📚 3rd read :
I must say that The Chamber of Secrets is not my favourite book in the series, mostly because I find it a little bit boring. There is not much happening and it's not all that entertaining. What's always interesting for me when I reread the series is to rediscover all the differences between the books and the movies. I have to admit that I think that I prefer the movie to the book for this one, I enjoy it more. Anyway, still an amazing world and series, just not the strongest book of the seven.
P.S: the illustrated version is beautiful 😍. 📚

" 'Take care of that daughter of yours. She's much too handsome.' . 'Even her good looks are stolen from somebody or other I suppose', thought Toby... . ...'Wrong every way. Wrong every way!' said Trotty, clasping his hands. Born bad. No business here!' "
.
.
📔A wonderful gripping New Year eve's story, Toby is a ticket porter who lives with his daughter. Though he is very gentle and kind, his one vice is that he believes what rich upper class people say regarding poor people, that they are born bad and can never do good. On new year's eve the spirit of The Chimes takes him to a journey to his future self and makes him realise that poor people are equally good and should be grateful and happy. .
.
📔The story gave out Christmas Carol vibes but lacked in some places, I felt that giving lesson to an already kind and sensible man who was suffering, wasn't one of the best plots by Dickens. .
.
📔Some say that Dickens tried to write a story similar to Christmas Carol after seeing it's popularity and thus published The Chimes in the next Christmas. But he failed to arouse similar feelings. .
.
📔Nonetheless, it was a good short story if seen separately from Christmas Carol, I enjoyed it! 😇

My long overdue review of Dyed in the Green is on Goodreads. Please give it a read and comment below. .
Specifically, this book introduced me to the term Bechdel Test. I actively consider the portrayal of women in fiction, but until now, didn't realize there was a term for it. .
.
Despite the above, I finished the book wanting to continue the series as I love the Canadian setting and focus on conservation and protected areas. ⭐⭐⭐ 3.5/5

📚 Very nice surprise. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. What I liked the most was how the three stories were linked with one another and how they all came full-circle at the end of the last short-story. Also, I have discovered two authors from which I would gladly read more because their writing was very pleasing, aka Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I already knew John Green and to be honest, his writing and his story were my least favourite.
The three short-stories created a full story that was well crafted and very entertaining to read. It was also quite original and cute.
Would definitely recommend, it's perfect for the Xmas season ! 📚

My first book review! The divergent series is a famous series consisting of three books. It is about a society divided into factions where each faction has a belief like selflessness or telling the truth. The main character is Beatrice (or Tris) and the first two books are from her perspective. However, the third book is from four’s perspective as well. .
.
Overall, I rate this entire series a 6.4 out of ten as although the first two are a good read, the final book (I felt) was a bit boring and moved slowly.Overall, It is a good choice and many times I have come back to read it!

Hi Fellas,
Need a light book for Christmas? 🌲🌲🌲
I currently finished reading #theaccidentalbeautyqueen by @teriwilsonauthor .
📗📘📙
I've been in the mood for rom-com for quite a while lately and this book just did that. If you enjoy #disneyfreakyfriday or even #princessdiaries ,you're gonna love it too.
Everything falls out of place when two polar opposite twins switch places. There's drama, crying, romance, french bulldogs, glitz, glam, angst and a lot of Harry Potter and Pride & Prejudice references! And most of all it focuses on self-discovery.
I rate it 4/5 stars.
🌟 🌟 🌟
Q-Which is your go to Christmas movie?

Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.

About the book: You know what I like? Some real bad existential crisis by the sweet medium of literature. You know when you eat those really spicy buffalo wings and it burns your tongue but you keep eating it cause it burns so good. Yeap. That is how I felt reading the book. This book is about two guys named Vladimir and Estragon sitting under a tree and waiting for someone called Godot. That is it, I have actually told you the whole story. You may ask, "Okay so, why did Samuel Beckett win the Nobel Prize in Literature and why is Waiting for Godot his most famous work?"
To that I will say, get yourself a copy, notice every detail and then look around you. This I believe is one of the best works of literature ever created. In my opinion, this is what literature is about, to make you think and question. .
.
About the author:
Samuel Beckett =
Human Behavior + Dark Humour + Human Existence = Yum. .
.
Fun Fact: Samuel Beckett worked for James Joyce (Author of Dubliners and Ulysses) in James Joyce's end years as he was nearly blind and the two became good friends. Then one fine day James Joyce's daughter Lucia started creeping Beckett out with her romantic advances, well then, Samuel Beckett rejected her and shizzz was awks yo. That's how the friendship ended, yeah just wanted to put it out there. .

