Remembering the time I decided to visit the quiet village of Buscalan where I wrote the itinerary on a piece of paper. Packed my bag and headed up North alone without the assurance that it'll be a success. I slept at bus terminals, ran to chase bus schedules, had sidewalk coffee, met new friends over beer and heard their stories about travel and life. It was the best trip I ever had my whole life and I still remember every detail of it.
Something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time. Meet and get marked by the living legend, the eldest of the Butbut tribe, the last Mambabatok, the 102 year old, lovely woman Apo Whang-Od. Thank you so much, it was such an honor and pleasure to just be in your presence and watch you do your thing and of course also get marked myself with your very own signature batok of the three dots with just a pomelo thorn as your needle and a mixture of charcoal and a little water as your ink. The travel time and hike was definitely worth it. And hilarious that the rumors of you grabbing attractive men’s “personal area” are true (guess I am attractive 💁🏻♂️ 10 guys in our batch and I’m the only one she groped😅). But seriously you are perfect highlight to last month to end the year for me, thank so much and I look forward to visiting you and your tribe once again Apo. :) #ApoWhangod#WhangOd#mambabatok#batok#ethnic#traditionaltattoo#minimalist#minimal#handtapping#stickandpoke#ink#inked#travel#wanderlust#buscalan#kalinga#philippines
One of my 2018 memorable trip was going to Buscalan to get my tribal tattoo. Upon arriving in the village cute kids greeted us and just being playful. It was a trip to remember.
The sun was a universal symbol used by a many different cultures and civilizations. ... As you have learned, the sun 🌞 is a symbol of life and energy, while the moon 🌕 represents instincts and emotions. 💙💙💙 #traditionaltattoo#Buscalan#kalinga
