriate and use common sense. We haven’t had any issues everyone has been extremely kind to us. ❤️ #lifeincapetown

Saturday was a bit more of a classier affair with a perfect dinner party at home, palomas on the stoep, *that* deep fried cauliflower and this incredible cake made by one of my dearest friends @beeblegum.

Day 2 ☺️ #12daysincapetown
Started my morning getting work done with coffee and chia seed pudding at bootlegger cafe☺️ good food, kind staff (went on a mission for me to find an adapter😅) and great atmosphere.
Cape Town is a very health conscious city most restaurants use honey or maple syrup as alternatives for sugar, have organic free range eggs and have healthy organic vegetarian options at most if not all locations.
It’s been overcast here and a tad rainy so we went back to the mall to get SIM cards for our phones. The cheapest we found were from a company called HI, about 30 dollars Canadian for the card and 5G of data.
We hiked Signal hill and almost made it to the top..😂
We decided on Indian food that night and went to a cute little place called Vintage India. Just to put into perspective how much cheaper our meals are, it was $36.00 Canadian in total for 3 people to eat!!
On the way back we stopped at this vegan ice cream place called unframed and we are 100000 percent going back before we leave 😂 I got the tahini chocolate and vanilla bean, it was the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had😍😍😍😍.
We popped into this really cool place called the secret gin bar, it’s a “secret” because the entrance to the bar fronts as a chocolate shop😋 so you need to walk all the way to the back to know it’s there. Very cool vibe, good music and the drinks are flavoured so well you can’t taste the alcohol 🤪 #capetownlife .
You can just smell those delicious tomatoes, the fresh mussels and that parsley. Yummmmmm! We've just sat down to enjoy Sup 12, a feast organised by our very good friend @andrewmichaelkai and his very good friend @mafreemantle. We're expecting this stunning dish alongside Korean short beef rib, white gazpacho, yellowtail Asian style and more. Oh, and this experience wouldn't be the same if I didn't have my foodie in crime @obroli ❤️ Let the gluttony begin!
