Our data centre for Global Switch has been featured on Architizer, an online international architecture journal. The architectural form of this high-tech building is sleek and elegant. The facades are clad in thin horizontal metal louvres with vertical spines, accentuating the structure of the building. The distinct colour echoes the vast quantity of copper cables used to circulate the electricity throughout the building.

Baljurk Den Haag Architecture #baljurk #denhaag #buildingskin #steel #gold #holland Architect: Eric Vreedenburgh – Archipelontwerpers
2010 Portfolio Book: Cover/ mush-ROOMS Income Generators.

This is my Architecture Thesis project at the M.Arch I program at Cornell University, AAP. Thesis Advisers: Prof. Milton Curry and Prof. Henry Richardson.
Project Awards: Certificate of Recognition & Merit - Finalist, Spark: Concept (2011); Shortlisted project in the top 15 submissions, The 2011 Graduate Architecture Award (2011); Cornell Award for Merit and Distinction in the Master of Architecture Design Studio (2010); Cornell Eschweiler Prize (2010). This proposal was designed through 2 research trips in Brazil, which I was honored to receive by Cornell : Summer Research Travel Grant (2009); and Robert Eidlitz Fellowship Traveling Award (2008). Here is my thesis blurb from 2010. Still true today 8 years later ?
The contemporary role of the architect in Rio de Janeiro's favelas is to initiate operations, providing income generation, social and economic integration. Pinpointed interventions propose scenarios and introduce a setting for a new hospitality program to be inter-weaved in the favela fabric. A prototypical building system is designed, incorporating traditional and innovative construction methods, which enables an open process of stimulated self-transformation. Its embedded flexibility guarantees spatio-programmatic reconfiguration. Thus the building structure responds to the shifts of various forces - market, life conditions, and seasonal reoccurring events. Thus the architecture in Rio will be no longer used for speculative visual 'integration' of the favelas. It will rather become a neutral cultural and economic exchange island in this global city, where the phenomenon of formal and informal urbanizations will be recognized as equally impactful.

2010 Portfolio Book: mush-ROOMS Income Generators. Our data centre expansion project for Global Switch recently featured on Arch Daily. The building is designed in a sober, monolithic style in order that the volumes integrate harmoniously with the urban landscape. The site is next to the new Parc des Impressionnistes so particular attention was paid to the façade.

Creativity is about seeing things differently. What about tilting ordinary bricks, rotating them and cutting a piece out of it. What a difference in perception this makes! Stunning. These are still bricks but acting as design superstars don’t they.