✨Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon✨

If you’re looking for your next read you just HAVE to make it this book!! It’s about a girl called Madeline, a teenage girl who has never set foot outside as she has a rare auto immune disease that could cause her going outside into unfiltered air to get sick and die. Her life is spent entirely indoors, never feeling the sun on her skin or the wind in her hair...until Olly moves in next door to her. She falls in love slowly and eventually leaves in the middle of the night and convinces him to go to Hawaii with her. She experiences the sea, new foods, different air than that in her house and so much more, all whilst anticipating sickness and inevitable death. She does get sick eventually, and her mum gets her back home and bans her from seeing Olly but then she finds out a HUGE secret that changes her life forever. I’m DYING to write what that is but don’t want to be a spoiler so I’ll just say that everyone really needs to read this book!! It’s a light read, has you on the edge of your seat and you do NOT expect that ending!

📚 2nd read:
This reread was exactly what I needed. It is definitely a slow read, in the sense that nothing much happens, but it was just the perfect cosy read for me at this time of the year. There is a scene in this novella that I love very much because of how meaningful it is and how much I relate to it. I'm talking of the discussion that Feyre has with the weaver about the wall hanging called The Void. It just hits me hard everytime I read it. I wish I could have that tapestry, to be honest. Anyway, I loved rereading ACOFAS and I am so excited for the next book in this series. 📚

📚 I feel like I am bad at choosing Christmas themed books because this anthology was a complete letdown, mostly because I found most of those stories to be a little bleak or they had a sad undertone to them that really put me off. I usually like darker contemporaries but for December I was looking for something a little bit more uplifting and My True Love Gave To Me did not quite deliver.
I was very excited for Rainbow Rowell, Kiersten White and Laini Taylor story, thinking that they would be my favourite ones but in the end, I enjoyed Stephanie Perkins novella the most.
Even though I did not appreciate all the stories, I like the fact that I have discovered quite a lot of authors and some of them really piqued my interest. 📚

“In the stories of old, a hero is the one who sweeps in with a drawn sword and noble face, to kill the Dragon and free the princess. In the stories of old it never seems to dawn on the princess that she should be careful not to put herself at mercy of those who would do her ill in the first place.
I don't live in the stories of old.”

Hello my loves! Happy Friday. The exam timetable has pretty much made all days interchangeable to me and I have to study everyday but Friday just has a good feeling about it. We had our first frost a couple of days ago and since then I’ve been bundled up like the abominable snowman. However the weather is not cooperating as it went right back to being sunny after the frost! So I just look ridiculous! What’s your favourite weather to read in cold or warm? .
Now back to catching up on tags, thanks to @youngbookcraft for the #bookrating tag. Let’s go! ❄️
The most read book? I’m in a constant state of reading the Mercy Thompson series. They are my comfort series.
❄️
All time favourite book?
Of course I don’t have favourites I’m a good mother but probably For Darkness Shows the Stars and Crow Mountain are books that seem only to be MY favourites.
❄️
Best book of 2018?
Ooh what a question! Maybe Spinning Silver or The Last Namsara. ❄️
Worst books of 2018?
Eek I think this year as been a pretty good year books wise I also tent to dnd books I’m not enjoying so they don’t count. But probably...Dumplin’ .

