The Austin-Healey Sprite with its trademark perpetual smiling face was produced in the United Kingdom from 1958 to 1971. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed.” The original cost was $1,795 with a 43 hp engine and a top speed of 85mph. It was nicknamed “Bugeye” in the States and “Frogeye” in the U.K. This Bugeye resides on the main street of Strong City, Ks. bringing smiles to those that drive by.
I am doing some floor repair on my 1959 Bugeye Sprite. Found a tiddy sum of vintage coins under the frame stiffener. 1946 through 1959! That will defray the costs! Lol
