Hi everyone, this is @clodagh_mckenna! I absolutely love this part of the Wild Atlantic Way as its where I grew up and where I come back to visit throughout the year. You’ve probably seen me post lots of insta stories of dreamy beach walks or delicious plates of seafood from Kerry and West Cork over the years. The Wild Atlantic Way coastline in Kerry and West Cork is truly breathtaking and the fresh air is so revitalising, we call it ‘Champagne Air’ as it makes you feel so alive! Check out the video link in my bio to see some more of this beautiful countryside! #WildAtlanticWay#CallOfTheWild
"I think the kind of landscape that you grew up in, it lives with you. I don't think it's true of people who've grown up in cities so much; you may love a building, but I don't think that you can love it in the way that you love a tree or
or a river or the colour of the earth; it's a different kind of love." Arundhati Roy
Love for country is such a powerful thing. It seeps into you, I think - the colours of the landscape, the smell of the air, the shapes of the trees and rocks and land. The way the rain and wind sounds. The quality of the light. I remember when I was overseas for a few years in the UK. I just loved it there. So many beautiful and picturesque places, and so incredibly GREEN! I didn't want to come back to Australia. Then I opened a letter from home and out dropped a dried gum leaf. That was it for me - as soon as I smelt that wonderful eucalyptus smell of the bush I felt the call of the land tugging at my soul.
What's your experience? Are you happiest in your native land, or have you embraced a new country, and now that feels more like home? And what about Roy's comment that one can't feel the same love for a city? Do you think that's true?
Podcast interview with @connerwanders - A good reminder today as I take shelter by the wood stove in the log cabin while snow silently piles up outside that while connecting to the wild doesn't always come easy, the experience can be far-reaching. If you're in the mood for a contemplative conversation about holistic hunting and the connections than ensue, check out the recording @gettherealness. Photo by @humannaturecooking
Dreaming of long, warm summer days spent kayaking and swimming
I love winter time, but the short days and cold weather absolutely kill my motivation. I just want to spend all day in bed watching Harry Potter and eating comfort food 😁 haha •

Some nights the sounds of the ocean wake me from a sound sleep. It’s so real and disorienting to hear this roaring call from the depths of the wild. It feels like a sixth sense and it began on this day captured above.
I remind myself it’s only been 4 months since being home reintegrating into society and it will take time to actually return... or I never really will.
One of the most powerful aspects of this love affair with the sea is that she chose me. It hasn’t always been this way. I was the Manhattan girl, the city hopper not the island hopper despite my roots in forests and jungles. The connection, which at times has me feeling like an observer has taken on a life of its own. and wherever I am the sea is in me.
I remember taking field trips to Jack London Park in school when I was younger, but as I've gotten older, I've grown to truly appreciate the beauty of this natural space 🌿
When visiting Glen Ellen, I recommend starting your morning off by stopping into the Glen Ellen Market in town to pick up deli sandwiches and snacks before heading to @jacklondonpark for a hike and picnic lunch 🧺 The park contains over 29 miles of trails throughout the 1,400 acre property and I love checking out the stunning views and historic buildings that belonged to famous writer, Jack London, when I visit 📝
Have you been to Jack London Park before? 🤗
Between the wild heart of my spirit animal within, I am empowered and made fierce, loyal and free, and the human face of the man I must present to the world, I seek to balance these often contradictory forces. I am not always successful, at times I give in to my anger or my appetite, at others I am consumed by my intellect and my detachment. For as we are all made up of many different influences and Divergent emotions, the best we can do is to seek a balance and to be the truest expression of everything within. I only wish to grow, the only thing I seek to control is myself, and the only thing I seek to dominate is my errant will. #spiritanimal#spiritguide#beastwithin#native#aboriginal#bloodpack#redwolf#alpha#balance#callofthewild#ascension#loyalty#beyondmyself#unity#frailty#ferocity

"Here was neither peace, nor rest, nor a moment's safety. All was confusion and action, and every moment life and limb were in peril. There was imperative need to be constantly alert; for these dogs and men were not town dogs and men. They were savages, all of them, who knew no law but the law of club and fang. #callofthewild