Eek I think this year as been a pretty good year books wise I also tent to dnd books I’m not enjoying so they don’t count. But probably...Dumplin’ . "It was sculpted by someone who knew you pretty well." - The Stone Rose 5⭐
.
.
This book is unironically going on my top 10 of 2018 list. It may not exactly be highbrow fiction, but for a Doctor Who fan (and particularly a TenxRose fan), there is a whole lot to love here. This feels like it could be an episode of series 2: the Doctor and Rose dynamic is on fire, there are countless time travel and paradoxical hijinks, and enough puns to keep me entertained.

📚 I've been patiently waiting for December to come to read this book, hoping it would be a warm and fuzzy Christmas book. Well, it was surely a nice read but it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I definitely liked the criticism of reality tv shows that we can find throughout the book. Other than that it was a pretty generic story, with plot twists that were not so original and quite predictable. It would have been fine if it had been full on, but it felt as if the author tried to write something outside of the usual winter romance book while keeping most of its code and it didn't work for me. Especially the ending that I found way too predictable and unrealistic at the same time. I don't know if I make much sense but this book confused me a little. I guess it was just trying too hard to be different when I actually wanted it to be more simple. 📚

First read for the #tistheseasonathon ☃️ . It completed the challenges of reading a book with red or green on the cover and reading a book while listening to Christmas music.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 This is a book I like to recommend. It's a great story and very interesting read for young or mature audiences. It's about what happens when the Earth's rotation slows told in the perspective of a young girl. I posted a review for this a couple years back. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

.
About the book: Okay, this book :) is not narrated by the protagonist like the Catcher in the Rye, nor is it narrated by the protagonist's friend like The Great Gatsby, and neither is it narrated by omnipresent God like The Old Man and the Sea; this book is narrated by Death itself. (My inner 98% dark chocolate craving, true crime binge watching, slytherin soul had an orgasm). The book really is a different experience, it starts off as an abstract scene of a mother and two children in the steam engined train moving forward amid the ever white snow, death describing the moments and colours and how it would intervene. Death talks directly to the reader, it is full of wit and hard truth and I dig that :3. As for the story, it revolves around a family who oppose Nazi and book burning and the little girl in the family steals books from the book burning rituals to learn to read and write.
.
.
About the author: Mark Zusak is an Australian Author living that laid back life with two cats while being a dog person. Before being an author he was briefly a house painter, a janitor and a high school english teacher. .
.
Fun fact: He rewrote the first 90 pages of this book 150-200 times (And I can tell you, its perfection)

It's been a while since I read an indie book. The rating of THE V GIRL is high and my friends are gushing about it. I admit the premise is intriguing, and not for the faint hearts. The story follows a virgin 18 year old girl who lives in a world (future America?) that's torn by civil war. In this brutal world, rape is legalized. I know, don't ask. As I said, not for the faint hearts. The soldiers have the right to do whatever they please to anyone, even beat people to death. But this is also a love story between this girl and her soldier protector. As normally with indie books, the writing style and format often don't follow those of the traditional publishing. That's why I love it. It's refreshing, if done right. The backstory is strong. The slow burn of the romance is also nicely crafted. But I can't get the hero. His personality does not quite show who he is. And it confuses me because it's like I'm reading a story of a man with many masks. Overall, I'm glad I gave this book a try.

📚 It was my fourth time reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This time I chose to read the illustrated version while listening to the audiobook and it was a great experience. I must admit, though, that I realised that I am not a big fan of J.K.Rowling's writing in itself. Of course, I love the world, the story and the characters but the writing is really not for me and I guess that's why it's always a bit hard for me to go through these books, but the audiobook helped a lot. It's always a great time to be back in the wizarding world and it really gave me the desire to reread the whole series. My 5/5 stars are purely out of nostalgia and because I don't really see myself giving it a lower rating, but if this time had been the first time I had ever read Harry Potter, I would have given it more around a 4/5. 📚

From Ashes to Flames by A.M. Hargrove .

.
After watching both Marin and Grey’s lives go up in flames you will be rooting for them to find love and happiness, but the real love story here is the relationship each forges with the adorable children. The heartache and chaos were much better portrayed than the love and romance, although she definitely did a great job on the steamy scenes! I felt that the sincere and heartfelt moments lacked depth, but were sufficient enough. The emotional turmoil and supporting relationships were more than enough to keep me reading. I can’t wait to read the other brother’s stories and find out if they ever got Marshmallow!

