🚨Rotator cuff rehab continuation‼️ Controlled Articular Rotations! Or CARs🚘🚖 are fantastic exercises for teaching the rotator cuff to centrate the shoulder through it’s ranges of motion.
The weight 🥌in my hand is not for resistance, but rather to force me to grip, which helps the shoulder “learn” how to move properly. This can be substituted for any hand sized object, as long as it’s crushed in an iron grip🤜🏼.
You’ll notice I’m performing internal⤵️and external⤴️ rotations with my upper arm in a vertical, and a horizontal position. 👉🏼This teaches proper control in different positions which is important for any athlete. There are a couple variations of these but this is just to show the principle.
❗️SLOW🐌is the name of the game. This emphasizes control and position of the joint.
❗️The peak🗻of the deltoid and elbow shouldn’t change height through the rotations.
❗️Activate that hand with a solid grip👊🏻
❗️Work the entire pain free range of motion🔄.
Reap the rewards and enjoy the new chicken wing🐓!
Pin Possibilities day 4:
Even though August is halfway done (😣) there's still lots of time to take a beach day, and make sure your beach bag has a cute button on it! (P.s reporting live from Thunder Bay!!)
“Oh Silver Lake how graceful, your tall birch trees bending, the wind through their branches is music to me...” This is the opening line to the song sung at Silver Lake Mennonite Camp. I was out doing some #nightskyphotography on Silver Lake road last weekend and set up in a spot looking back to the camp dock (located right in between those two bursts of light). I spent many a summer on this lake, learning to appreciate the natural beauty all around me and detach from everyday life.
Do you have a place like this you can go to - to relax, decompress, unplug...? Wherever your place is, I hope you find it this summer!
