This weekend I had a good time at my friends wedding! Nothing wrong with that just a lot, a lot, of eating and drinking.
I decided to fast starting Sunday night and eat again Monday night. First, I did it because I just wasn’t hungry. No reason to eat when you know your not hungry (try telling me that this weekend and I would have disagreed with you). Thats one of the things I believe fasting does well in that it helps us to be more aware of when we are actually hungry instead of eating around the labels known as (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Second, I just wanted to reduce some inflammation and that bloated feeling from everything consumed throughout the past couple of days. If you ever want a good reset or “cleanse” to heal your gut fasting is the way to go. It beats out all the sugar… sorry…I meant juice cleanses out there. For most it even helps them to remain very focused probably one of the reasons it has been around since biblical times in order to fully engage in worship and important decisions.
Fasting can have just as many negative effects to ones body as it has benefits. People who often decide to fast do it because of the attraction of weight loss. Most people going into this are sugar burners and rely heavily on carbs to get through the day. Combine the two and it might be very difficult to get through a period of time without food let alone a whole day. What people don’t understand is fasting is a stress to your body, add that up with all the other stress you go through throughout the day and it might be a recipe for disaster. My last concern is people who do it don’t understand they still need to meet their calorie needs. Putting yourself in a calorie deficit for to long will have negative effects to your metabolism. I don’t think people fully understand how to go about replenishing their bodies during a fast. Most think “hey I’m eating less” therefore I am going to keep losing more! Those two other meals your going to consume throughout the day are just as important as the one you missed. This is why fasting for some can lead to negative effects and even more adversed eating problem . All I’m saying is ——> go to comments for end rant!
