I particularly love the way this butterfly-stitch blank book turned out. The indigo dyed handmade paper is to swoon over + natural deckle edges on all the pages! Additionally the way the cover poofed up prior to being pressed. I just love that! @barizaki —There are two seats open in the July 28 class. that’s next Saturday! It’s such a wonderful stitch. So minimal, yet sturdy enough to use for a large sketchbook! #sketchbook#draweveryday#bookbinder
Some binding inspiration!
This wonderful binding from c1575 is the oldest complete binding in my collection, which I bought based on a couple of very blurry photos on eBay, and was blown away by what arrived. The book was printed in 1569, but if you look between the decoration on the front board you'll see the initials LK, and a date of 75.
It later passed through the hands of Luce Keyes in 1610, probably a relative of LK. Successive owners have annotated the book in Ancient Greek, Latin, and Arabic. By the start of the 20th century it had entered the personal library of George I of Greece, and when I bought it a few years ago it was over in America. One well traveled book.
Guess who's back with a new product?! If you write, draw, sketch, or just need somewhere to jot your thoughts - you NEED this journal!! It is SO unique - you won't find it anywhere else.
