In honor of #tastingroomtuesday , throwing it back to my Sunday funday at @grandcrucrush. I did the one hour Vintner’s select tasting which featured 7 wines (reds coming in a post soon 😋) from seven of the area’s best small producers. .
This tasting featured @muellerwine “first blush” rosé of Russian River Pinot, @magnoliablossomwines Russian River chardonnay and @blackkitecellars Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay. What’s cool is Grand Cru rotates the lineup of this tasting every 4-6 weeks, so I obviously have to go back and see what other tricks these wineries have up their sleeves 😉
A treat at last month’s @avwinegrowers Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival was the 2012-2014 vertical of @blackkitecellars Angel Hawk Pinot Noir, for which winemaker #jeffgaffner selects the best lots from three sections of Black Kite’s estate Kite’s Rest Vineyard. Shown here is Redwoods’ Edge, the highest hillside block. The wines certainly had long finishes (especially the 2012)—they still linger in memory two weeks later. It was a pleasure meeting Rebecca, Tom, Wendi, and Michael at various #AVPNF events. Also visiting Kite's Rest on open-house day. Looking forward to checking in with Tom and Michael for @fodorstravel later this summer at Black Kite’s co-op tasting room in Windsor, but you're welcome to beat me to it (link in Black Kite's bio to website).
What an amazing weekend at World of Pinot Noir at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. It was a fabulous weekend with our owner & vintner @birdsallrebecca (Rebecca Green Birdsall) representing Black Kite. Our Black Kite Gap’s Crown was featured at the opening night reception by the Somm Journal and our Soberanes Pinot at the Central Coast Seminar on the second day by Wine Enthusiast.
