THOU - Magus: Their 5th full length recently released by Sacred Bones, Vinyl Me Please webstore exclusive variant on translucent sepia/rust (you don't need to be a subscriber to get this). Absolutely MONSTROUS!! A very fitting way for THOU to cap off a banner year, you can hear some elements from all three of their recent experimental EPs in this. Noisy, abrasive, and crushing sludge/drone/doom perfection, easily one of this year's best! If you're into this kind of stuff and they play near you JUST GO, their live performance is devastating!
Coastlands - To Be Found: Their 2nd full length self-released in 2016 pressed on a dark brownish mix. Beautiful atmospheric post-rock record, one of my favorite instrumental releases of 2016! Thanks for the hookup on this one @crigbididman. Stoked for their new one that's releasing soon too!
We Lost The Sea - Crimea: Their debut LP originally originally self-released in 2010, this is the 2017 reissue from Translation Loss Records pressed on translucent beer w/black splatter. Such an amazing debut from this incredible post-rock/metal band! Slow builds with explosive crescendos and monstrous vocals throughout. If you haven't checked 'em out before definitely give this a whirl if you dig bands like Isis, Cult Of Luna, Rosetta, or Bossk.
Kenoma - The Tides Will Prevail: Their debut full length released in 2017 by Translation Loss Records, 2xLP pressed on swamp/mint green merge w/brown & gold splatter. This towering sludgy behemoth was one of my favorite instrumental post-metal releases of last year! Phenomenal album, crushing riffs and beautiful atmospherics. Great artwork, plus this pressing is gorgeous! Highly recommended to fans of Pelican, Russian Circles, or If These Trees Could Talk.
