Over her career, Horne won four Grammy Awards, including the #GrammyLifetimeAchievementAward in 1989. She was inducted into the #InternationalCivilRightsWalkofFame in 2006.

To celebrate our special day, I share some jewels of yesturday and *TODAY* that every tapper should know:

1. #billieNme of today is #LadyDay with #Hoofer #BabyLaurence
The two worked together when Laurence was just a little boy #soprano. He ADORED #billie. Billie, like every #jazz #musician of the day, worked with all sorts of #tappers and Hoofers, as did I until 2015. #THISisJazz

2. #DianneWalker & #BillRobinson or bojangles. "Auntie Di" as she is known by many is from Boston (goo Massachusetts!) And is An amazing person as well as artist and mentor who we habr the privilege of sharing a lifetime with! Mr. Robinsons birthday was selected as this day of celebration today - though there were a number before him like #KingRastusBrown or #JohnDiamond Mr.Robinson is known as the #GodFather of #TapDance - not to be confused with #JohnBubbles who is the father of #RhythmTap

3. #ChesterWhitmore & his teacher, a member of the infamous #NicholasBrothers. Chester is very very very active today in the US & Abroad and he loves sharing his art, experiences and knowledge. You'd be lucky and recharged to experience him even for 5 minutes - look him up! The nicholas brothers, from childhood refused to appear as anything less than elegant and in suits - which for the times was not common practice for #BlackPerformers. This clip (is as amazing as it looks) is from the #allblackfilm #StormyWeather with #bojangles #LenaHorne #FatsWaller #KatherineDunham & even a representation of the **cakewalk & **tempoclub founder **JamesReeseEurope and his multiple pianos and basses! - #regrann
