How have I kept at home workouts interesting for the past 6 years?? MUSIC! Music brings out your best especially at home to YOUR favorite tunes (rather than the gym or instructors). Have neighbors? Blast some songs in your headphones while you watch your trainer on tv!
What is your favorite song right now? Mine is Jonas Blue-Rise
Have any events this weekend that are going to be an obstacle for you? 🤷🏼♀️
How about cookouts or work parties…baby showers or dinners? 🎉Those events and the weekends in general usually around food and such. I really try to stay healthy while allowing myself 2 or so “treat items”. 🍕🍰
I use this ranking system and I actually use it for all events and parties. So I rate all "bad" food and only eat my 9's and 10's...I mean the ones I LOVE! So, pizza 🍕 is like a 10 for me so I would enjoy a piece. I also love bday cake 🍰 so I would have a piece. Cookies 🍪 are a 7 and hot dogs 🌭 are like a 4 so I would pass. Potato salad or pasta salad is like a 5 for me so I will pass. I love chips and salsa...9 or I would have a few. And that's it for the bad stuff. Does that make sense? 🙌🏼
Maybe Sunday pancakes 🥞 are a must for you...so have one...with egg whites and fresh fruit 🍉 taking up most of your plate:) •
Don't feel deprived or guilty!! 💕Choose your favorites and then some healthy options...like if there is a 🥗 , a fruit tray and veggies from a veggie tray and really enjoy those 9's and 10's that are on your plate. •
So, pick 2 or 3 of your favorites and that's it!!! And ENJOY them! 😍
Kind of weird, but it keeps me from going overboard and keeps me from feeling guilty...which is no way to live life, right? 😘
Sicilian Style Pasta & Cauliflower 🍝 in a creamy tomato sauce, combined with golden raisins, capers, crushed red peppers...topped with almonds and grated grana padano cheese...thanks @blueapron for inspiring today’s meal! #blueapron#chefhong#shongeats
My bff sent me a free week of @blueapron Have to say it was so great not to have to grocery shop. Made a mess in the kitchen but The Spicy Mexican Chicken tacos were a hit as was the Pan Seared Chicken with Pasta and Ricotta with Oregano. My youngest couldn't wait for me to take a pic because it smelled so good! That's a win! Looking forward to next weeks @blueapron culinary adventures.
I laid alone and awake in a hotel room surrounded by my sleeping babies and cried. 😥
It was that moment, in the dark of the night I knew life had to change. •
When I was 20 I was living off Diet Coke and Blueberries trying to fit in with the other dancers and stay skinny no matter what it took. When I was in my late 20’s and having kids, I just wanted to fit in with the other moms. I saw these moms who gained their figure right back and were fit and happy taking their babies to the gym. I looked in the mirror and saw nothing but fat and ugly. •
In my 30s and after having 4 kids I gained a new respect for my body and what it had done for me, but I didn’t love it or myself. I was ashamed at how it looked. So I over-compensated. I was the room mom, the playgroup organizer, the soccer mom, I wrote a blog and made homemade birthday party invites. Meanwhile, I was trying every diet for a week or two until I gave up, or pills that I read that the Kardashians took (yep, I went there) to lose weight. 🙈
As I approach 40 my goals are not short term anymore. •
My goals now are not to be skinny, or to be the perfect looking mom down the street, but rather for the enjoyment and quality of life not just today, but 5, 10, 20 years from now. I want to eat the cake and drink the wine and feel comfortable in my jeans. •
Everyday I ask myself:
How do I want to feel?
What kind of mindset do I want?
I have come to realize that if I don’t keep ahold of those goals, I feel tired & cranky. My energy drops. My productivity lacks and my overall happiness is not what I desire for my life. •
My mantra is to have a healthy and fun life where I don’t have to THINK about my health and fitness routine, because it just is part of me and my day. I have created a decently strong, flexible and athletic body that I feel comfortable in, now and hopefully every day for many years to come. A body gives me energy...the energy to keep up my kids. To pour myself into my clients. The live my best life. 🎉 •

We had a lot of fun with this week’s #wineandfood pairing, trying #BlueApron ’s “The Absentee Shallot Burger” with fontina cheese fries alongside our sparkling wine, Bright Stars. These grass-fed beef patties are made with fine-diced caramelized shallots, and feature a fresh tomato topping & a creamy goat cheese garlic spread.
It’s probably safe to assume when most people think about their traditional champagne-style sparklers, they’re not thinking burgers… but the truth is, the delicate fizz in a bottle of bubbly can actually add balance to your favorite heavy comfort foods! In this pairing, the fruit flavors in the Bright Stars pick up the sweetness from the shallots and the chopped tomatoes, while the bubbles and acidity cut through the creamy goat cheese spread and oily richness from the beef.
We’re so confident this pairing works, we want to challenge you to try your own Burgers & #BrightStars combo at home – and we’re going to give you $10 off a bottle of Bright Stars to do it! Just show us this post when you stop into the winery to #uncorkNWT before 10/19/18! .
