*real talk, long post*
So... I’m doin a thing tonight that I had NO idea I could do, but I’m flying during the free fall. If you’d have asked me if I could paint, let alone lead a painting class of 37 people 10 years ago, I’d have looked at you like you were crazy. Some people know my “why” behind this paint class tonight, but for those of you who don’t.. When I was 8 months pregnant, my husband had to have emergency open heart surgery. He had had over a dozen heart attacks, and four of his vessels were blocked. We had about 5 seconds to decide everything. The conversations we had before he went under are ones I’ll keep to myself, but they weren’t conversations you want to have a month before your baby is born. We had three kids with another one on the way... It was surreal. Everything in our lives changed that day. It was the most afraid I had ever been in my life. I can’t even speak on it without my throat getting tight. Matter of fact, I didn’t speak on it for almost 5 years. I couldn’t. But I’m telling my story, today. I learned two things during that time. That I can paint. And that I’m strong. Because he was strong. We have fought so damn hard to get to this day. And it’s been a journey. I have no idea what he experienced within himself, I just know what I experienced as his spouse, and what I witnessed. He looked the devil in the eyes and told him where to go. He was so brave. So for anyone affected by heart trauma, I understand the crazy beautiful steps you take under pressure. I champion you. I am so grateful that my husband is still here, to help me raise these boys, to guide the older kids, to be a son, a friend....and tonight is for him. For our family. We color our world, regardless of the darkness. And we keep dreaming. And I’m damn proud of that. #coloryourworld#conqueryourfears#braveheart#gottafreefalltofly#diaryofamaverick
7.9/10. Tough one to rate. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. Chris Pine was fantastic, to pull off a consistent Scottish accent can't be easy and he did it really well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What let me down slightly about his character was his authority. It wasn't quite clear to me why people followed him. And that was part of the reason I wasn't too happy about the first half of the film. It was disjointed. It was patchy. Relationships were thrown together. You really had no idea who characters were apart from the King and his son, who I thought was a pretty decent character. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The action sequences were great. It was definitely gruesome and that was necessary to portray the brutality of the times. Being a true story also helps things and tying in William Wallace was pretty cool. But this is no Brave Heart and far from it. It is a wannabe Brave Heart. It lacked solid characters and established relationships. | NETFLIX | #outlawking
How often have you expected someone else or something else to make you happy? All the time I'm sure. We’re doing it more than we realise, placing our happiness on someone else or something else. It gets us in a fuck lot of trouble and sets up some really unrealistic expectations and pressure on people and things.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wanna know a secret? Ready for a mic drop moment?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
YOU. ARE. RESPONSIBLE. FOR. YOUR. HAPPINESS.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s all an inside job but the best part? You get to decide if you want to be happy RIGHT. NOW.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Expecting someone else to do it for you is (putting it bluntly) SELFISH. I’m not even going to sugar coat it for ya’ll, it’s hard hitting truth time today ONLY.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure, when people do or say things that make us happy it’s fucking awesome but those moments in life are just ICING ON THE CAKE. We should love those moments because they’re unexpected, which means we value them and appreciate them *SO* much more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SO my beautifuls, if you’re unhappy RIGHT NOW it’s time to take charge and change it. Happiness is *YOUR* control and it’s time you started being responsible for it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What can you do *RIGHT NOW* to make yourself happy? For me it’s sitting down on this morning drinking a cup of coffee and writing this for you all. It makes me happy and I’m relishing in it because a) I get to connect with you and b) maybe after reading this you might be propelled forward to ROCK YOUR OWN HAPPINESS!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Isn’t life amazing when you realise YOU GET TO CALL THE SHOTS on your emotions? #HellYes
Richtig klasse.
“Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” ~William Wallace (Braveheart) When people look back on your life, will they see someone who followed the norm, blended into the mundane routine? Or will they see someone who stood out, let their colors be seen and lived life to the fullest?
