There is a REASON for this! When our bodies are deprived you not only feel hunger, you also start to think about food all the time. This is a survival mechanism. It is your brain’s way of telling you that you need nourishment and to go seek it out🍉🥪🍕. When are deprived of food we notice it more and think of it more. You don’t need to be fasting to experience this. If you are restricting yourself in any way, physically or psychologically, your body will respond in the same way. Anything that it views as a threat to receiving adequate nourishment will activate this survival mechanism aka obsessive food thoughts. .

Take note of this feeling today and understand it. Learn from it. Internalize that this reaction happens when we restrict, whether it is fasting all day or depriving ourselves of foods we enjoy🍽❤. It is not because you don’t have self control that you end up eating all the things. It is because your body is driving you to eat on all levels when you restrict. It is biology! .

How to make these obsessive food thoughts go away🤔? Intuitive eating! Allowing yourself to enjoy all foods and honoring your health from a place of self care. It’s one thing to feel this way on a fast day that you observe for religious reasons. It’s another when you live with this obsessive thinking every day. You shouldn’t have to! Stumbled upon @revaleebrunchcafe this morning while in Canada and was pleasantly entertained with a wide array of amazing cuisine! I ordered the Scandinavian brunch and Juliana ordered the Challah French toast... Both would give up my birthright for. .

😟 I am honestly saddened when I hear people (especially women) who complain about eating too much food in the weekends so they need to workout more during the week. You can’t do that without expecting to fail at some time. You can’t keep eating whatever you want on Saturday and Sunday and then return to boring salads on Monday and pretend the weekend meals didn’t even exist. 🥊 stop lying to yourself about working harder the next week. And don’t skip meals the next week just because you did ‘something bad’ on weekends. It doesn’t work that way. If you skip meals, you’re gonna put your body under a lot of stress and the next time you’ll eat, you’ll eat more because your body went in survival mode. 🐞 as with pizza, ice cream and so on, you don’t have to only enjoy it on Saturday and Sunday because you’ll make a habit out of it and you’ll wait for the weekends only to get your hands on meals like that. And it’s gonna be mentally exhausting for you. You’re gonna eat more just because you’re waiting for the last 2 days of the week to indulge
😜 now I don’t want to tell you that you should eat pizza or ice cream daily, but you have to make a healthy habit out of it. If you’re strong enough, OK, eat that foods on weekend, but if not, try listening to your body and give it what it needs. Well, our body always craves fatty foods or carbs if we don’t have a balanced lifestyle, but make sure you’re following a decent way of eating. And here’s another tip: STOP saying you’re going on a diet from Monday on. Instead, try eating less foods that are ruining your lifestyle ⭐️ #flavnutrition

The internet is an amazing place, you can spend your hard earned money on fancy flours and get them delivered to your door. 🤩 I used the typical ingredients that I’ve been using in my previous posts but I threw in a mushy banana in the batter😚🍌 also, really glad that I bought myself a  griddle and silicone molds. They make my cooking experience much more enjoyable. I’m sure most people know about the benefits of quinoa but if you don’t, it’s one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids. It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B-vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, & vitamin E! The flour form is relatively pricey, I got it at a discounted price on @thrivemkt (yay!) & I would ideally use a food processor to make my own quinoa flour but I still have to invest in one of those bad boys 😅

very simple egg muffins, for a fast breakfast!

ingredients to make 8-10:
four eggs
one tomato (chopped)
two tbsp of butter (not softened or melted)
cheese (i used shredded mozzarella)
dried mint leaves to top it off
vegetable oil spray (so the egg muffins don’t stick to the cupcake molds)
salt, pepper and chili flakes for a boost of flavor
optional: other vegetables such as onions, mushrooms, bell peppers.
protien such as: turkey or bacon.
healthy additions such as chia seeds.

recipe:
preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius or 392 degrees fahrenheit.
in a bowl, crack the four eggs and whisk them until the egg whites and the egg yolks combine.
then, add some your seasoning and chopped vegetables and other toppings, other than the cheese.
spray your cupcake tins with the vegetable oil spray, and start scooping the egg mixture and placing it in each of the sections, as equally as possible. TIP: to do that, i used an ice-cream scooper!
then top it off with the choose cheese, be generous and fill the top of it with cheese!
place in the oven for 3-5 min, and when you take it out, flip it on a cutting board, and they will slide right out!
place on the serving plate and top it off with the dried mint leaves for a boost of flavor, and if you prefer some extra cheese.

Cooked some pancakes this morning for my Boug and I. Delicious with strawberry spread & banana. 😋
Waking up to a yummy and delicious breakfast that was already prepared the night before!! ❤️☀️Apart from being so easy to make, overnight oats are also so versatile and fun to play around with. With so many different options for toppings as well as variations to the oat base, overnight oats are such a great breakfast option to prepare ahead of time for the entire week. Toppings can be different everyday and preparation is minimal - making it a great grab and go option that is also a delicious and super nutritious meal to power your day! These two overnight oat bowls have the same base, but completely different toppings! The bowl to the left has blueberries, pomegranate, and sliced pistachios while the bowl to the right has coconut slices, pumpkin seeds, strawberries, and chia seeds. 
The base of these oat bowls was made with gf rolled oats that were slightly massaged and broken down. This helps the oats absorb the milk better and gives it a pudding-like consistency. Coconut flakes, cinnamon powder, and flax meal were also added to the massaged gf rolled oats. After mixing the dry ingredients together, cashew milk was added until all the ingredients were slightly covered. Stir and mix so that the milk gets evenly distributed throughout the bowl. Store in refrigerator overnight. The next morning, take the oat bowl out of the fridge, and mix in a ripened mashed banana for some natural sweetness. Top with desired toppings and dig in!! ❤️👌

I’ve been back from my mini-holiday for a week now, but my brain hasn’t quite caught up and is still in vacation mode. I had so many plans for this past week and didn’t get nearly as much accomplished as I’d hoped.🙈

I’m determined to get back on track though, starting this morning with a good breakfast. I’m trying this Quaker overnight oats that I received for free from @Influenster and @QuakerCanada. I’m a firm believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I’m always up for trying something new!

You just add your favourite kind of milk to the container, pop it in the fridge overnight, and voila - breakfast! I tried the toasted coconut and almond kind this morning and it's really flavourful. I'm looking forward to trying the walnut, raisin, and honey kind next!

I don’t follow any specific intermittent fasting regimen BUT I just don’t find that I’m usually at all hungry in the morning.
