Being a mom changes everything. For weeks, the question I got most was “how are you doing?” Everyone wanted to know how I was holding up? Get some wine, grab your girls...give yourself time to process it. Never once did I consider that Peyton would be so devastated. We were all shocked. Tears to such a level, she gave herself a headache...for hours. It was so bad that Baileys roommates family started to tear up...So immediately my focus pivoted from my own feelings to holding, loving on and caring for her. By the time we left I realized I literally only shed one tear...(a nod to Denzel Washington😜). We had to reassure Peyton, that Bailey has always got her....Always. Lifetime of ❤️.

Since I discovered that #momoland is happening all I can think about is going! I love arcades and adore @momopixels aesthetic 😻 The colors, brightness and life are so creatively brilliant. I would take so many pictures and be so excited I think I'd cry 😭✨ Pixel art fascinates me and Id love to see it in person. It's awesome to see black representation in this way. Im just drawn to that anywhere I see it. The bubbly, bright, care free #blackgirl representation. Pure #blackgirlmagic ~ I'd dance my heart out if I went and maybe even Livestream it for y'all! I even have the perfect outfits picked out if I go 👌🏾 AH It would be so amazing if I can go! Wish me luck! 💜✨

To say that the passing of this woman crushed my heart, would be an understatement..
I was raised on Aretha Franklin.
To me, and a lot of musicians, she is the pure embodiment of what it sounds like when you roar from the depths of your spirit. What it's like when you can take the pain and the sorrow that life throws at you, and turn it into a thing of beauty.
This woman taught herself how to play the piano even though she didn't read a lick of music!! She taught me that it is okay to SING BIG.
She taught me that it is okay to walk CONFIDENTLY in your talent, no matter how you look or how people may initially perceive you.
I am a black woman vocalist with curves in my hills.. So I do not, for one moment, take for granted the barriers that she knocked down with each success she achieved and milestone passed.
When I first moved to NYC, the song I sang at the audition that pretty much launched my professional career was Rocksteady. I simply felt that there was no other song or artist that could showcase what my voice could do, yet humble me and challenge me to be better all at once.. and I was right.
She was, is and will always be the standard.
I love her endlessly and feel honored that I was able to witness such an iconic legacy in my lifetime.
RIP Songbird ♥️
