Samantha Andrea Marshall, I can't wait to see your 30 Days transformation❗ 😊 💖 it's definitely going to blow 🌬 minds off for sure ❗
Here is Samantha's journey 👣. The number one #transformation goes to me, myself & i🔥🙌🏾🎉 Left- TWO YEARS ago today
Right- TWO WEEKS ago taking bathroom selfies while getting ready for a family party
If anyone would have told me I would have been able to make the changes I have and look the way I do 2 years ago today I would have said “you have got to be kidding me”
2 years ago today exactly I actually ended a toxic relationship. The aftermath resulted in me going to Nuit Blanche with my gf @shanekar DETERMINED to end horrible cycles and BECOME the absolute best I can possibly be. Back then I was “faking it till I make it” but now I’m not faking anything. I’m here being real and raw, up, close and personal. Life is nowhere near perfect but I’m living it. I can’t even FATHOM what it is now. I don’t care how clichè it may sound but, I love my life. There’s no one in this world who can define me 💕

Wadi Rum Ultra 🌵🐫🔥...I can’t believe it’s nearly been a week since we finished running 250km across the desert!
I’m so proud of every single one of us that battled on for 5 days in a row, through extreme heat, deep sand that sucked all of the energy from our legs, dehydration, injury, blisters etc. - half of the @team.likeagirl runners hadn’t run further than a marathon before last Monday 😵! The race consisted of 4 back-to-back ultra distance days (45km, 55km, 70km, 50km) followed by a final 30km (which ended up being 37km!) We wanted to show you that ordinary girls are capable of extraordinary things. You just need to step out of your comfort zone💥!
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” - T.S.Eliot.
We’ve all been struggling this week...it’s hard to come back to reality after such an incredible and tough experience. Regular London life just doesn’t compare... I’ve started writing my race blog so if you have any specific questions then let me know and I’ll try to answer them!
Next week I’ll do some day-by-day insta stories to run through how the race went and show you what it was like out there 🔥🏃🏼♀️🐫🌵Be warned though...it may make you want to sign up for next year 😉...
100 year old barns amaze me. .
I went to Chapin, Illinois to visit this barn last weekend and spend time with family. .
The barn was built by my family 100 years ago - the land is still farmed by family members and will hopefully be that way for 100 more years. .
The barn structure was built with no metal bolts or screws - wood beams attached by mortise and peg in the classic technique. It stands proudly on a hill, having sheltered many hundreds of animals along with thousands of bales of hay and straw. .
Are you building yourself for 100 years? Are you stacking knowledge up like the hay loft of this barn? Are you standing steadfast in your commitment to excellence in all things like these massive barn timbers? Are you sheltering those that need it, like the barn has done all its years? .
Build yourself to last. Most people will focus on the short term and you’ll be standing long after they have faded away . . . .
I’ve been thinking of posting about how we try to be a low-waste/low-impact family for awhile; having just received this gorgeous cutting board from @small_axe_woodshop I thought this was the perfect time! This cutting board is what it’s all about, it’s carefully crafted to last a lifetime by a small, family-owned business that is dedicated to sustainable practices. No more plastic boards that get moldy and gross and get trashed after a year or two. This represents one of the most important aspects of being low-waste: be willing to pay a little extra upfront for high quality products that will last a long time; make those purchases from sustainable businesses.
By no means are we perfect, not even close, but here are some things we do to reduce our footprint that you could probably do too! (In no order):
1. Compost- with bokashi and worm towers, even tiny homes can compost. Many cities offer free compost classes and bins!
2. The 4 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle AND Repair. We’ve heard it for years but are you doing all you can in these areas?
3. Buy from the bulk bins, bring your own reusable containers. Some things we get in bulk: any grains/beans/dry goods, olive oil, peanut butter, shower gel (in pic, from local @bonnydoonfarm 💓), dish soap, etc. We bring our mason jars or reusable plastic containers to the store with us. So easy!
4. Replace single use plastics and paper products with reusables. We use our @kleankanteen straws, reusable shopping bags, coffee cup, stainless steel water bottles, produce bags (white bag in pic, make your own with scrap fabric), and small waterproof bags (ziplock bag replacement in pic, available on Etsy) just about every day.
5. Buy things that will last. From cutting boards to wood toys for your kids. Before you buy, think about what you’ll do with it when you’re done with it (trash/recycle/pass on to someone else...)
6. Buy from green/sustainable businesses.
7. Grow your own food, make your own preserves and products.
Continued in comments! Let me hear your tips and tricks too!
