I have decided to do an experiment, I need to change the colour of my worktops but as usual, I need to do it on a budget. I have been researching how to do this and this DC Fix film (a type of sticky backed plastic) keeps coming up, so I thought I might try it out on a section of worktop, it's completely removable so if it all goes terribly wrong I can just take it off. I have used the gloss black but will prob go for the Matt black when if do it properly.
There's a bit of a knack to getting this stuff on but it actually looks great and if I were to keep it on I would seel along the back with caulk to add a bit of protection in the joins. I needed to use a warm hairdryer to make it easier to get it to stay on the rolled edges, but it seems to have gone pretty well so far, let's see how it holds up over the next week!
My gorgeous new chair from @aldiuk arrived today.. I’ve been looking at this chair for ages on their website firstly when it was £130, then it went down to £99, then £89 and then it went down to £49 and I just had to get it!
What do we think of it in the dining area? 🤷🏼♀️..
✨Dining chairs - @therangeuk - £69.99 for 2..
✨Clock - @poundstretcher - £12.99..
✨Rug - @aldiuk - £14.99..
✨Twig Tree - @bm_stores - £30..
✨Tartan Blanket - @poundstretcher - £4.99..
Had these two old wooden boxes, they had previously been painted black and sanding them back to wood would have taken an age. So to get them looking like wood again I sprayed them gold and streaked teak stain over the gold, which gives a nice rich wood colour/effect.
I found some green velvet curtains in the reduced bin in Dunelm, and added a block of foam to the top and upholstered using fabric from the curtains. I'm going to add some small ball feet to the base of the box to raise off the floor a bit. I think they will serve well as footstools/storage box's for the living room. I need more practice with the upholstering pins and getting them straighter, but I like how it's turned out so far!
From crazy bright colours when I moved in, to scandy greys. Slate rustoleum cupboard paint used in the cupboard doors which covered the colours really well in 2 coats. The wood utility room door will be painted in to match the wall, and double doors are being painted gold, so they go with the living room and this room.
A few decs up already but not getting the rest up until the 1st Dec, can't wait as I'm having 2 trees this year!
Added a little Christmas flare to my muslin rag wreath I made. Maybe I’m onto something? I can use it year round and just add different seasonal touches. This was an easy project, but VERY time consuming!
Today I discovered how amazing IKEA’s as-is section can be. I found these plates for $1 each ( I grabbed 5 of each size) and this curtain for $10 that I plan to make a quick table cloth out of for tomorrow’s dinner.
The as-is section is going to be first stop from now on!
If you’re traveling tonight or tomorrow for Thanksgiving, safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving eve!
