Aufgrund von etwas wenig Schlaf ( insbesondere für den Nachtschichtler @djdiamond ) war heute nicht ganz so viel Motivation bzw. Energie vorhanden aber trotzdem wurde natürlich alles wie geplant durchgezogen. Es ist dann immer ein gutes Gefühl das Training doch noch hinter sich gebracht zu haben. 🙌💪

Pull-ups used to be one of the hardest things for me to do, even just going for 3 used to be super hard! It’s crazy to think that I got my first pull-up just over a year ago! 🙏🏼 Now they seem pretty comfortable and I’m definitely happy with my progress! I hope that you are happy with yours too 🙌🏼💪🏼💪🏼

These scaled iron cross pulls are great to strengthen and prepare shoulders and straight arm strength that can transfer into many other movements such as wider grip MU’s, iron cross etc. The key is to keep arms and elbows straight and only go unassisted when you can retain this throughout to mitigate injuries. #fitness #training #calisthenics #gymnastics #bodyweighttraining #strength #gymnastic rings #ironcross #trainhard #elliotjamesfitness

Die Grundlagen sind wichtig um Grundkraft aufzubauen und müssen sitzen bevor man mit den signature Moves anfängt. Ca. 1 Jahr habe ich verbracht die Grundlagen zu trainieren bevor ich an solche Moves gedacht habe. In dieser Zeit kann es einem schwer fallen sich zu motivieren, aber wenn man dranbleibt wird man belohnt. Und selbst wenn man soweit ist und in den Ausdauerbereich rutscht kann man die Grundlagen auch stück für stück schwieriger gestalten, z.B. mit archer pushups und danach one arm pushups. Sticky Ribs, Sticky Spine. Already very fit, John came to me looking for more flexibility but continues because he has gained more strength as well.
John was barely able to sit on the floor because his hips were so tight and he was having tons of shoulder pain which I believe was coming from over “screwing” down into his lats. Look at him now, look at that rotation! Because we are opening his ribs he’s getting more breath into the body. It never seems to astonish him how such a small weight can inflict so much torture and make you winded.

Originally this was created for another client who is struggling with some hip issues. We had him putting his hand on a box down in the lunge to track his hip and glute. Both versions are a challenge and both will unstick that spine. I like using a plate with this but I’m sure a  kettlebell would do wonders too. Anyone got a kettlebell version?

I had a conversation with a client last night (after she completely crushed a session full of newer movements) all about this ☝🏻☝🏻

she said that at her old gym she constantly felt like she was letting people down when she was paired up with “fitter” people. she used to negatively self talked all workout & pushed herself through bad form just to try to not let her partner(s) down. She never felt like she was getting stronger, faster, more fit
.
After yesterday’s workout she said “I feel stronger, I feel like I’m doing this for MYSELF” 👏🏻
.
It didn’t happen over night... we’ve worked hard on breaking down old thought patterns, building confidence through proper movement & progression & of course overcoming challenges EVERY SINGLE workout to give her small wins (that add up to big goals over time)
.

It’s really easy to get caught up with what other people can do & therefore what you CAN’T do. “thanks social media for a constantly reminder that I’m not good enough”
.
But I challenge you to throw that BS away 💪🏻

Step 1| Start where you’re at, whatever fitness level or mental state that is |
Step 2| Get a measurable baseline of what that means ☝🏻 (timed workouts, 1RM lifts, # of reps, distance ran, etc) | 
Step 3| Build a game plan to CRUSH IT
Step 4| Train with a purpose - to beat your old self by a little each workout | 
Step 5| Re-measure your baseline workouts & see fat you’ve come

Left image is not the proper way but funny because I last longer in that position 😆 The video is how you prepare for the pose, you just have to lift the legs up when ready. Not an easy transition, a lot of load on the shoulders, but a great way to help strengthen the upper body 😉

didn’t fancy the gym today so stayed home and did a v intense 20 min bodyweight upper body workout. I just chose 4 push-up variations and did each one for 45 seconds with 15 seconds rest. I then repeated that 3x and finished off with a 10 minute ab workout. Weight training is my favourite style of training but it’s always good to throw in a nasty little workout like this to see if you’ve still got it 😅 *can confirm, she’s still got it*

I used to be scared that missing a weights session would be detrimental to my progress. It’s not. Trust me. Do what you can, when you can, and where you can. PULL UP
Muscles targeted- Back, arms
1. Grab the bar shoulder width apart.
2. Hang with your arms fully extended
3. Keep elbows close and pull yourself up by pulling elbows down to the floor.
4. Pull yourself up all the way until your chin passes the bar. 
5. Lower yourself down by controlling your bodyweight until your arms are fully extended again.
6. Repeat.
For those that are unable to do a pull up try doing negatives. (Where you jump up and lower yourself down slowly). This will help build strength.

One of our main tenants is “working smarter, not harder”. That means getting more gains in less time. Why? Because we want you to have time to make the gains you want to make AND have time for your friends, family, and fun!

One example of this is elevated pushing work. Many of us perform our pushup type work on the ground. That’s not a bad thing but by simply elevating your hands, you get actually get just a bit deeper into the bottom of the movement! This has two main benefits:
.
One. It provides a stretch of the chest at the bottom of the movement. By elevating the hands and getting deep, the chest and front of the torso is stretched as the body goes in between the hands. This can help provide range of motion WHILE strength training. How’s that for “free gains”?

Two. It provides more range of motion and turns the movement into a simultaneous stretch and strengthen movements. This allows for more range of motion because it’s a loaded stretch but it ALSO allows for increased gains in strength and ESPECIALLY muscle mass. Making your body contract in the stretched range is a great way to improve muscle mass gains over the long term of training!

And there you have it. A small change that can make a big improvement to your upper body mobility when added to other stretch techniques. For the small price of elevating your hands, you get more mobility and more gains! This tip works from basic pushups all the way to Planche Pushups. So elevate those hands and get aboard the Gain Train!

Another edition of synchronized kettlebell floor work. This was a LEGIT flow from @venus2bfab that will build insane hip mobility and strength. Here’s the flow (assuming you have the necessary mobility): From half kneeling clean, press and windmill the Kettlebell. Bring it back down to rack and sweep into a shinbox and come back the side. Switch with a swing, clean, press and windmill the weight and repeat. LOVED this flow. Will def be incorporating this more often. Always love when I get a chance to Flow with @venus2bfab and @docjenfit Creative and challenging. 
Big shoutout to @jane_hane for the mad camera skills and demo’ing her martial arts bad assery.
