Revenge, 2018 • 9/10
With near-unbearable scenes of sexual violence, butchery, and pools worth of blood, 'Revenge' makes for one hell of an uneasy, intense, and "bloody" riveting game of cat-and-mouse from first-time feature director and screenwriter Coralie Fargeat.
Fear not, it's not your typical case of senselessly glorified torture porn, but rather a beautifully crafted "revenge" thriller with an interesting and timely -- yet never less than viscerally thrilling -- feminist spin.
Although the plot is pretty simple, predictable and somewhat unbelievable at times, Fargeat has an uncommonly sharp command of her craft, knowing what elements to double down on and when it's best to show restraint. This allows Revenge to unfold with a natural sense of pacing and direction while still achieving a high level of thrills, intensity and satisfaction.
On top of that, the cinematography is as stunning as the beautiful desert landscape, the colour palette is impeccable, using creams, whites, yellows and oranges to perfection against the thick red of blood! The sound editing is to die for and the score is electrifying. Then there's the fact that it isn't just typically shot, the camera work is something to admire in itself; first-person views, spiralling effects, low-angle shots, images with a Lynchian sense of dislocation and trippiness, the list goes on.
The whole cast are respectively commendable, but it's Matilda Lutz who hits it clean out the park with a truly bonechilling performance which seemed as if it were powered by a supernatural entity.
If you have a strong enough stomach, I highly recommend you stick this on your watchlist, if not, steer clear, or be prepared with noise cancelling ear plugs and an eye mask. You've been warned!
So it’s Tristan’s year to spend the holidays with his dad this year. The older he gets, the more I feel he understands having to share his time with mommy and daddy. But this morning on the way to school he said “Mommy, I don’t want to spend “Chrismath” with Daddy because he has other kids and you have nothing.” 😳 I didn’t know if I should have been saying “Awww that’s sweet” or crying at his brutal honesty 😂😂 #boymom#brutalaf#coparenting#realitycheck
Finally got around to watching #Terrifier and Jesus Christ @davidhowardthornton who played art the clown came through with the BEST HORROR PREFORMANCE OF 2017 (I think that's the year it was released) #Horror#Netflix#BrutalAF#ArtTheClown

Hell of a hill marathon was a tough un, but good un! Definitely deserves the name, them hills were brutal 🙈
Proud to be keeping Wonka company on his first marathon in five days, don't envy the rest of the week he's got ahead!
Also thanks @stansfieldsportsinjuryclinic and crew, my legs feel surprisingly ok! 🎉
Brutal. 💀 That’s about all I’ve got to say about October 2018. I’d like it to fuck right off now. 😒
As for The Punisher TV series on Netflix, I know I’m very late in saying this, but wow - so well made. Brilliantly written and directed, the whole cast were incredible, and the characters and story really drew me in.
Speaking of brutal, I can’t believe this show wasn’t rated R 18+ here in Australia. At times it’s downright nasty. 😳😲
I see Netflix has committed to another season and I’m very happy about that. Punisher is now my second-favourite Marvel TV series, after Daredevil. But I’ve been a fan of Frank Castle much longer than Matt Murdock, so I’d like to see more and more of him, if Netflix will stick with it.
Сильнее всего я переживал за этот пункт в списке заданных цветов. Откуда у меня возьмётся не только pink, но ещё и baby pink? И кто вообще называет цвета таким образом? И если есть baby pink, значит может быть и old man pink? ⠀
