Soda is one of THE WORST things that you can be putting in your body...
We already know this. Even if you drink it frequently, you know that it's not doing you any favors. 
I just saw this suggestion for how to kick your pop habit... 🥤
Measure 10 ounces of water
Measure 10 teaspoons of granulated sugar
Mix
Drink. 🤮🤮🤢🤢

That's what you're putting in your body every time you drink a pop. 
Think about that glass every single time you want to reach for that pop.
And the idea that calorie free sweeteners is saving you those calories is total junk-- sugar that is manufactured chemically is EVEN WORSE for you than regular sugar! 🙀

Last night on a coaching call, I asked my client WHO WOULD SHE BE as the woman who’s bringing the extra income in that she desires RIGHT NOW. “I’d be less stressed.  Capable. Strong.  Independent.” I asked where she felt that in her body... it was a tingle in her legs that signaled strength.  Not surprising for the lifelong dancer she’s been.  I told her her job is to tap into that feeling NOW like the abundance is ALREADY here.  See it. Feel it. KNOW it’s already here.  And then take all the massive action steps you can think of to bring the vision into fruition. Resistance will 100% come up.  It already had.  She was pulled more towards doing work for FREE last week, than she was at creating more money.  This makes sense. Her brain has been trained for years to do so. Paper towel was always a kitchen essential in my family home and eventually in my own home. Yet, I knew it was a wasteful habit that I needed to stop. Recently I removed the paper towel roll from my kitchen and I've seen my use drop significantly!!!! I now use cloths for cleaning and cloth napkins for eating. It's interesting how making something slightly inconvenient, like storing paper towel out of the kitchen, can change your behaviour.

I hope we have a mini bus of people going all over in 2019 ( I won't drive) 😂 my point is that if your not happy or feel stuck your not living how you want and the only person that can change that is YOU.

Usually it's because that detour doesn't seem like a big deal... well guess what, IT IS. You need to ask yourself this daily. If where you are at in the present moment is not supporting where you are going, get out, and get out fast. If it isn't supporting growth in the direction of your goals, it isn't good for you. Exercise used to be such a chore, I’d do it because it was good for me but I didn’t necessarily enjoy it... that was until I discovered weight training 💪🏽. I now LOVE training and actually look forward to it (I know! Crazy huh?!). .
Going to the gym is now part of my routine and I no longer need to motivate myself to go, I actually WANT to go 😍🤸🏽‍♂️

Found this guy in the engine of our work truck. Luckily we found him in one piece, and I reluctantly decided to take him in. So glad I did, because he is a wonderful addition to our family! Now he is living his best life, with my grandma feeding him more than me! My point is, you don't need to go far and pay alot for a wonderful pet, sometimes you just gotta keep your eyes, ears, and heart open, and let fate do the rest. 🐱⛟

Just got done running 4 miles. But I want to share a story from the other day. So by reading my last post it sounds like I just want to float around, have fun and do the things that I feel like doing. I explained this to my swim coach/mentor when I rocked up to the pool and didn’t want to practice swimming lol. I said I just want to surf and skate. In that moment he said it was ok. He said, “You’re young, you should be having fun.”. But then the next day he unexpectedly called me. He said he was thinking a lot about our conversation and he wanted to add something to it. So for a little bit of context I’ve been trying to figure out the next path I should take in this life. Pursue big goals or just float around having fun. Coach brought it back to what motivated him to pursue his goal of making it to the Olympics for the Filipino Swim Team. He said it was really tough and not the happiest lifestyle. But what kept him going is all the kids who looked up to him. He wanted to be a positive role model. He related it to what I have done here on social media. I have people of all ages watching me, following me and becoming influenced by my actions and what I portray. It is my RESPONSIBILITY to others to chase down all these goals I’ve claimed to want to accomplish. When it’s your RESPONSIBILITY to do something you do it at all costs. So I’ve been thinking to myself. If I show people that I, Gytis, a human being set a goal and then decide to flake out on it because I don’t feel like doing it. What kind of shit is that? I’m showing people that when you set goals and it gets hard, you give up. That’s bullshit. I want to show you that if you have a goal. Weather that’s weight loss, becoming an Ironman, or changing your diet, etc. Whatever it may be you charge after that goal and you don’t let up until you tick the box and you accomplish it. Life is long. These athletic goals I’ve set. To win my age group at Ironman 70.3 Honu and race Ironman World Championships wont take up all my life. I can still go surf and skate. I can still have fun. But when it’s time to train and it’s time to put in the work. We fucking do it. That’s the vibration I want to put out into the world.

