Me and Jonny are on vacation for a week so we decided to start cooking through Anthony Bourdain's cookbook. Tonight was homemade creamy tomato soup. We also made grilled cheese with Italian bread, harvarti, and gouda. Twas delicious! #foodporn#bourdain#tomatosoup
Couple weeks ago @CNN aired the last recorded episode of Anthony Bourdain’s PARTS UNKNOWN television show.
Bourdain took a trip to the Lower East Side in NYC, and reminisced about both the halcyon and dark days, that he spent trampling through a very different city in the 70s.
“Happiness was not the goal; satisfaction was the goal, as it still is. . . . We had to do something because we were burning; our blood was on fire,” said one of his guests, Lydia Lunch, who lived, thrived, and survived that period of her life alongside Bourdain.
Not all of his friends were as lucky. On numerous occasions, Bourdain’s talked about how violence, drug addiction, and AIDS cost many of his friends’ lives.
It was a beautiful tribute, appropriate in its nostalgia and simplicity. We think Anthony Bourdain would have appreciated it. RIP.
Im always on the real vibe. No shame in giving yall truth. I pride myself on being #hardbody and a #savage but PSA- This shit comes with a price. Life’s gonna catch up to you one way or another. Sometimes it’s best to just deal and feel shit head on. I got no problem saying it because at the end of the day, I know I’m as stone cold as they come. The only difference is, I go to me and me only when life hits me with that haymaker. Bouncing up from the mat like a real life Rocky Balboa. However, now that my life’s in a better place, I fee the healthy way for me to handle these thoughts is to share them with yall so you can see that even the most stone faced, hard body dudes deal with this crazy thing called life on a deep level. We question ourselves as much, if not more, than the average person. But that’s where we breed our confidence. Yall are my motivation. Nothing can stop me and nothing can stop you and I dedicate each day of my life to the goal of proving to everyone of you that nothing’s impossible. NOTHING CAN STOP THE KING. But even Kings have their moments my friends. We just push through and conquer another day. That’s what makes us #KINGS#Staystrong#ToughGuy#Hard#Tough#RealTalk#RealestOneLivin#100 is #KingOfTheJungle#Bourdain
Hoo boy disappeared for a while there, but I’m back, y’all.
After a great couple of days in Armenia, we hopped in a minivan that took us through a winding road, briefly through Azerbaijan, across my 2nd on-foot border crossing, and, finally, to Tbilisi. We hung out in our designy, modern hotel for a bit before heading to the historic part of the city for a Bourdain-approved dinner. Cafe Gabriadze also sat next to a whimsical clock tower and was full of friendly cats. We chased dinner with some chacha at a nearby bar - that stuff could strip paint!

My dream is to do what this man did. Travel the world, experience different cultures and the community that cuisine can breed. However, it is the deep resonance I feel with @anthonybourdain and his untimely death that fuels my inspiration to live as this man did.
For anyone who’s dealt with #depression , yall know that the monster in your head is the real deal Holyfield. One minute...you’re on top of the world, the next you’re looking at your roommate’s gun like it’s the love of your life, ready to free you from yourself and all the world’s stresses.
I’m here to say that I’ve battled this beast for years and I’m not ashamed to admit it. When I say only God can humble me, it’s because no one has brought me to my knees more than myself. It’s hard to look at people as anything other than Monsters when you were once a Monster yourself, but my #KingOfTheJungle movement is to show all of you that the lowest of lows hold no power other than the power you give them. Life’s a bitch, but it’s all good so long as you make her your bitch. God’s a sick fuck type comedian friends. Love him. Trust him. We’re gonna be alright. I’m livin Proof. #Depression#SilentKiller#StayStrong#HardBody#KeepGrinding#ItGetsBetter#LivingProof#KeepYaHeadUo
« maybe that’s enlightenment enough. to know that there is no final resting place of the mind; no moment of smug clarity. perhaps wisdom is realizing how small i am, & unwise, & how far i have yet to go. »

we lost a lot of greatness this year & this one really stung. longtime influence. so many things about him resonate with me & my life... he was a writer, chef, traveler, TV personality, ex-drug addict, realist, hedonist. his favorite food was Vietnamese. he had an operating principle that he was eagerly willing to be wrong about everything. he gave tribute to the way the restaurant business can pound humility into a person, & the way his time as a drug addict gave him skills useful in his success. he was very Type A about certain things, needed control, but also thought some things — like the act of eating, embracing a new culture, or writing — should be a submissive experience. he was aware of his appetites & didn’t let them take control — claimed his whole life was a series of strategies to outsmart the lesser version of him living inside. (integral for me.) i could go on…
the way he articulated his life & the world planted seeds in me as a kid that helped me start forming my identity. i always felt this clash between the side of me i got from my mom & Vietnamese heritage, & the artsy, rebellious side i was suppressing to “fit in.” he showed me a major example of how those parts could coexist well inside a person, long before i started learning how to embrace my individuality more tastefully & let my freak flag fly.
he was as real as they get. that’s often a result of being painfully self-aware.. which can be powerful in a great way, clearly, but it can also lead to a certain kind of end if not handled well enough — a fact we’re all coming to know all too well & which unfortunately, i’m familiar with.
he bought a piece of art right before he left us. i added a picture of it to my bedroom wall the morning i found out. it’s called, ‘The sky is falling, I am learning to live with it.’ rest easy to the GOAT. ⠀⠀
📌 Dong Il Jang, Ktown Los Angeles .
#Bourdain , Roy Kim, and Roy Choy all went here to film the episode about K-town. Nowadays, there is no shortage of KBBQ at every block in #ktownla but this is where it’s all started. Good food, with a side of history. I’d say it’s a must for newly minted #KBBQ lovers out there. #anthonybourdain#TonyXTea : follow me as I travel through the states and eat at the places Tony (Bourdain) recommended in his documentary #partsunknown
We lost one of the good guys. He was raw, he was fearless, he was ferociously human. He also was a traveler I greatly admired. He once said "Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown." You will be sorely missed. RIP. #AnthonyBourdain#traveler#bourdain#foodie
