Knit truth time: this is all I have knit since I finished my brioche shawl. When I finished the knitting, I immediately jumped into working on the charts for the pattern, which I kind of became obsessed with, and I didn't care about not knitting. Honestly, I needed a break. But I've slowed down (a lot) on that and I just want to knit. I feel so stuck though! I have a bunch of ideas - and I started this swatch for a possible Rhinebeck sweater/poncho idea, but I'm tired and stressed from the world and I don't want to have to think really hard but I want a sweater for Rhinebeck. I feel like I have to keep creating and designing and to go back to following a pattern is somehow going backwards. Silly, I know. The brain is a funny thing. So because I can't figure things out, I'm paralyzed. Anyway, I felt like I had to talk about why I don't have any knitting to show lately and sort of confess my knitting craziness lately. Thanks for listening. Ugh. 🙄🤷🏼♀️😢
The obsession is real! Knitting (and designing) Susurrate was such an immensely joyful and dare I say, easy, experience. It felt like I was a vessel for the design and it just all came tumbling out of me. Writing the pattern, on the other hand, feels really, really hard. Not bad hard, just hard. My brain hasn't worked like this in a long time. Hats off to all the designers who do this all the time! I'm in awe of you! Thank you for all your hard work! ❤️

I know I should have waited to show this to you when I could take the fabulous pictures I have styled in my mind, but this shawl has been sitting on the floor, blocking, for the last three days and I couldn't stand not to share it any longer. 🍃
I am diligently working on the charts and the pattern and it's going well. I have no timeline for when it will be released (I've never done this before) but it will be released. 🍃
Susurrate: a half pi shawl in two color brioche!
You guys! I FINISHED IT! The border just about killed me - I can't tell you how many times I had to rip and reknit. And I ran out of yarn again - TWICE. There are actually three different colors of the "white" yarn. I haven't gone to bed before 1AM for the past two weeks knitting my little heart out! Those almost 500 stitch brioche rows are LONG, yo! But I did it. I finished my first design. To be honest, I'm a little bit in shock and a lot of bit emotional. Next steps are to REALLY block this thing and then start it all over again. @bluemoonfiberarts and I are going to figure out the REAL yarn for this project and I'm going to turn it into something you can all knit too. I have so much more to say, but I'll wait until I show you the whole thing. Thank you so much for your support along the way. It means EVERYTHING! ❤️
Everything in the world sucks right now but one thing that maybe doesn't suck is the border on my shawl design. It took me at least 100 times (okay, more like 6 or 7 or maybe even 8) to get those 489 stitches right and now that it is exactly how I want it, I'm going to run out of yarn. Again. This time the blue. (You may not have realized it, but I ran out of the white a while ago and switched it up with a tinted white. Haha!) A cursory Google/Ravelry search landed me zero yarn in this color, so I'm going to use something sort of similar in my stash because I need to finish this template ASAP. At the same time I never want it to end because the experience of creating this shawl has, no lie, been one of the most satisfying and enjoyable experiences of my life. I'm pretty sure that as soon as I finish this one, I will start to knit another one. This time in the "correct" colors. 😜😘❤️
Guys! I finished the body of my brioche shawl design!!! I did the increase for the border (I'm at 489 stitches 😲) and then put it on a lifeline so I could stretch it out to see if it all works. I wanted those individual nestled leaves to look like they have fallen from the tree above. And the buds and vine pattern to look like it's growing up from the ground towards the tree. I'm incredibly happy with how it's going. If the pattern I'm planning on using for the border works, I will be ecstatic. Also, @nancymarchantbrioche is a genius and I love her madly. THANK YOU NANCY! And THANK YOU ALL for your encouragement. This project is giving me life. #knittingisthesavingoflife
I spent most of this week figuring out the next section of my shawl design. Which meant basically doodling in two color brioche! I made a big swatch to figure it all out. After trying (and failing) a bunch of times, I think I was able to configure the shape I was looking for and that will be organic to the shawl. I already know what I want for the border, and I only have around 25 rows left to play with (they go so fast!) in this section, so hopefully the rest will be fast!
The other day, when I was showing @vicki.knitorious my shawl in progress, I realized that I had forgotten to do not one, but two brpLsl decreases on the very center leaf motif. Fully knowing I would rip it all out in a second if it didn't work, I decided to try to fix it without ripping back all those rows. It worked. And if nothing else comes of this shawl, if I don't finish it to my liking, if I don't write up the pattern, I will always know that I fixed that brioche shit LIKE A BOSS. #nextlevelknitting#knittinglevelup#knittingUNLOCKED
I know it's all new shawl all the time right now (I really should name the damn thing, but I'm superstitious), but I can't help myself. I'm totally OBSESSED - in the BEST way! I have to remember to eat and sleep - oh yeah and not forget about those pesky kids! 😜 Anyway, I had to rip back again. Every time I take it off the needles, I take the opportunity to lay it out and stretch it a bit to see if I still love it and feel like things are going in the right direction. I do. 🤩👍🏻 Thank you for indulging me and having confidence in me! I really, REALLY appreciate it! YAY!!!!
Figuring shit out. About to rip out about six rows, but that's ok. I just wish the knitting didn't take so long. And I'm about to run out of the white yarn, so I'm going to sub in something close. And I grabbed yarn thinking it was STR Lightweight, but it's really Mediumweight, lol. I totally would have gone up a needle size. Seems like this is truly a template - what do they call it in sewing? A muslin? This is my muslin. At least one more to go. Guess I know what my summer knitting looks like. And my Rhinebeck sweater, which is now a shawl. 🤣😂 But seriously, thank you all so much for your comments and support! I am having a blast and MAN is my brain getting a workout! ❤️👍🏻 THANK YOU!
