The husband and I have been on a bit of a home-improvement mission over the last few days. It’s all pretty small scale stuff - a few shelves here, some new artwork there - but it’s still exciting for me and I like how it’s made some rooms feel even more homely!
This photo is of a new corner in our bedroom which is coming together nicely. We still need some more artwork for our walls though so I’d love to hear any suggestions of illustrators or places you’d recommend for nice wall decor!
I took my inspiration from @paperpurity for these shots ✨
I still haven't read The Goldfinch yet even though I really want to as I loved The Secret History! It's such a big book that I keep putting it off and reading shorter books instead oops 🙈
time for a review! i finished carry on about 2 days ago and i’m so glad i did! my friend let me borrow their copy of it (thank you!!!!) and now i’m heavily considering buying my own. i read fangirl about 3 years ago and had a re read since then and i loved it both times, i just never ended up picking up carry on. when i just started bookstagram, Ava from @cupofbookbutterflies told me it was one of her favourite books and that i should read it, and i was reminded of how much i loved fangirl so i gave it a try. this went wayyyy above my expectations. i thought it was going to be good, but i didn’t think it was going to be as good as it was. i haven’t read a book this long so fast... ever i think. the characters and the plot constantly had me interested, i was always thinking of the book when i wasn’t reading it (i still am!!) it felt like i had read the series cath in fangirl had for myself, i felt so connected to these characters and was so sad to see the book end. this is definitely a 5 star read, and i’m so so happy i finally got to it! i have no bad things to say about it. you can imagine how excited i was when @allthebrightboooks told me about a sequel coming out in a few years! carry on is worth a read and a re read. if you liked the simon snow concept in fangirl, or just want a good book about magicians and vampires, pick up carry on! i was so so impressed. rainbow rowell, you’ve done it again!
Hey guys 😊
Today we're here in the lovely town of Mantua, where Virgil grew up 😍
He's a very important figure in Latin literature, and him and his Aeneid are often required reading in schools all over Italy.
We're proud to dedicate to him this post, cause we like to give importance not only to international authors, but also to our own literary background, which made us the readers we are today.
"Mantua me genit" 📖
"The world turned upside down,' Beauvoir continued. 'It was at once more beautiful and more frightening than you'd been led to believe. And suddenly you didn't know what to do. Who to trust. Where to turn. It's terrifying. Being lost is so much worse than being on the wrong road. That's why people stay on it for so long."
THIS BOOK. I finished the audio book during work last night and desperately need sleep, but I HAVE to talk about it. I went into it thinking it was pretty meh and feeling kind of bored and then two thirds of the way through BAM 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read. Penny made me laugh out loud so many times, especially with Ruth's whole precycling thing where she takes stuff from neighbors before they run out of use for the items and the town's discussions on what different groups of animals are called.😂
And as I was laughing I was just as soon crying with grief, sorrow, and joy. Penny hit devastating topics in this one and Gamache's quest nearly broke me. Take me under your wing Gamache! I have also been a long time fan of Reine Marie and I adore Agent Lacoste, so I have been so glad to see them featured more often with each book. They have been some of my favorite characters to get to know. And Beauvoir's character development! Stop it. I love him. I could go on and on about this book. And I will. There were so many quotable passages, but I will just leave you with this:
"Rumors are hard to prove, but they're even harder to disprove."
This cover is too good so i have to share it again.BLOCK SHOT from my forever favorite author @kennedyryan1 Feast your eyes on this...only your eyes tho🤔 • •

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat... The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.
Her anger is...arousing.
Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes,
every time she grits her teeth, gets me...well, you know.
If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man.
I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it.
I'm sure what you meant to say is "Coming right up.” They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing.
Take Banner. She assumes she's winning,
but this game?
She doesn't even know how to play. .
If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I’d have exactly one dollar.
One night. One epic fail. One dollar...and I'm out.
I've moved on.
I’ve found success in a field ruled by men.
Anything they can do, I have done better.
They can keep the field while I call the shots,
blocking them when I have to.
And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?
Boy, please. Go sit down. Have 𝙨𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 seats.
I'll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.
Oh, I didn't say the struggle wasn't real.
But I've got that one dollar, and Jared won't have me. .

Last day in Cornwall today, I shall be sad to leave. One of the books I've read whilst here is Frenchmans Creek as that's where we have been staying. It wasn't my favourite Du Maurier (Rebecca is incase you're interested!) but reading a book in the place that it's set definitely adds a certain something to the whole experience. Have you done this? And if so which books and where? I'd love to know! X

Today I'd like to ask you: what's most important for you when you read a book?? Is it the characters, the writing or maybe the world building?? I was thinking about this yesterday watching @miss.fiction's latest video on youtube, and I think that the most important quality a book must have is the ability of involving the reader in the story a lor. Does it make sense to you?? I mean, it happened that I read some excellent books, written wonderfully, that never made me feel part of the story, while there are less perfect books or series that I loved with all my heart even if they had flaws. The worst books, in my opinion, are the ones that never make you feel like you can't wait to go on with them. The books that you forget that are on your beside table, because you're not really interested in continuing them. What do you think about this??

About DIVE SMACK
Theo Mackey only remembers one thing for certain about the fire that destroyed his home: he lit the match.
Sure, it was an accident. But the blaze killed his mom and set his dad on a path to self-destruction. Everything else about that fateful night is full of gaping holes in Theo’s mind, for good reason. Maybe it’s better that way. As captain of the Ellis Hollow Diving Team, with straight A's and solid friends, he's only one semester away from securing a scholarship, and leaving his past behind.
But when a family history project gets assigned at school, new memories come rushing to the surface, memories that make Theo question what he really knows about his family, the night of the fire, and if he can trust anyone―including himself.
