Valerie Jarrett, Tarana Burke, Angela Davis, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, Ella Baker, Kamala Harris, Fanni Lou Hammer, & Toni Morrison. Just a ten powerful black leaders and activists I wanted to honor. I was having a conversation about my stepfather and the sexism in the BPP, and we were disputing the leadership of black woman. And all that he said was extremely rooted in this patriarchal notion that woman can’t be leaders or lead as effectively as men. I firstly thinks it’s sexist to have that standard. Black women ARE LEADERS AND CAN LEAD, regardless of men’s involvement. He seemed to not understand the notion of women being leaders of movements but instead serving as “protectors of the man or the home front.” No! Women, especially black women are not destined to serve men. These are a very few examples powerful, black women leaders! What would the Obama Administration be without Valerie Jarret, #BLM without their all women founders, American and Black Canon be without Toni Morrison, or #metoo without Tarana Burke! Black Women’s power and leadership deserve to be recognized! #blackwomen#leadership
Pardon my language in this video but this topic is very dear to my heart, I have a question: Do you think that a “Sister” would have made Kanye go up to the Whitehouse and make a fool of himself?! Black men of America and around the world please stand up and salute your Black women, we hold many, many, many hats without the recognition that we deserve.
Black women statistically hold more degrees than any race in America. Black men please stay woke and watch out for the traps, white America is continuously setting to deter GREATNESS!! #BlackWomen#BlackMen#BlackLove#MakeAmericaBlackAGAIN#Traps#GREATNESS