Life is made up of a sum of moments. Reading this book is like looking through a camera at those moments. First you see a town, then you see it's people, zoom out and you see the world. 🌟🌟🌟🌟/ 5

It took me a little while to get into the book, but once I was in it, I couldn't put it down. The end leaves you both satisfied and wanting more. I can't wait to pick up the next one. And maybe go back and write down about 100 quotes from this one.
A Man Called Ove wasn't really a book for me. So I was hesitant, but wanted to give this one a try. Backman picks some characters to write about that are more so triggers for me than his sensitive topics, but his truly masterful structure and poignant words on human experience from many different perspectives make it worth it to read his words. After I make my way through some of his others, I may make my way back to A Man Called Ove.

Beartown would be a great show. It has TheCW level transitions, and a would be like a mix of Riverdale and This is Us, and maybe a mix in of Friday Night Lights, but I'm not sure because I haven't seen that one.

I rate the Manipulated Series ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 out of 5
.
.
While the plot was well developed and the action kept the entire series moving at a fast pace, the lack of character and relationship development disappointed. As a fan of dystopian novels, I need to feel emotionally connected to the characters so I am fully invested in their survival and the success of their relationships. In the first 3 books, the main character manages only a few shallow conversations with the love interest. He kisses her twice in the first 3 books combined and she cuts both lack luster kisses off. Then suddenly in the 4th book they are madly in love and living together. Even stranger, another supporting male that had only given a couple of awkward looks is supposed to be heart broken from the lack of her returned love. I thoroughly enjoyed the different societies created and the storyline, I just wish I could say the same for the characters. I will still be anxiously awaiting the next book, as the newest development in settlements is intriguing.

So I recently finished Lazarus by Swedish Lars Kepler, the seventh and finale installment in the crime/thrillers series about Joona Linna and Saga Bauer📚 .
I’ll give this book 3.5 of 5 stars⭐️
Would have given it a higher rating —I really love the characters and the writing style— but the ending didn’t sit well with me at all and it’s a big reason of why it came down to only 3.5 👀

Read my first contemporary romance novel and I will say... I really enjoyed the tension between the characters. The rivalry, the banter, the chemistry.
However, I do feel jaded, based on my own personal experiences—which made connecting with the development of the relationship a little hard and made me sad cause that shit never happens IRL😭😂 but I’m still ganna give it an 8/10 for taking me on that journey. .

📚 I think that it's the first book in this series that felt a bit too long for me. For 2/3 of the book nothing much happened, it was a lot of talking and not much action, so it tended to get a tad boring. I still enjoyed reading about all of those characters and I love this world, so I had a good time anyway. I think that this series would make great movies or TV series. I am very excited to read the last book to see how it all wraps up. 📚

Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri
.
Published: 1999
.
Rate: 8.5/10
.
About the book: The book is painfully nostalgic and even more so if you live away from your origin. The book comprises of 6 short stories each surrounding around characters who are mostly away from India (their country) and living in the states or visiting India or just well being in India. The themes for most of the stories are change and loss. I must say, each story has alot of depth, the storyline and the way it is written is well balanced. (I read this book 4 times and will read it again this vacation). It has a certain sense of truthfulness about how the characters feel which is something rare to achieve when you have readers like me. (because I can spot holes in the characters real quick). Margaret Atwood describes a good story as writing a good lie which can be held for long between the reader and writer. With that definition, the stories in this book are great.
.
.
About the Author: Jhumpa Lahiri is an American-Indian author who was a masters student when she wrote this book. This was her debut book and it has won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize.
(Yes, what are we doing with our lives haha)
.
.
Fun Fact: After writing in English for many years, Jhumpa Lahiri quite randomly decided to write in Italian, a language she long loved and had a fascination with. So yeap. Now she writes in ltalian. (I think she is that mysterious girl in the coffee shop who you fall in love with at first glance, she has those intelligent eyes and a genuine love towards what she does) .

