“This is the season she will make beautiful things. Not perfect things but honest things that speak to who she is and who she is called to be.” - Morgan Harper Nichols
Every day I reminisce of our trip home, and how much it has changed me. How much I enjoyed learning about my family, their values and the talents that have crossed through generations. It has made me think about the legacy I want to leave behind and the traditions I want to hold onto. I find myself holding onto hope longer, loving deeper than ever but best of all, feeling peace of what’s yet to come.

Je ne sais pas si vous pensez la même chose mais je trouve que l’automne me permet d’être beaucoup plus créative niveau vêtements et maquillage! J’adore les couleurs d’automne ❤️
Happy Friday friends! It's been awhile (or maybe ever??) since I properly introduced myself on here. I'm Heidi and I'm the Mama, and writer, behind Itsy Bitsy Haligonians. My husband and I have two kids, a seven year old daughter and a five year old son, and we've lived in various parts of the HRM for most (or ALL in the kids' cases!) of our lives.
Growing up I knew I always wanted to be a writer, and then, in my early twenties, I worked at a community resource centre and fell in love with helping people find the information they needed to build a strong community. Itsy BItsy Haligonians, is basically a mash-up of those two passions!
As a family we love exploring our city, being outside in nature, hiking or biking, checking out the latest playground or local event, reading lots and lots of books, and sharing the scoop on amazing local businesses and organizations that support and serve Halifax families (and then sharing all of the information we gather on the blog so you can enjoy these things too!). Thanks for following along with us - I'd love to hear a bit about what your family loves to do together in Halifax in the comments!

I didn’t want to be the mom that is always scared. Always worrying too much. The one that never wears make up and that use a scrunchie on her hair. I didn’t want to be the mom that her house looks like shit. The one that cooks when she can and spends lots of hours working. .
Little did I know that i’ll be loving myself like never before while being that mom. .
Are you the mother that you always thought you’ll be? ❤️ #unitedinmotherhood#motherhoodunplugged

INSPIRATION: not that that’s the most important part of a relationship, but nothing gets me going to the gym or to workout like @seedavedo nagging me 😂 I think they call that motivation? 😂 I’ve talked about this @gnccanada #GNCGetLit preworkout before, but having used it for a full month, it has become as important to our workout routine as each other 😏 I exclusively use the gummy worm flavour because what’s better than non-candy candy before a workout 😂 Happy LIT Friday friends ❤️ *ad
👇🏻Would you try anything if it was gummy worm flavoured ? 😂😏👇🏻

I’ve lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember. The depression came in spurts like a dark cloud on a rainy day except eventually the cloud lingered without any rain so much so that it felt normal. I felt “normal”. I was constantly stressed and in a bad mood and I thought that was what adulthood was all about.
One night I got in my car and drove while I sobbed. I kept repeating, “I’m just so sad.” That was the moment I realized I needed to seek help. I started medication that week and finally feel like myself.
I tried every natural remedy - herbs, yoga, meditation, exercise, diets to regulate my hormones, vitamins... the works but none of them helped the way I needed them to.
It’s so nice to feel genuine joy again. I didn’t realize how low I’d gotten until I felt this good again. #mentalhealthmatters
