Cheat days are like national holidays to people trying to lose weight. They work hard and remained dedicated for weeks on end, with visions of their favorite high calorie foods dancing in their heads as the day draws closer. 🤤 _ As someone who’s had quite a few cheat days, I can tell you that most of the time they are as glorious as you picture them. 😂 _ But then the next day when you weigh yourself, you come crashing back down to reality… More often than not, you’ve put on some weight; a significant amount of weight. 😱 _ For example, I had a cheat day back in December, and when I weighed myself the next day I was 11 pounds heavier. ELEVEN pounds in one day. _ People FREAK out when they see this weight gain. “How did I gain so much?!” “I didn’t eat THAT much food.” “All the progress I’ve made is gone after one Big Mac and Fries.” 😭 _ RELAX. _ The weight gain your seeing is not all fat! In fact, barely any of it is. _ Cheat days mean you’re eating a larger volume of food, so naturally, you’re gonna have more food in your system still digesting the next day, making you weigh more. Also, cheat days typically include a LOT more sodium and carbs than your standard day of eating, and both of these things lead your body to retain more water, increasing your weight even more so. There will be some fat gain from your cheat day since you were in a big caloric surplus, but its a very small portion of the weight gain you’re seeing. _ My advice for people is to NEVER weigh yourself the day after a cheat day; the number you’ll see is not an accurate measure of your “true” weight and seeing it will only upset you and potentially sway your resolve to continue dieting. Give your body a couple of days to shed the bloat and then weigh yourself to see where you’re really at. 👍🏼 _ TAG someone who always instantly regrets their cheat days!
10 more hours until i'm physically home & i'm so excited to see my family!! saw all the people who meant a lot to me in vancouver yesterday, which makes me feel incredibly blessed to have people in my life that make it difficult to leave (even tho i'm coming back in 8 months lol). i'm also really excited to establish a daily routine, as that's how i "base" my productivity and go through my day. also will be practising a bit more discipline around dairy products & foods that i'm intolerant to, as i have been experiencing some digestive issues & have been feeling so bloated lately ☹️ i assess making changes to what i eat & what i do to ensure they are out of good intentions, and i personally think that this has helped me get rid of the "diet culture" mindset. because if there is a bit of influence to doing something because i don't like how my body looks, or i feel bigger i DON'T do it. let me say that again, i DON'T do it. that has led to a unhealthy, horrible mindset towards food & my body before, and i'm not going through that again. i'm making these small changes solely because my stomach has not been feeling its 100% best and if i can do something about going through my day without digestive issues, then i will do it ☺️ hope yall are having a wonderful start to the weekend 💫 • • Pictured: vegan choc raspberry cake & vegan cheesecake from the one and only @naamrestaurant

Day 17 of 365 This may be a TMI post but that’s TDB (too damn bad). I am soooo bloated! Painfully bloated! And being a vegetarian I usually 💩 like 3 times a day (from all the veggies) but I haven’t gone in 2 days! Is this a side effect of the whey protein I’ve been drinking?!?! I was going to post a super motivated flexing post today then I was like.... nah. This is me real life. I already ate half of my kids box of cereal and am wearing my baggy sweatshirt today because hey I’m not pregnant but it’s that beautiful time of the month where I would rather sit on the couch and drink 6 cups of coffee while ugly crying to A Walk To Remember than do anything else but hey, I still did my workout today. Yes my leggings fit tighter today because I’m super bloated and want to cry. Yes I do post a lot of flexing photos because I am damn proud of how far I have come, but I am also DAMN proud of me today too. Even though I would have rather ugly cried on the couch while watching Nicholas Sparks movie and drank coffee, I crushed my workout. ⭐️ Sleep training update! ⭐️ I guess I should call it a routine because I’m not really doing hard core sleep training with my sweetie. I’m not much good at letting my kids, “cry it out,” I think it’s so mean! That being said I will let him cry for a minute or two (I literally time it) but I can tell if he really needs me by the way his cry sounds. If it’s just a little whimper and he’s falling back to sleep I’m not going to rush in to save him (like I was doing for 6 months! 😂) I’m realizing that he can cry a little bit to blow off some steam and then he’s almost always ready to settle down. . . . Thank you all for your advice and well wishes. Our little man is taking to his new routine like a fish to water (for now...!!) 🙈 I just cursed myself! . . . If you want to know what we did I’m happy to share details! It’s mostly from the book, “The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems.” Such a great resource! It’s all about getting your kiddos into a routine and making sure they are eating plenty during the day so they don’t wake at night for feeds like my sweet Mike was doing. . . . Not a pretty post I’m afraid guys. I am shattered, bloated af and feeling completely bleurgh. With hubby being home we have socialised, socialised, socialised. Eaten out I think most (if not every) day. I have drunk alcohol most days. Hubby and Rupert have a cold so sleep was minimal last night. I feel like hubby and I still need to sort loads of stuff out with the house which has been on hold whilst he has been working away the last year. My brain is going 100 miles an hour and it’s exhausting in itself. I’m just completely out of routine and without realising routine is a big thing for me and something I need. Please don’t get me wrong I love my husband being home and when he returns I’m also going to moan and be miserable!! But it’s so full on. My body is all out of sorts and I just feel stressed (there I said it) Why am I writing this and making myself feel exceptionally vulnerable? Because life isn’t perfect. I just want to be open and honest and show that we all have low moments but that we can all help ourselves and pick ourselves back up even when we feel we can’t. I have put my gym clothes on and will be working out...it’s important to me. It will help me. I hope that me being honest can help someone else who is feeling like this 💛

Just had a reminder of what it feels like to be bloated and how much it sucks 😝 This used to be me nearly every day before I changed my diet and it was often a lot worse and more painful than this. I went in today with 0 motivation and 0 expectations for a good leg workout. I feel bloated and gross, and the shit food and alcohol from New Years Eve caught up to me today. I was 6# heavier this morning than I was Monday morning and I look it and feel it. . . This is a reminder of two things. One, eating like shit, at least for me 9/10 is not worth it anymore. I feel it so much and it fucks with my digestive system bad and I end up super bloated. Two, when you have no motivation, go anyway, and do the best you can. The worry that this would end up being a worthless workout motivated me once I was in there and I ended up with a killer workout. . . My diet over the weekend is a setback and it sucks, but it didn't ruin me. I am back to tracking macros accurately and making sure 90% of what I eat is worthwhile. Don't little set backs ruin your progress, we all slip up, it's what we continue to do that matters. I am going to slay 2019, and show it who the fuck I am. We ate the things🧀, we drank the drinks🍷 & here I am still standing! . Having the honeymoon right after the holiday had me a littleeeeee worried about be #bloatedaf but I still enjoyed the day, enjoyed the food, but kept moving & stayed consistent. And I left no room for guilt. . The truth is that a couple days of treats won't derail you, just like a few perfect days won't get you to your goals either. Progress comes from small habit changes that happen consistently, not big overhauls that happen every here & there. . A year ago I started this journey with never completing a program in my life (unless you count marathon training). I was busy, tired & just needed a change. Now I've been through 5+ programs in their entirety because I learned that giving up is a choice & one I choose not to make anymore. . I want this to be the year that you know you can do that too, sister friend 💕. I can show you the tools & provide you support, but at the end of the day the results will come from YOU. Yesterday was my actual official 1st day back to Keto after Christmas, and I’m already back below my pre-Christmas weight! This just goes to prove that you do not gain fat overnight - it’s water weight. I peed at least 8 times yesterday, so I knew the scale would be lower this morning, but I’m stoked to see -2.6 since I only gained 1.8 over the holidays! ☺️ YAY.