(I think she is that mysterious girl in the coffee shop who you fall in love with at first glance, she has those intelligent eyes and a genuine love towards what she does) . . . . #jhumpalahiri  #jhumpa_lahiri  #interpreterofmaladies  #interpreter_of_maladies  #quotes  #pultizerprize  #bookaddict  #bookstagram  #booksofinstagram  #bookish  #bookreview  #bibliophile  #bookwormsunite  #book  #bookclub  #bookworm  #bookrating  #bookblogger  #booktography  #bookloversofbd  #bookhoarder  #bookshelves  #bookquotes  #quotesdaily  #quotes

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

About the Book: Okay, this is one of those books which are well appreciated by the whole world, except me. To be fair, I had read this under pressure because this was a part of my english syllabus back in college and in addition to that, I am not a big fan of Dystopian Novels. I love how the story was written, I love the details, but I feel it has a weak storyline. The story is narrated by Offred who starts off by remembering the red room where she lived along with other women like her, guarded by "Aunts" under strict rules. They then move to families who take them in simply as an object which would reproduce for them. We are talking about an era where fertile women are used only as reproducing objects because most women lack fertility. The upper class families can afford it all, but the lower class infertiles live away from the city and die very soon in the toxic waste and the fertile women are Handmaids.
.
.
About the Author: Margaret Atwood is described as a feminist writer by alot of critics but she resists saying so herself. She also describes her novels written in an imagined future society as "Speculative Fiction", she does not like to use the phrase "Science Fiction". You might assume from these that she is annoying; she is not, trust me, I have seen some of her videos and she is quite fun and alive at 76. (She had a cameo in the first episode of the netflix series adapted from this novel)
.
.
Fun Fact: Atwood does not consider this book a work of "Fiction", in her words:
"Everything I wrote in that book was happening at that time, or had already happened"

The Upside (Originally Published As You Changed My Life) by Abdel Sellou - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
.
A memoir. If you watched the movie The Intouchable, you would recognize the author of this book, Abdel, as the Arab guy in the movie. If not, read the book and watch the movie later.

Good stuff: Lovely. The memoir begins with a fleeing scene, running away from the cops in Abdel's early years as a thief. Then the story goes back and explain his childhood, how he gets here, how his uncle and aunt become his parents and how neglected he is with his actions since he was very young. The stories flow with time and give us a glance of how the world works in his mind. It is thrilling, fun, careless and crazy. And of course, the stories of him with the paralyzed man, Philippe Pozzo Di Borgo. The incredible, unbelievable friendship between them with all the craziness, laughter, grievances, and growth in both men.

Cons: Nothing really. This book doesn't have any ending as their lives don't just stop there. It's a collection of stories of one's life from bad to good, from ignorant to more mature and caring. It's life.

✨The hate you give by Angie Thomas✨ ‘Once upon a time there was a hazel eyed boy with dimples. I called him Khalil. The world called him a thug.’ I LOVED this book soooo much! The story is about a 16 year old girl who was with her best friend Khalil in a car when they were pulled over and Khalil is shot by an officer, for no other reason than that he is black. It goes on to show her struggle in speaking out and trying to get justice for Khalil, who to the world is portrayed as a thug who sold drugs, but to Starr was the kindest and humblest guy who never wanted to sell and was just selling to pay off a debt to save his mama’s life. She speaks of her struggle to hide her ‘black side’ when she goes to her white school and hiding her ‘white’ side & white boyfriend when she’s in her black neighbourhood. The end isn’t the happiest, and you don’t get the justice you hope for, but it portrays a reality for some and you can’t help but still feel happy at Starr and her families enthusiasm and positivity at carrying on with life no matter what the circumstances. I highly recommend this book and can’t WAIT to watch the movie now!! About the book: l will tell you this, this is not everyone's cup of tea. The protagonist, Holden Claufield, starts off by talking directly to the readers and explaining what has happened. He is a clueless teenager who seems to be using a lot of curse words and describing everyone as being "phoney". He finds himself being in a fight with his dorm mate and it leads him to running away from his dorm in the odd hours of night to New York City.
Now, it all seems like a normal plot for a basic teenager type John Greenish Novel yeah? WRONG. Here are some creepy facts about this book:
1) John Lennon's (Yes that's right, Beatles singer) murderer was obsessed with this book. When the police arrived David Chapman (the murderer) was reading aloud from the book and he signed his statement as Holden Claufield.
2) The next year of the incident, police found the book in the home of home of John Hinckley Jr. after he attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan.
3) Lee Harvey Oswald was also said to be fond of the book and had a copy on his bookshelf when he shot Kennedy
Now, there seems to be a correlation between loving this book and assassinating famous people, definitely a straight line cannot be drawn to these facts but I can tell you this, Catcher in the Rye holds within, if read carefully, a mind that is far from normal. *happy late haloween woo* .
.
Okay now for a fun fact: it has been said the book has popularized the phrase "Laughing My Ass Off". So yeah, LMAO that we write might have been popularised by this book.

