The Deadlift can be one of the best exercises you ever chose to do, if done correctly. The Deadlift targets your posterior chain, these are the muscles that run up the posterior part of your body. The muscles that make up this targeted area are your Hamstrings, Gluteus, erector Spinae, Trapezius and Posterior Deltoids and are essential for good posture. -

Total body training allows you to use the biggest “bang for your buck” exercises (compound movements) like squats, a variation of lifts, presses, and pulls.

These exercises involve more muscle groups, which helps you burn more calories which lead to greater fat burning.

The end result is you burn more calories and increase lean body mass for a higher metabolic rate.

The thing we want elevated to keep calories burning.

This is always my go to programme when a busy week is upon me because it allows myself to spend less hours in the gym when I have a busy week with clients. Hospital appointments and family commitments.

This week I will be covering 3 different (possible 4) full body routines. All incorporating big movements such as;
.
- Squats.
- Deadlifts.
- Pressing movements.
- Pulling Movements.
.
Each workout will only take me 1 hour. So my overall workout time this week will be 3 hours. That just over 2% of my week.

If you’ve got a busy week ahead then my tip for you is plan your gym time accordingly.

Don’t avoid the gym if times a issue just make the time you can commit in the gym as productive as you can.

Focus on the big lifts. Avoid the chit chat. And stay Committed.

I am a proponent of flexible dieting but the concept of being able to fit some unhealthy foods into your diet has caused many people to believe that all carbs are equal. They definitely are not.

Soda, candy, and chips have no nutritional value and are loaded with sugar. They won’t do anything to satisfy your hunger and will probably make you hungrier instead. Fruits, veggies, whole grain breads, rice, potatoes, and pasta contain a bunch more nutrients as well as fiber. They are better for you, will provide more sustained energy, and will fill you up.

If you want to enjoy some candy in moderation, that is fine (although I’d personally prefer cookies if I’m fitting in a treat 😁). Just don’t convince yourself that you can hit your carbs with anything under the mentality that “a carb is a carb” because even if you hit your macros, getting most of your carbs from junk is not healthy.

Fasting is the simply the absence of eating. Intermittent fasting on the other hand, puts structure into your dieting pattern. This means that you consume all of your calories during a specific window of the day, and choose not to eat for a larger window of time.

It seems like every week, there is a new and profound benefit linked to intermittent fasting; sustainable weight loss, improved brain health, protection from various diseases, but at the end of the day its just an eating schedule. It can be a very useful tool to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

I personally do it because unlike many diet plans out there that complicate life and can be expensive, fasting simplifies it and is FREE. Im not much of a breakfast person to begin with, so fasting fits into my lifestyle perfectly. Instead of splitting up my food into 6 small meals daily, I blunt my hunger by drinking  black coffee, plenty of water  and then have an 8-10 hour window to eat 2-3 big FEASTS and never go to bed hungry.

In Layman's terms - calories burned through every day activity outside of your exercise/training sessions. When you calculate how much of your week is spent training/exercising the % is going to be tiny. If you train for 1 hour 5 times per week that's still less than 3%

NEAT is particulary important if fat loss is your goal. The more you move around, the more calories you burn.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park in the furthest space from the supermarket, go for a walk at lunch, walk to the shop instead of driving, you get the idea...
