Not quite as smooth as the first time I made it to the top, but a lot smoother than the first dozen attempts when I struggled with tiny grips. Thankfully I had lots of encouragement.
We spend a lot of time talking about food here, but it’s important to note the difference between how nutrition benefits us mere mortals versus those elite climbers 😉 Because believe or not paying attention to diet and nutritional needs is important no matter which category you fall into! It’s also key to note that if you’re training for an extended or rigorous trip, you should change your diet to reflect that! The bottom line - climbing is a great excuse to optimize our food choices, so we all become the best climbers we can be! ALSO! If you have nutrition-specific questions, it’s always great to talk to an RD to get the best information, regardless of whether or not you’re an athlete.
“The Bear Host Traverse” V11 (named for my former volunteer job in the campground). This is a fun power endurance problem that I put up on the Campground Boulder in Tuolumne Meadows a couple years ago. It starts on farthest right problem Eric’s Picnic (sit) and finishes on the farthest left problem G23 Arête. Mind your tendons on the little crimps! 🎥 @wildexpanse