My slowest month all year, I basically just sleep anytime I’m not at work these days 🙈 I also didn’t have any 5-star books whaaaa?! December better give me all the stars otherwise this is not a good end to 2018 😂. November was also all about reading books that had been gifted by my husband-to-be, I think I did well! 4/7 books were from him, and another was one he picked out of the TBR Jar 😎

Ever since I read The Wedding date by #jasmineguillory I have been wanting to read Carlos’s story. I finally got a chance to read it on my kindle over Thanksgiving break and I have to say I’m a little disappointed with the story. I did give it 2.5 stars because of the amount of diversity the book has, which is really hard to find. But other then that the story felt flat, superficial and dull. I thought her set up of the story was good but it lack depth, motivation or overall good character development. I really wanted to like this book but sadly it was a miss for me😕😐 - ——> have any of y’all read this? If so what’s your thought?

Hello Guys,
I finished reading this seriously long graphic novel today, still very unsure of what to feel about it... It's the MOST unusual lovestory I've ever read.
.
Personally speaking , reading it was a painful experience for me-›racial inequality, child abuse, objectifying women, pollution, human vices and greed etc. added to the complexity of the plot. The ending, though happy, is thought provoking. Some parts are even controversial and disturbing. It changes the reader's perspective on Life, Sacrifice, Love and Faith. .
The artwork is excellent, especially for Middle-Eastern motifs and Arabic calligraphy peppered throughout.
.
I rate it 3.3/5 stars for my sheer limited understanding. Craig Thomson's writing and artwork are really raw and very impactful. However, I donot recommend it to a beginner reader because of graphic and disturbing topics covered.
.
Q-›What are your thoughts on graphic novels?
A-›I think writing a graphic novel and illustrating it is a really really exhausting task, but the end result is much more impactful.

📚 I have found this book while scrolling through Goodreads' lists of books inspired by Middle-East tales and I am happy I did. Even though it is not the book of the year, it is still a very interesting retelling of The Arabian Nights. It is told in a very fairytalesque fashion that casts a warm atmosphere upon the story. Something that was a bit bothersome was the names of the two main characters were very similar so it could get confusing at times, especially if I didn't pay enough attention. Other than that I enjoyed reading this book, it was well crafted and beautifully written. 📚

📚 This was a very nice historical romance with an interesting love interest who suffered from Tourette syndrome. I had never read anything about this syndrome and I didn't know that it was going to be discussed in this book, so this was a great surprise. Apart from that, the story is very sweet and the two main characters are both interesting to read about.
It was my first venture into historical romance written by someone else than Tessa Dare and I am not disappointed, The Demon Duke was an entertaining read. 📚

📚 All in all, this was a good book. I liked the characters and their relationship even though I feel like the reveal of each other identities got a little too dragged on. Still, I found the topics of grief and guilt very well explored. The writing was well suited to the story because it wasn't too flowery. I also have to say that it seemed well researched and accurate when there was talk of photography and cars. I also really like the side character Rev and I am very happy to know that there is a companion novel about him.
I can't say that it's been a life-changing read but it was an interesting one. 📚

