The beginning of my Elsa dresses series! The first picture is very obviously her coronation gown from the movie; likely made of some kind of cotton with a felt cape and satin ribbon trim on the bodice, which is not in itself the corset but has a corset underneath, and velvet sleeves. The think is, the outfit has vague historical accuracy but really is just designed to juxtapose her Snow Queen dress and show how she never truly let go of the part of her that is Arendelle. The velvet trim of the cape collar and the way the cape comes down from that trim instead of simply hanging over the shoulders, the sweetheart neckline on the bodice—if you were to trace the outline of the different pieces of clothing, you would have roughly the same shapes as the Snow Queen dress forms. Velvet would not have been skin-tight in that time period, that’s the main issue. But it still also bears resemblance to actual historical dresses, to a degree at least.
The second picture is Elsa’s coronation gown from the Broadway musical. The dress is made of taffeta, both the sleeves and the bodice/skirt, and the cape is felt. It’s a fair bit more realistic to actual historic clothing, even if not necessarily the particular time period Frozen is set in.
The third picture is my personal redesign of Elsa’s coronation gown. I was heavily inspired by actual 1800s Norwegian royal attire, for example Queen Maud of Norway, as well as other redesigns for Historically Accurate Elsas people have made.
Following is her Snow Queen gown from the movie, and a wedding dress from my story, again designed with Queen Maud in mind.
Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I absolutely love and adore @pattimurin ! I love her heart and her soul and her kindness. And I love her openness. It is so meaningful having her to look up to because she has anxiety just like me. Patti is a light in this world and so many people feel less alone because of her. I’ve met so many beautiful souls simply because of our shared admiration of Patti. Anyways I recently sent Patti some candy for Halloween and asked if she would be so kind as to send me a signed playbill. Well in true Patti fashion she went above and beyond. This is what I received. Everything except the stickers are signed. I’d also sent a letter to @caissielevy who is such a sweet soul and who eludes such warmth, and I’d asked Patti if Caissie could sign the playbill too and she did! These two ladies are a gift and I am unbelievably grateful for and to them. I know that sometimes I come off as bragging but it truly isn’t my intention. I am honestly so grateful for the kindness so many people show me on a regular basis and on days when I’m feeling ungrateful I want to look back at my Instagram feed and realize that I’ve been so blessed in life and that I have more than I need to be happy. Sending all of you beautiful humans reading this a big, warm hug and a wish for a great week. Xoxo. #playbill#frozenonbroadway#pattimurin#caissielevy#youarebeautiful
That time I got to sit front row of @frozenbroadway ❄️ seeing Elsa and Anna’s costumes so close was a dream come true. Especially seeing the “Monster” costume up close and getting to see the incredible detail was amazing. One of the best productions I’ve ever seen. also Instagram is murdering the quality of my video :(
@caissielevy is JUST PERFECT and her voice is PURE GOLD ❄️.
Só sei que nem saí e já quero voltar!!!
Now that I’m back home from a long weekend in New York, I’m finally able to sit down and talk about how phenomenal @frozenbroadway was. I had the extreme fortune of sitting in Row B so I had a great view, and let me tell y’all that it was worth the price. Seeing the facial expressions on every person that close is a gift in the theatre, and boy did the cast deliver! Speaking of expressions, I know that @caissielevy and @pattimurin are actresses- and damn good ones at that- but seriously. It felt like they were the characters. I know they perform night after night to audiences, but being able to see their expressions up close gave me a sense of them performing the show for the first time. Not one person in the cast phoned in their performance. They gave it ten thousand percent, and I was beyond impressed. Now, you could say, “Duh, Jane, they get paid to do that,” and you’d be right. But the way Patti constantly looked at Caissie like she was the best big sister and the way that Caissie looked genuinely scared of herself makes me think they need to be paid more. Because I believed all of it. (Where the fuck are their Tonys?) Also, while we’re on the subject of expressions, @greg_hildreth nailed Olaf’s childlike whimsy. And he’s a damn fine puppeteer- even though because of his expressions, I watched him more than the puppet. Switching gears, @jelanialladin was Kristoff. Anyone who says otherwise is an ass and hasn’t seen him perform Kristoff’s Lullaby. I’d been trying to figure out the context of the song since the music came out, and when I finally saw it, (no spoilers) I was floored that I didn’t make the connection of it being in the scene it’s in. I teared up. Why wasn’t that in the movie, guys? Why? Speaking of the movie, @thejohnriddle made me want a Hans prequel, and I’ve honestly never said that before because obviously. Even knowing the outcome, John made me want more Hans. Y’all, this production, this cast, choreography, the puppets (Sven!)- everything was perfect. It was everything I wanted to see on stage and so much more. Adults will love this musical. This 32-year-old @disneyfrozen fan loved it, and I’m not ashamed to say that. Go see it.
❄️ You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. ❄️
We only live once, actually.
Which means we never have second change in our life.
As a result, in pursuit of dream and ambition is the leading thing when we are young because this is the goleden age in our life. We are full of energic, not afraid of any impediment...etc.
The most important point is - the liabilities we have are not as much as the eldership. For instance, we do not have to raise a familiy. We have less time as long as we are getting old.
Therefore, chase the future you desire courageously. Stop doubting and hesitating because you will never success if you never try 💪🏾
