Lovely F83 M4 in for Post Purchase Inspection and to diagnose a brake judder....... We found the brake discs fitted on the opposite sides (left on right and vice versa), brake pad deposits on the discs due to excessive heat build up, runout on the front discs which was 4x the permissible tolerance, and the front discs below minimum thickness which suggests a recent Brake 'Skim'. These findings helped the new owner understand the issues (with a 10 minute video to help explain) and give guidance and specialist advice for moving forward.
We installed brand new Genuine BMW Front Brake Discs, Pads, and Sensor after thoroughly cleaning the Wheel Hub of dirt/grease.
The customer also took advantage of the Wheels being off the car to have new Genuine BMW Wheel Bolts, and a Locking Wheel Bolt Set fitted at no extra labour cost.
Lastly, a new Undertray was fitted as we spotted a split in the plastic.
We finished by updated the BMW Central Database with the info regarding the Front Brake Service, then we wrote this information to the M4's I-Drive so it would display on the Service History in the car.
Quick BMW Fact:
Did you know that between 2012 -2014 BMW phased out Paper Service Books in favour of Digital Service Books?
From 2014 the majority of newly built BMW's used the Digital Service Book and had the ability to display the Service History on the car's I-Drive system.
You need to be accredited as an approved Independent BMW workshop to use this paid-for system.
Which is something we have been doing since 2014 near its inception.
Our Dealer No. is 50024567.
