How to stay cool in Texas summers:
1. Find a (clean) body of water
2. Sit in body of water (chair optional)
3. Crack open an iced cold adult beverage (iced cold is key)
4. Recycle container of beverage and do not under any circumstances leave it at or in or around the body of water. Because trashing nature is the opposite of COOL.
This has been a surprise PSA.
Mia is sporting our absolute FAVORITE earth friendly @earthdoglife hemp leash. Although we swap to a waterproof collar for swim days at camp because it dries faster without having to take it off, both the leash and collar can get soaked and will dry pretty fast if you hang them up (and they WONT smell!). Both are machine washable if they get extra muddy, and they last forever, even with a super active hiker/swimmer like Mia. Best of all, their products are made sustainably from hemp!
Earth Dog is hands down my favorite leash/collar company: sustainable, eco friendly, and they give back to great causes. They are cute and functional: the lobster style clasp on the leash is the most genius things everrrr. I can't even use other leashes now 😂. ONE LAST THING: they are great for dogs with allergies/sensitive skin, because the organic hemp is extra soft and doesn't have any irritants in it! That means it's also good for people with sensitive skin, cause like...ya gotta hold the leash, ya know?
Ice Cream!! Last week we made @smoofl_ Dog Ice Creams! Today I taste one of the ice creams! Delicious!! 😍

At eighteen weeks, #Elphie has come a long way. She is mostly potty trained, and mom and dad were able to put back out their white rug! She had also grown so much that she was able to get her Big Girl Harness and Collar! Elphie knows sit, stay, paw, speak, lay down, roll over, give me kiss, look at me, and come here!
She is still working on coming here with distractions, quiet/not barking when she doesn't get her way, not "hitting", and not jumping on people or things. She has also recently started begging, and so we are now working on that as well.
Elphie has been some new places! She has visited Longview Lake (where she had her first "accident", a run-in with a bike giving her cuts and a limp), Loose Park (where she had so much fun learning fetch and running around until mom thought we were going to have to carry her to the car), and the Pool (where we learned she's very afraid of mom and dad drowning, AND that she is an amazing swimmer with her webbed lab paws!). She did amazing on Independence Day, when she wasn't afraid of any of the fireworks, and met more dogs that have since been added to the River Market Dog Squad! She also has now gone to a dog going away party, when she very much enjoyed playing with her RMDS for hours at @triberivermarket. And she has become River Market famous, being unable to go on a walk without seeing her friends.
Elphie feels so much at #fureverhome and has become mom and dad's favorite thing and she's really become part of our lives (who doesn't love a dog that loves to see you when you get home, demands to nap on you, and cuddles with you all night?). She really is something special.
