Ego is the little voice between our ears that chirps up any time we receive feedback that is less than a glowing review.
When someone is offended, upset, angry it is because their idea or perception of themselves whether it be character, behaviour, or deep seeded values and beliefs, their image of themselves does not match that which is described.
I am a big believer that the nicest person on earth is also capable of being the meanest, all depending on the circumstance, situation, day, mood and hours of sleep, etc. There is no single human being that is perfect and even less so a human being that is perfect 24/7.
Interpretation is also a huge factor, a kind act or phrase may be sweet to one person and be rude and demeaning to another. Learning to read between the lines and listening to what is truly voiced in moments of critisim can help you to remove yourself from the equation and see the criticism as simply feedback or an honest review.
Learning to embrace your mistakes is an important part of life and your success.
Mistakes may sting when they happen, but once the sting fades we are left with a valuable lesson that usually helps us move forward in life.
Our mistakes can also help us to learn self-compassion and compassion for others by realizing we too are human. I also truly believe that mistakes make us more fearless and help to build self-confidence as you learn that you can rely on yourself and that even when things go wrong, they can also just as easily be made right. Mistakes certainly provide you with a good reset and chance to start over at the very least!
Mistakes can also help move us from an improvement mindset to an expansion mindset. Many of us seek perfection which unfortunately is never attained; self-improvements indicate you are working towards perfection. Mistakes often make us realize that we must work on expanding our lives to be successful not attempting to make it perfect.
Next time you make a mistake just remember that there is no manual in life, the whole thing is just trial and error. Every mistake you make you are one step closer to solving the puzzle of life!

Transformation: what does that mean to you? Do you associate it with physical transformation or is it something deeper? •
I never really thought about the concept of transformation much before I started this journey. I always just said I want to be skinnier, I want my clothes to fit better, I don’t want to be tired all the time. In fact, I never actually looked at it in terms of transforming myself. I didn’t really understand that in order to look better I had to feel better...that was a novel concept to me! •
In order to really be happy in our own skin, we have to change the way we look at ourselves. When we look in the mirror, we need to really love who we are inside in order to appreciate what we are outside. That involves transforming our mind. •
Seems strange to think that in order to transform our body, we must change our mindset, right?! Shouldn’t we just lift weights and call it a day? That’s what I thought for the longest time. Here’s the problem with that...what if you do t like workout out? We have to change the way we think about things before we truly start to transform. •
I shared this with my private group today (a concept I learned from Brooke Castillo)...our thoughts control our feelings, our feelings control our actions, our actions create our results! Ponder that and choose the feelings you want to change so you can create the results you desire! •
Are you ready to transform??? •

My dream has always been to be a Stay At Home Mom but also help my husband provide financially. I have finally found a way to make my dreams come true and I am already half way there, and this is only the beginning!!!! •
Today I get to stay at home with my babes, run errands, do laundry make a meal for my family to enjoy when hubby gets home... And I did all of this while making an income! I don’t have to sit and hate my life in an office today. I don’t have to miss my babies or think about all of the things that are going to take MORE time away from my family when I get home tonight. Not me, not today. ❤️There is more to life than work and bills, my friends. Whatever makes your soul happy -do that.❤️ #momboss#wifemombasass#supportsmallbusiness#buildingabettertomorrow#makeyourselfhappy#buildinganempire#workhardanywhere

| | Even if you think it is “annoying” we are just trying to build our dream life. We are trying to make a better life for ourselves, our kids, our futures. How can you hate on someone who is hustling their ass off to have better? To buy Christmas for their kids? To buy their first home? Be able to pay the electric bill on time or buy a box of diapers? To finally feel like they are in control? | | •
We all want the same thing, happiness and fulfillment. | | A little support goes a long way. ❤️❤️❤️ And when you are ready, I’m here to help you hustle your ass off too! 😘

So I may be driving you crazy with my Maui posts, but let me tell you why? We experienced something we never thought was possible when going on vacation. Typically we go somewhere away from home, but truly never get the feel of what “vacation” really means (not to sound rude, but it’s hardly that with kids🤭). James and I experienced total tranquility, peace of mind, unity and a connection to that island. We called it our “Maui routine” no hurrying, stress, running around, bickering or contouring ourselves around someone else’s schedule. It was at our pace and our place ....til next time 🤙🏼🌺 #maui#hawaii#vacation#beach#chill#relax#gymtime#reading#horsebackriding#snorkling#walks#shopping#inadream#marriage#buildingabettertomorrow#family
I am SO proud to be a part of this project!