I can't say that it's been a life-changing read but it was an interesting one. 📚 . #brigidkemmerer  #book  #reading  #bookreview  #library  #juliet  #letterstothelost  #declan  #bookworm  #finishedbook  #grief  #youngadultfiction  #youngadultbook  #review  #opinion  #letters  #lovestory  #france  #bookinenglish  #rating  #bookrating  #bookish  #bookaddict  #contemporary  #bookstagram  #bibliophile  #booklovers  #books  #yacontemporary  #romance  📘

“Paper towns by John Green”

This book was a strange read. It starts with Q and Margo on an all night adventure of revenge and then Margo disappearing off the face of the earth. She’s left behind clues but no one but Q takes it seriously since she’s done it before. Only this time Margo is gone for good. I enjoyed the humour and banter between Q and his friends & laughed out loud a lot, but I hated Margo’s character and was hoping for a much better ending. The book makes you laugh but also gives you a great feeling of sadness as Q looks tirelessly for her and puts the rest of his life on hold. Overall it was an okay book but I didn’t find it one of John Greens best.

I rate this book 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 #johngreen #papertowns #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookreviews #bookrating #bookratings #book #books #booklover #booklovers #booklove #bookworm #bookworms #bookwormsofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookgeek #bookgeeks #honestbookreview #honestbookreviews

📚 Hum...definitely not as good as the first one. I cannot say that it was a bad read, but it was not as entertaining as Cinder. However, I met a new favourite character of mine...Wolf. He was the highlight of the book for me and I hope that he will stay as interesting in the rest of the series. Thorne was also very funny and I am curious to read more about him. Cinder and Scarlet are, of course, very inspiring due to their high level "badassery". I need to get my hands on Cress to keep reading this still quite enjoyable series. 📚

Zero Shadow Day is being celebrated in India and losing their shadow seems fun and normal to people until they come to know that this time their shadow hasn't vanished temporarily but forever...
.
.
The Book of M by @pengshepherd is a gripping debut novel which follows Max, Ory, Naz, Immanuel, Malik, etc. in their journey to "somewhere", with their shadow or without. Characters are driven by personal motivations and are met with immense difficulties. Those who lose their shadows tend to lose their memories gradually, the Forgetting is so extreme that at one point they become dangerous to other humans. Ory loses his wife Max when she starts Forgetting and runs away. .
.
I found the novel to be extremely entertaining for most parts (specially the last three parts). The first two parts seemed quite slow to me and I felt that the story is going nowhere. Also there are multiple point of views and loads of characters which made it slightly overwhelming for me to catch up with all. The ending was dissatisfying for me as the twist was unexpected (and unwanted), but many people might like it for just the same thing! .
.
Will Ory find his wife? Will she forget him completely? Read the book to find out! 😁 .

“She knew her own worth. She would seize her destiny with all the strength and spirit within her, and bend them all to her will: every man kneeling and every woman overshadowed.“

Rating: 3.75 stars ✨

So I had some pretty mixed feelings about this book. The first half was pretty boring and not much happens but it picks up a little towards the end. The characters were also not my fav. I hated Xifeng lol and I know she’s suppose to be unlikable as she’s technically a villain but damn I wanted her to fail so bad! She was just so narcissistic and full of hate and jealousy for other women. The book did give me some The Tudors vibe though so that was nice. And I also really enjoyed all the drama with Lady Sun!

I’m looking forward to reading the sequel to this which came out at the beginning of this month! Really I just wanna see Xifeng’s downfall LOL .

📚 I had heard that his book was perfect for fans of the ACOTAR series by Sarah J.Maas and even though I can see where this opinion comes from, I did not enjoy Stolen Songbird very much. My main problem was the writing, it was not immersive and not whimsical enough for my taste. I also didn't care that much about the characters, at least the main ones, particularly because their romance didn't feel natural at all. It kind of felt forced for the sake of the story but not really because the characters love each other. I probably won't be reading the sequels and I don't necessarily recommend it. 📚
