David and Jasmine’s Life Group Story. “We moved to the area and were looking for a place to call home. We went to a Young Adult Couples LifeGroup and immediately felt like part of the community. When we started going to church and LifeGroups regularly, we saw God open up so many opportunities in our life. Every week we look forward to attending church, serving on team, and leading our Life Group. CapCity is like a second family.”

I love this story. Ashley grew up in Georgia but followed family around because dad was in the Air Force. As a young adult, she came to DC on her own trying to find her purpose and her calling in life. What do you do when the dream job isn’t fulfilling the dream? “There has to be more to life than this,” she thought. But then she found herself at CapCity. She connected to community and discovered her purpose! She started using her God-given gifts and talents to make a difference in the lives of others. She took a step of faith, stepped out of her comfort zone, and started singing on stage as part of our volunteer team. “I’m so glad I said yes to God. I didn’t know I had it in me.”
We are so proud of you, Ashley. The best is yet to come and we are with you every step of the way! Let’s go!!!
D.C. reflects America’s history in multiple ways, including as a magnet for those seeking opportunity. Kira moved here 3 years ago and loves D.C. but feels conflicted, "I’m from Florida and live in NE. I know I'm part of the [gentrification] problem so I try to support community organizations as much as I can.”
“I grew up in Kenya. My mom took us to church, but dad rarely came. We moved to DC a few years ago, and it is at CapCity where I fully understood the difference between attending church and building the church. I find great honor in being part of the life change God wants to see in people’s lives. My wife and I were recently married when we found CapCity, and we’ve raised our kids at this church. My prayer is that my kids become difference makers in the world and also God seekers in their daily lives.” This is Home. Love this, brotha! You are setting an awesome example for your kids of what it looks like to serve in the house of God! No doubt your kids will be world changers! Let’s go!!!