Switching over from buying so much in plastic, to buying the majority in bulk, trying to eliminate as much plastic as I can. Not only has it reduced my weekly grocery shopping cost but it’s eco-friendly which is a much better choice for our planet 🌎

[Post 7 in the mindset series]: “The only limits you have are the limits you believe” - Wayne Dyer. When we are born, we only have two fears, (just two!)- likely traits that helped us identify threats and contributed to our survival. They are: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Everything other fear we have has been learned. We have taken them on because of our environment, culture and the unique experiences each of us has had. When we were very young kids at play, we didn’t have any fears or prejudices or odd beliefs on what we could or couldn’t do. That is until slowly our minds became filled with other snippets of information or filled with our own internal dialogue after a defining - but often negative-event. “Don’t talk to strangers because they might...” ..”Are you stupid or something...don’t do that again” or “How could you be so clumsy and ...”. Or even worse is when it’s our own voice telling ourselves what we ‘aren’t good at’ or ‘can’t do’ and what we are ‘never going to be’ after some embarrassing moment. When we sucked that one time playing some sport and our classmates laughed. When we forgot what we were going to say during a speech or when delivery a report at a work meeting. Suddenly we tell ourselves that “I can’t play” that sport...” or that “I’ll never be” a speaker or soccer player. These beliefs in what we can’t do and who we are not arise to protect us from our fears - fears we have learned - protecting us from getting embarrassed or looking stupid or feeling incompetent. It’s when we accept that making mistakes are part of the learning process and we stop caring what others think- then we wouldn’t limit ourselves with beliefs stemmed from our fears. “A master is only someone who has made more mistakes than his student, and has learned from them”. Remember, “If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse”. And in the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “Believe you can and you’re half way there”. For example, I will be giving up treats/sugary foods for the month but you can do anything from quitting drinking, not biting your nails, or just taking a break from TV. I'm not going to lie I'm a bit nervous because I eat pretty healthy as far as meals/drinks go but I have one hell of a sweet tooth 🍬🍫 I've never gone an entire month without treats. 🙄

[Post 6 in the mindset series]. “Where Your Focus Goes, Energy Flows”-this classic Tony Robbins quote really makes me focus on what my thinking is like & what sort of things I am telling myself. If my focus is on i) being kind to myself ii) giving myself positive affirmations ("I am able" "I am capable" "I can't do it ...YET but with practice”iii) belief that with time, practice & effort I can learn & do most things I put my mind to iv) making mistakes is a normal part of learning & improving v) feedback is useful, enables me to improve & succeed & vi) challenges enable me to get out of my comfort zone, grow & improve in all walks of life. By focusing on a positive mindset approach to life, I am using just as much energy (if not less) than focusing on my failures, the things I don't like about myself & my fears AND none of the positive outcomes (learning, experiences, skills, confidence) would have occurred had I been focusing on my negatives & insecurities. Our ATTITUDE is the inherent ideas, approaches & patterns our mind tends to think & feel towards someone or something. It evolves over years, has conscious, subconscious, rational & irrational aspects & develops from our environment: culture: experiences: values: thoughts:  beliefs (factual & opinionated) and our emotional beliefs & assumptions that we hold about that situation. Our mindset CAN shape & influences our attitude.Attitude is the strongest predictor of behaviour but it IS changeable! If we have a  negative attitude & avoid challenges in case we look silly and create negative beliefs about our own capabilities or self worth - this attitude will likely disempower us & limit opportunities & possibilities in our lives. “When you focus on problems, you’ll have more problems. ❌ Restrict all foods, rely on salads. ❌ Eats low calories food during the week then binge all weekend. ❌ Low energy, end up losing muscle rather than body fat & forever checking the scales! (Numbers do not define who you are!) ❌ Quick fix’s, has a poor relationship with food, see food as the enemy, skip meals, cut out carbs ect.
❌ Exercise to lose weight rather than exercise for self love & for health. ❌ Give up when you “mess up” oh I start again Monday. -

✅ Has a balance, eats healthy 80% of the time with that 20% balance of our favourite treat. Your not going to go the rest of your life without your favourite treats, so don’t cut them out just have that balance. ✅ See food as fuel, eats to fuel your body for your daily activities. ✅ Exercise to feel good, energised, healthy, self love. ✅ Increase muscle & decrease body fat. Focus on how you feel rather than allow a scale tell you how to feel.

Try this tip the next time you're feeling like you want to eat something that's less than the best for you: Portion out the amount you think you should eat in a bowl or on a plate and put the container back in the cupboard (or fridge, or what have you). Doing this will not only give you a perspective on the amount you're eating, it will also make it inconvenient to keep eating the junk food.  You're less likely to overeat if you have to get up from your Netflix session to refill a bowl or plate.

A lot of times, we want things to be different in our lives but we are not really willing to put in the necessary effort to make lasting change.  We would rather look for someone to wave a magic wand and make things better, or take a quick pill that will fix everything.  The truth is, the only one who can create change in your life is you.  Of course, others can point you in the right direction and offer advice, but ultimately, it is up to you and your doing to make changes.

For some of us, the situation or feelings must get so dire and so unbearable that we finally realize we mustchange.  Others, at the first glimpse of trouble, immediately jump into action to improve things.  Which one are you?  Have you ever even thought about how you normally respond to negative aspects of your life?  Let's take a moment to do that. 
Look over the last year of your life.  Surely you will notice patterns in your behavior and reactions to things.  Do you think those patterns and reactions are ideal and in your best interest over all?  Maybe you see where you have just grown habitual and may need to work on making a conscious effort to improve your ability to respond.

Taking the time to look our emotional and mental selves over is a necessary part of growth.  Actually applying what you learn is the next step.  No one can do anything for you, your life is up to you.  We can definitely help each other, but the end result is in your hands.

For 21 days I have been consistent with my nutrition & exercise and I have currently lost 14 INCHES off my whole body which I’m super happy about!

Atomic Habits by @james_clear is a quick and accessible read. The book focuses on clear and basic concepts like take small steps each day to entrench habits and understanding that those little efforts each day add up over the long run.