Noble Schools, Chicago is a community of 18 charter schools (17 High Schools and 1 Middle School) founded in 1999 on a mission to be “a catalyst for educational equity in Chicago that empowers students with the scholarship, discipline, and honor necessary to succeed in college and lead exemplary lives.”
The inaugural CrossFit Educator’s Course was held at Noble in 2017, providing the opportunity for 30 teachers within the network to access the tools and training to support the Noble Mission by empowering students to take ownership of their personal wellness.
First school to Affiliate: Noble Street College Prep in 2013 (Noble Street CrossFit) Number of K-12 Affiliates: 3
Number of CrossFit Level 1 Certificate holders on staff: 15
Average class size/time: 20-50 students, 52 minutes of instruction.
Curriculum: While each campus has autonomy in choosing the method of instruction, an understanding of functional movement and how it applies to everyday movement is a crucial component of the curriculum.
Grading criteria: Effort, growth, mastery, and content knowledge
“One thing that sets the school apart from other high schools is that it prioritizes the students' physical health as much as their academics...In the three years that I have been in CBCP, I have always been one of the quieter students, and I can honestly say that CrossFit has brought me out of my shell. It has helped me gain confidence. It has helped me be more sociable, and it has definitely changed my life for the better.” - J.L, Chicago Bulls College Prep Graduate

We often envision life playing out a certain way. We find ourselves planning out every detail of our future, and then find ourselves discouraged or disappointed perhaps even depressed when this vision does not realize itself or worse, takes a complete 360 degree turn. Life is often what happens to us when we are busy planning other things.
I know I personally hoped to be a pro UFC fighter by 24, to be well established and climbing in my professional career by 26, to be married by 28, and to start a family by 30-32. I achieved a lot of incredible things from 18-26, some things I would have never thought possible.
However, now at 26 the vision in my head did not play out how I hoped. I got ill and had to step away from fighting, I decided my career choice was not the right one and I start my business which is just now starting up, and I am a single lady making marriage and kids no where to be seen in my near future.
Life is but a journey littered with many twists and turns, bumps and holes, but that is what keeps life interesting. The uncertainty is what makes life so beautiful and precious, and all things come in time, especially when you stop forcing it.
Hi! It's me!
🐴 A little bit country
🌿 A little bit crunchy
This will be my self development journey. I'm sharing this journey because I have so many thoughts and insights swirling around in my head that I need a place to share it all!
Part of my journey recently has been joining in on the last 90 days challenge. If you haven't read Girl, wash your face by Rachell Hollis, I totally recommend that you do! It's about destroying the lies that we tell ourselves. Rachel and her husband Dave are hosting a free challenge for the last 90 days of 2018. It's all about ending your year strong and it has inspired me to make some healthy changes. Change is not easy, but what if I just don't break this promise to myself?
What self development book have you read recently?
Boundaries exist for a reason and respecting these boundaries is how we teach others around us how we want to be treated.
Not everyone you meet will be deserving of your attention and affection, not everyone will appreciate your kindness and love. And above all it is never easy.
Relationships have been identified as one of the main aspects that affect an individual’s happiness.
People who have deep and strong connections with friends and family tend to live longer, be happier and more fulfilled. Consequently, bad relationships can also impact a person’s happiness, longevity and fulfillment in a negative matter.
Your circles may change many times over the years, people you would have once done anything for will become acquaintances, lovers may become strangers, and a stranger may become one of your closes confidents.
Choose the people you surround yourself with wisely, and ensure they are uplifting, empowering, positive and inspire growth.
Life is too short, so learn to cut ties with negative and toxic people, not because you don’t love them, but because you love yourself.
Setting standards shows others you respect yourself and won’t tolerate non-sense.
My thoughts recently have been around the significance of the relationship between a mother and her child. Specifically, how this relationship is the foundation for all human development. I can see, hear and feel the cracks within this foundation every day. As a man, my thoughts drift to a man’s role in all of this. Financial support for our families is important but not enough, certainly not at the detriment or sacrifice of emotional and physical support. Too many men are half or completely checked out. In our low-income communities, too often that literally means fathers are not present. Mother and child are left with the impossible task of figuring it all out on their own. In our higher income communities, too often men work long hours to make more money yet hide mentally and or emotionally via distractions like TV, sports, video games, consumerism, drugs and alcohol, you name it. Somewhere in our development men lost connection, deep emotional connection – I did. I believe much of this struggle rests in our inability to be open, vulnerable and supportive to one another – to be of service. Fortunately, great men are needed today more than ever and strong organizations exist that support men who want to lower their shields, take off their masks and dig deep into things like: authenticity, integrity, mission, wounds, sexuality and emotional intelligence. I’m part of one such organization and we are leading a retreat in the D.C. area Nov. 30th – Dec. 2nd. Direct message me if you are interested in learning more. “The secret of change is not to focus all of your energy on fighting the old, but rather on building the new”. - Socrates #mankindproject#buildingabettertomorrow#cupofmindfuljoe
